I had already inked one interpretation of Arwen back in May with "Undomiel," and was waiting to find the right model to shoot reference for some close-up views.
Sometimes, ideas come instantly, but more often than not, they don't!

I had already inked one interpretation of Arwen back in May with "Undomiel," and was waiting to find the right model to shoot reference for some close-up views.
Then, when I saw a recent photograph of Jennifer (taken by her sister Megan, and both, former artists on DA), I knew instantly that this was the shot I was looking for! One glance at thier (then) deviation, and this treatment came fully formed in my mind.

Across an ocean of time -- for Internet years, in their relentless piling-up of data upon data, are like the immeasurable aeons of Elven immortality -- we found each other, and so it came to pass that my heart was captured forever...
After so many perceptive comments and your own detailed answers, trying to contribute inevitably inadequate words is something very much akin to a futile pursuit, yet your artwork brings with it so much emotion that one feels compelled to pay homage to its enduring magic. The pervasive atmosphere of soft wistfulness is indeed magnificently conveyed in the way you rendered the lighting and in the attitude of the Elven princess with her eyes downcast : a moving picture of serene resignation, the prescience of sorrow to come -- and accepted. Your portrayal of Arwen Evenstar is achingly gorgeous as well, capturing the ethereal beauty of Elves while retaining a youthful, natural grace (sadly, the photograph which inspired this seems to have set off from the Grey Havens : it must have been a striking piece).
