Depends on how you understand both, how you got to know each, and how you feel about them. Nowadays it is often very hard to speak about religion due to the fact that in this modernity everybody has his own developed interpretation. A philosophical chaos and a catastrophe between the ages.. but maybe not. Let me not speak about Christianity so to get the reader through to the end of this explanation without him/her feeling he/she is being suggested or preached to. I am not trying to convert anyone or fill their minds with something they simply do not want. Sometimes the only thing people focus on is that and it can be very contaminating. Religion is universal. No matter what people do, where or how they live, they will and if I may say must find religion. It is like the Truth, happiness, and pain. Those three things are a part of religion. It is just pure us being ourselves. Even in the rational age where science explains the world it (science) takes the form of religion and slowly but assuredly goes back to it just to understand that accident or not it is just the same thing being just explained in different words and methods. Such is the case with the subjective sphere too. Even in this culture (hardcore punk music) of drugs, tobacco, alcohol, promiscuous sex, and unhealthy nutrition lifestyle there is this movement born. A movement that is very similar in its philosophy and personal commitment to religion. I believe a lot of people in this movement come to know this connection and become strongly religious while others are somehow afraid to acknowledge it before themselves and keep away from the labels and names but still love the idea. It is all the same. The fact that if those people were said that religion teaches the same things before they found SxE on their own, they (those people) would laugh, move along, and forget. It is funny how in society there is a ghost of hate towards religion.. and just rearranging the labels and faces would make it easier for those people to get themselves rid of this ghost and maybe fear, and just open. However rearranging.. personally I don't like it. It goes way too of base and ground. Complicated... My suggestion here is the question Why? It has already been "invented". All of it. It is like trying to invent the car while standing on a highway. Why?

So are you saying that being straight edge is like, an imitation of Christianity and Religion? And what does 'hardcore punk music' have to do with the subjective side of things? Some people don't believe in God. That's the world we live in. And yes, many people do find their own religion, or beliefs. But if you're straight edge, isn't that enjoying your beliefs without a story and God behind it? Isn't that in it's own way more of a way of living, oppose to a light silhouette of a religion?

I'm neither Christian, nor sxe, but I still don't think that the two have anything to do with each other.
