A Fox once saw a Crow fly off with a piece of cheese in its
beak and settle on a branch of a tree. "That's for me, as I am a
Fox," said Master Reynard, and he walked up to the foot of the
tree. "Good-day, Mistress Crow," he cried. "How well you are
looking to-day: how glossy your feathers; how bright your eye. I
feel sure your voice must surpass that of other birds, just as
your figure does; let me hear but one song from you that I may
greet you as the Queen of Birds." The Crow lifted up her head and
began to caw her best, but the moment she opened her mouth the
piece of cheese fell to the ground, only to be snapped up by
Master Fox. "That will do," said he. "That was all I wanted. In
exchange for your cheese I will give you a piece of advice for the
future

"Do not trust flatterers."

Well I've finally finished another painting. I am sorry for such a long delay. I started this painting about 3 weeks ago but I know it has been longer since I've posted anything. Well I spent the last 2 nights finishing it up after procrastinating on my art while starting Summer II at school. That and its been hellish with the heat around here. A heat wave hit and its well in the 100's at least for another few days. All I've really been doing is going to school in the mornings and studying at night:P great summer eh? Well regardless I hope you guys enjoy it and I'm sorry for the delay again. I want to do more from the Aesop's fable series and hope to keep up my animal paintings:) This is one of my favorite fables!

Done on Arches Hot Press - Watercolor - 6 hours

*Edit* ~ after talking with *yaamas about my new painting he pointed out some minor problems with the painting that if fixed would make look better. So heres what I did after I posted the picture the first time 1) Killed the white areas that took away from the overall painting 2) Darkened up the foreground 3) brightened up the wildflowers 4) got rid of the highlights on the crow and some other random minor touches like extended the leg of the fox so it made him look more balanced in the painting:) It's definitely got a more complete look and feel to it now :#1:

Despite the moral of the tale, I hope you'll accept a bit of flattery, this is so charming and wonderful, David. See, I wasn't after your cheese after all :D Lovely work.

Wow! This is awesome Ace! I love it and the boldness it has. That glow around the crow is excellent. What a guy!

Lovely color and flow of the lines through your composition. Your colors are muted but your pieces always have such energy to them. Great piece! :-)
