A set of triple bunks for our eldest three daughters.

*SoulElectronique and myself began this project on 8th August 2006, completing the building and sanding on 16th August 2006. These photos show the making of the bunks in progress.

First we measured the height of our eldest sitting down, so we could work out how much space she would need from the ceiling .... and went from there .... a bit of a fly-by-the-pants project. The bunks are 210cm high and made of pine. The ends and bed bases are bolted together so they can be pulled apart for moving.

well done! i'd recommend putting some diagonal struts on the side that goes against the wall : this will help the frame remain rigid when under lengthwise stress. i remember having bunk beds with my brother when i was younger and they got quite abused!

Thanks for the comment :)

Yeh my hubby decided to add some small diagonals just under the top bunk on the wall side and two wide rails for the top and second bunks ... this has definately made it more stable. We also plan to bolt it to the wall when finished ... just to make sure. Planning to finish the stain and varnish this weekend and get all the kids sorted into their respective rooms.
