I wanted to make the sky reflect in the water of this huge pond at Hidcote Manor. So I used an wide angle (sigma 12-24mm) lens and placed a 2 stop ND grad over the front to balance the light from the sky and the reflection. I wanted the image to look natural so I allowed a 1/2 stop difference between the sky and it's reflection. This is shot at 12mm full frame...it doesn't get any wider than this!
I've re-submitted this image. *koroshino suggeted that I the people were a distraction, and I thinkhe's right. So I've cloned out the people and now it's a simpler image. I've also done a little work on the sky to make it look less blown out.

Huge pond indeed. Nice place. I get a very slight overexposure feeling, mostly in the clouds and the left house. But nice none the less. Wide angle is fun!

Stunning. Great use of the lens.

Thanks, the Sigma 12-24mm is a really fun lens to use. But full frame it can sometimes be too wide!

Yes, it was very bright and even with the 2 stop ND grad, the white clouds blew out more than I'd have wanted.

Thank you, the Sigma 12-24mm vignettes a little, so it seems to help give a slightly polarised look to blue skys.

Yes, the 12mm effect is very strong here. The effect is usually too stong for landscape orientation shots but for portraits it seems to work fine.
