Unexpected Consist

I had seen Q F-units before... tucked behind Geeps as extra horsepower... on the scrap line... or pokey transfer jobs... and relegated to the C&S and FW&D. I never expected to see a pure A-B-A consist on a time freight on the raceway headed out of Chicago. I know 1967 was a long time ago but by then the Q was running new red and white low hood Geeps on most everything.

Ahh... the good old days...

Notice the signal bridge in the distance. It tells you that only the right hand main (south) and center track are signaled for eastbound traffic. It happens that the left (north) main is signaled for westbound only and the center is bidirectional... and lookie... it's still all stick rail.
