First Color Phase

~loonylucifer Original Doodle from Volume 19 of "Is It Scary"; a fan fiction based off of Tim Burton's movie rendition of the book by Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

A kidnapped Charlie Bucket and an old, demented Mr. Prodnose. I thought the artist really captured the scene, especially the competing candyman's features as described. Scared yet?

Work in progress, will be moved to scraps later.

Media: Computer print-out, lines tightened/background added in graphite. Marker base with colored pencil.

I hope to make it a lot better. I did like it as it was but my specific visions force me to tweak it. This sketch is me attempting to focus my energy and breathe life into it. It's hard to explain this creative process; it drains at the same time that it can feed. Unfortunately, I've been feeling physically weak lately. However, my attitude of where my inspiration is attempting to shift into more practical thoughts - growth. There are times when I feel just plain foolish for being so obsessive though. Don't think I don't. "Candy is a waste of time."

In example to detail: checking the movie, Mr. Prodnose's "P" is swirled in the direction drawn here rather than the original (though I liked it). And he does indeed wear overalls with what I see as a conductor's hat (like that of a train). Of course time has passed and things could have changed but I'm choosing to be a stickler due to the plotline in general.

Yes, I will send you the links privately since I don't want to upset people who would not appreciate some of the themes. Lately though, I feel less "devious" for it all imagination-wise, it's become rather prevelent on the internet (and historically speaking there really is a long record). I struggle with understanding myself through the stories.

Disclaimer: I am not however insisting upon this interpriation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or dismissing that there is actual abuse in the world. I am personally smitten with these characters and blending them into my own life experience into what felt riske' to me at the time; it was very exciting. I do feel that imaginary people doing imaginary things to each other is a healthy way of exploring themes otherwise ridiculous, impossible, ignored or forbidden. That is the real point of fan related creations I believe.

I had to be extremely careful while viewing this. The loading of the full view version took about ten minutes; ten minutes when everyone in this house was still awake, my grandma bustling around with her menusha (ever heard the word? It's her favourite), my grandpa snoozing in the bedroom, but most importantly/dangerously, my mom snooping around like usual.

But anyway! That's beside the point.

Uh...

GUH.

Idolhands, you always stun me, and just to let you know, you still do, with your art and personality alike (hmmm... can a person's personality be considered a work of art? I would imagine so. Yours would defiantely qualify :3). This is incredible! As a WIP I see the love and dedication you have towards your art. I adore Charlie's face (you and I both know how shocking this is :P XDDD)

Prodnose has a perfect face and colouring... I remember once you were mentioning Sweeney Todd in your LJ journal and you mentioned that Johnny would have to put in an extra kick for your buck because you always liked the idea of it being someone you wouldn't expect. At least I think so. My memory is shot. 8D But anyway, ever since you mentioned that concept, I've grown to really like the subtle creepiness in a guy who can look friendly like Santa one minute but can unnerve you if you look at him too long (kind of like Sy the Photo Guy). Prodnose as displayed here... I just think it would be so scary if he were to glare at you suddenly (which I can so clearly see). I can see his whole face taking a 360 degree turn. Excellent!

Well, I feel like I've said too much now, but it's all true so it doesn't matter. :3 I look foreward to seeing your further progress on this!

I'm sorry, but I just can't see Bill Nye the Science Guy having sex. I think he reproduces by budding.

I agree and the cuffs were well drawn.
