Artist's Comments

The "Cinderella Complex" reached almost epic proportions in the land of fairy tales shortly after Prince Charming used Cinderella's lost slipper to locate her and ask her to be his bride.

It was not uncommon for many maidens, both unwed and otherwise, to leave a slipper on the stairs as they left an occasion in the hope that they too could follow in Cinderella's uneven footsteps. Sadly, for most this did not occur, instead they suffered bruises, scrapes, bunions and worse on their limping journey. There were also a number of incidents where guests were injured tripping over shoes left on the stairways.

The fascination soon wore off due to injuries sustained by its adherents but was replaced by the "Sleeping Beauty Syndrome".

I was actually going to leave the comments section here blank, but the above came to mind while I was having a shower and I thought it suitable. It's an interesting concept really, just how disorders and neurosis would manifest in the land of fairy tales.

As always, thanks for taking the time to stop by.

It looks great!!
And I really like the comment you added to it! It would have been a waste if you'd have left it empty ^^

 some of us girlies still do that when we leave a one night stand with promises. But rather than a shoe a mascara brush or scarf or something like that in the "hold or leave" class is fine enough, give you and excuse to call back and talk to him again ;)

Thanks mate.

Yeah, I was tempted to leave it as just the image but the comments came to me while I was showering and I just had to poke a little fun at it.

Pretty sure I'll have to do a follow up to it titled Sleeping Beauty Syndrome now.. lol

hey,

loving the background. something to consider, perhaps a pointlight around the area of the left strap, and closer to the viewer would provide a focus point (her face), and still not detract too much from the overall image.

the other point that seems to distract is the hands, and the lack of "expression" from them. i am not sure if there are hand pose freebie packs out there or not, but giving the hands something to do would prevent her from looking like she is about to break out into doing the robot.

Thanks Tenebere.

I did struggle a bit with the lighting is this as I really wanted the shoe to be the focal point rather than the figure on the stairs, hence the lack of light on her face, but I take you point, a point light could improve the balance overall.

I do agree with you on the hands tho. There are a few freebie packs around and I should have used something to make them look more natural. Oversight on my part.

i see, i see. if the shoe was to be the focal point, perhaps "embedding" a pointlight in/near it would achieve the effect your looking for. perhaps lowering the intensity of the spot, ramping up the intensity of the pointlight, even depth of field foreground blur and sharpness in the region of the shoe?

I tried using a point light on the shoe but I couldn't get it right. In the end I used a lens flare effect in Photoshop and then reduced the brightness of it so it didn't bleed the colour out of everything else around it.

The blur is something I should have done - maybe worked with the focal length of the camera. Haven't really looked at that yet but it's all stuff to try in the future.
