Artist's Comments

It's after Midnight here. I've been working on this piece since 10 am this morning and I'm exhausted. (For those of you who don't think art can be hard work, I beg to differ. Wonderful work, but just as tiring as any other job!)

I've just begun to color in the fur. I had to stop because as a tabby she'll have a lot of blacks that I don't want ot do yet, and because I wanted to make sure the brown of the rocks was going to be different enough from the brown undertones in her fur. So her fur has a L-O-N-G way to go.

I'm in the process of doing rocks now. I'll probably be doing rocks most of tomorrow. If I'm lucky, I might make it to plants. As with the fur, the darkest dark aren't in place yet. I'm still working my way around the piece.

I'm going to bed folks. More updates later!

Working time: Approx 3 days so far.

The rocks look real. Holy moly. I love all the colours you seem to have used on the rocks alone.

Thank you! So far I've used Slate grey (which is more of a blue), French grey 90%, Bronze, White, Skyblue, Dark Umber, and a colorless blender on the rocks. The bronze and the Slate Grey blend to give it that greenish tone. Straight color often looks so flat. This way the rocks look more like rocks.

Amen! And oten times it's very mentally taxing as well... I'd compare it to something like taking a test for six hours straight... I hate it when people think the artist just loves the hard work and long hours that go into making art, as opposed to just the idea of making something worth while and something that you can be proud of in the end. WE ARE NOT MACHINES PEOPLE!! >:C
