Well let me say this was something I just had to do. I just recently saw Elizabeth - The Golden Age in the theatres and loved it. I loved the first movie, when both my mom and I saw it on the screen in 1999. Cate Blanchett was and still is an amazing actress.
So as soon as I got home I kept thinking of what I wanted to work on as my next digital mixed media piece and I knew as I sat there that I wanted to create a portrait of her.
So lets get on to the particulars of what was done on this one....well I have literally lost count on the amount of hours...lets see, I have been working on this for almost a week now, staying up till almost 2 am working on it on and off. Her hair has been completely painted in by myself. The hardest part I would have to say was the dress, the body actually belongs to another stock model, whose hair was hanging down over the shoulders, so I had to rebuild a good portion of the entire top part of the dress, which was actually really hard to do because of the patterns upon it. The neck cuff was expanded and another lace bit was added on the back, etc.
Ah well, enough about explaining it all, you can look at the original links below to see where the changes and editing are. Just hope I did the Queen justice... Enjoy!
And of course, here is a link to the details on this piece, I am actually quite proud of her hair. hehe! [link]

And as always a big thank you to the following DA artists whose stock was used in the making of this piece.
Oh thank you so much! I'm glad you like it, I spent a lot of time on it and I wanted to get that almost realistic antique portrait look to it, so blending was huge on doing that. Glad to hear it was a success!

Thank you, I'm happy you like it. Actually the head and shoulders is all one stock photo and the shoulders and arms of that model were lined up with the dress above, literally, so the head is the proper size. Kind of almost like those little dress up paper dolls. lol I think it may look smaller due to her hair and neck accessories, but thanks for the tip and wonderful stock!
