Egg Tempera on gesso panel.

The poor guy in the middle has sustained a terrible injury.

Cheers to Ruth for the passalong!

Your stone work is without doubt among the best examples of egg tempera, an extremely difficult medium to master. The subtle lighting, tonal variations and attention to detail create a convincing illusion as does the delicate shading and accuracy throughout the various textural surfaces, each uniquely differing in shape, color and contour.

An outstanding piece masterfully done. Very nice.

really great painting, skillfully rendered, it actualy looks a little bit like masked off airbrush as its so precise. I have never actually used egg tempera as a medium so I cannot comment on its difficulties but you have a great understanding of it by looking at your paintings. i think that this one is maybe slightly a stronger compostion than your other stone painting but they are both superb. great to have your artwork on here.

Funily enough I was delivering to the Plus One gallery on Thursday and an Artist called Carl Laubin was there ( he's their main seller )also delivering his new artwork and he had a very similar stone / pebbles painting which was fairly large, the owner said he liked the artwork as it was different to what carl usually does, think you should maybe contact them with these 2 stone paintings.

p.s. have you seen the artist Alan Magee paintings, some similar stuff with stones.
