When I was a kid, I constantly drew him pictures and he'd hang them up in his office. I haven't drawn him anything in years and years, so I thought it would be a nice gift for him.
It's a cartoon of my father and myself air-guitarring in front of the Rockin' Rollercoaster in MGM Studios in Florida, which I referenced from a photo of us from summer 2006.
Did a rough sketch in pencil, character lines in Flash, background and coloring in PS.
**Edit: 7-11-07 ... Thanks to some helpful comments, I realized that a minor coloring error gave me six fingers on my left hand, so I did a quick fix.
And, well, I had a different idea in mind when I initially started this picture...
But the benefit of doing the lines in flash is that it smooths out the lines for you, and since my hand isn't very steady and tablets are tricky, the lines would have been too wobbly and uneven if I did it in Photoshop. I wanted them very clean.
I see you grew an extra finger for extreme widdly-widdly capabilities. Just thought I'd point that out...in case you didn't already know. Otherwise, I'll be quiet. Very nice though and very sweet.
Actually, I know what happened...that's really part of the shorts, but I didn't pay attention when I colored it, and because it was shaped like a finger I mistakingly colored it that way...I'll have to fix that, thanks for pointing it out!
this is one that i wanted to see. i think it's very awesomely done. it's mad cute and makes me feel all giddy inside. ha. i think part of it is because it reminds me of the times i got along with my dad.

i wanted to know (this may be a dumb question) but why you did the character lines in flash? what's the benefit, or is it preference...?
anyway, later!
