Whee, more fan art I started this one after I saw the latest POTC movie. Then I got lots of work, my neck/back and left arm started to act up when I was on the computer, and I had to finish a job application that took forever because of my neck- and arm problems O_o; But now, I'm done with the applications, I've got a kickass new chair to sit on that eases my pain and yeah...time to finish this sucker off finally came
It's captain Barbossa, if you haven't noticed yet. I dunno, I wanted it to look like him without just being a paint-over of some photo. Add a little unique-ness to it all, y'know? But it proved hard to find any features that really screamed him (now I understand why I've seen so many generic anime-faced Barbossas, or Barbossas that really doesn't look much like him, heeeh). But eventually, I think I found out that the mouth and placement of his teeth pretty much did the trick. That, and the crazy-eye look Personally, I think I did an okay job. Sure, he could probably be more like the real thing, but it feels like this is the closest I can get today with just looking at a bunch of reference pictures and do something creative out of that.
I'm, as usual, more proud with the line art than the colours. I did some experimenting with the colours thanks to some tips from and yeah...it's a bit unusual compared to what I do, but I think it works okay for this piece. And I played a little with light sources. The stars in the back are VERY bright, but it gives it a more dramatic look to the ole' captain, huh?
So yeah, awesome character! <3 And a fan art I'm proud with
