the image reminds me a lot of a famous photograph of twins by diane arbus... i think it is the eyes...

Waow, this is very moving and dramatic.
And *mgilpin I can see exactley what you mean! The straight on pose, the eyes looking right into the camera as if they are looking right into you, and even the clothes and the hair in fact :)
Amazing work ^^ I love the dramatic contrast and the black mass of her hair and the pure dark shadow that carries onto her face :)
