Artist's Comments

This picture was taken yesterday at the nørreport s-trian station in the heart Copenhagen. Tog is danish for train, and nobody really knows what the 's' stands for. It's kind of a government secret. All s-trains are red and the s-train net spans all of greater compenhagen, so it's not really a metro cuz it's a bit bigger and this one is the only real underground station. If you want to go to my place from here, just take the s-trian called 'A'.

(very minor contrast and while balance adjustments in PSP.)

I really enjoy this photo.

I'm kind of new to the long exposure idea. How was this done? Why is the train blurry and the person standing there in focus?

I like the clean lights and the rich colors! :)

Thanks cdsfire :) This is my first deviation, and you're my first comment so that means a lot to me.

Anyway, I took this shot while waiting for my 'A' train back home, and it was delayed so I took a picture on the opposite side where an 'E' train just took off:) The exposure was set to 8 seconds and I was VERY lucky that the person didn't move at all drung those 8 seconds. The train of course was moving hence the effect. I set the apparture to 8.0 (which is the highest on my camera), so that's why I think the lights turned out so clean.

wow, i love this picture! its so perfectly taken..the only gripe i have is your name tossed in there randomly..just doesnt fit and takes the focus away

Thank you:)
Ok I'll update it when I get the time. I don't know extremely much about composition. I put it in there to balance out the person somehow, but I guess it doesn't work that way. Tell me if it looks better without the name, cuz I'm not sure.

aww... forgot to leave a comment :/
just want to say that the colors and the blur of the train? gives the picture such a warm impression - very well done! :D

Thanks so much for the information on how to perform one of these shots. I don't have any trains near me, but I will probably do some experiments with some other things.

DId you intentionally wanted to take the man standing there within the picture? If not, it would've look more interesting if he wasn't in the scene. It suggests a very desolate place in a late hours.
The whole speeding train is also an interesting shot. I adore fast paced motion captured on film. Great job!
