LOL :D Yup! Know what you mean......and in my highschool yearbook they wrote "that I didn't have to worry about having butterflies in my stomach when giving a speach...I kept them all at home under glass", referring to my hobby of entomology at that time, and some of my 'Science Fair" projects dealing with the cataloging of North Dakota Lepidoptera..:D

There are advantages to not being popular and not having any friends in school.. I never had to deal with that..

I can't say I was popular or not in highschool, though I was involved in several clubs and the concert choir and band. I was more of a tag-a-long....LOL I also had been put in an advanced learning group as a freshman and they kept us together as a group throughout highschool. On entering 9th grade, everyone was given an entrance exam and the group of us that scored the highest were kept together as a class...it got a bit tough academically because there were a number of guys and gals smarter than I was. It was a challenge, that's for sure. Other than that, I guess I didn't socialize a lot. I guess the bunch of us were considered the "Brains"....LOL It was tough when I got into college, because I never really learned how to study, or manage my time and almost flunked the first quarter...after testing out of basic classes and got dumped into math and chemistry classes with the majors....OOoops! And, a fellow in my highschool group that struggled to get "C's" ended up on the Dean's List in college for that reason... Live and learn, I guess. I guess I wasn't challenged enough back in highschool. :D

I have always been a loner.. I loved and hated school.. I wanted so desparately to learn but kept batting my head against a wall.. Later when my youngest daughter wad diagnosed with dyslexia things started to make sense.. I was kicked out of school right after I started the 10th grade.. I was never able to go back and finish.. I am totally self educated.. I bluffed my way into Berkley gfor auditing classes for two years.. That was fun, but it didn't get me any diplomas.. My drive to learn as much as I can still keeps me searching for more inforamtion.. My latest was learning to use the computer.. It has been just a little over 3 1/2 year since I got my first one.. Next was learning to make fractals.. It has become a passion..

Never stop learning....it keeps the mind active. I have a brother-in-law that is dyslexic, too. To pass his state plumbing license exams, my sister would read the regulations and stuff to him when he was studying for them. And, it worked. It helped him understand if he could hear it as he read it. I found that my memory works along that line, too. I would read stuff aloud while memorizing. It was a trick I learned when it came to memorizing music in chorus....we'd read the lines and/or sing them, phrase by phrase. First while reading, then by repeating it without looking at the music. It worked quite well. I found that it helped come test time in other classes, too. We'd outline everything and do the ol' recital bit. I had a teacher back in the 8th grade that was old school teaching....we had no written work while we had her...it was all recital and memory. I learned a mess of poetry back then. It was tougher when it came to math, though. She even had us memorize the Dewey Decimal System used in the libraries.

When it comes to computers, I have to do....reading on how to do it just doesn't register with me at times...LOL Fractals are neat! What I so enjoy about them is that I never know what I'm going to find hiding in them whenever I open the application....always something there to surprise one! :D
