"I can hear you breathing. Nobody in the Cradle does that anymore."
- Lauryl, Thief: Deadly Shadows
Yes, more Thief DS fanart, can you believe it? I just whipped this up and decided to submit something.... I'm in the middle of another detailed Thief fanpiece, and it's been ages since I uploaded anything...
For non-thief people, who really should be looking for a Thief game in the store instead of wasting time browsing through my scribbles, this is Lauryl, the little orphan girl who was murdered in the orphanage turned insane asylum turned haunted house: the Shalebridge Cradle. The building wouldn't let her soul leave, because it held memories of her.... the barred window is symbolic of that... All in all, I've tried to stay true to the atmosphere of the house in the actual game... *shudders*
A cookie to anyone who notices how crowded the place is.
EDIT: Convinced by some comments as well as my own nagging conscience, I went back and smoothed her hair out.
yup, very crowded, lots of ghosts there really good one, And yes the Cradle freaked me out very very much :/ what a mission!
good work!

I really like the creepy atmosphere - the curtains which you aren't completely sure are curtains or something else, her look, and the misty feel to it. The only thing I have to criticise is her hair, it looks too... artificial. I can't find the right word, but I think it would fit better into the surroundings if it was a bit smoother, since everything else seems smoothed out. But I really liked the picture as a whole, it has this sense of space, of things being behind eachother, that many paintings don't have.
Well done
I remembered: ORIGINALLY I intended for her to be sort of forming out of the fog and getting sharper and more materialised towards the top, which is why the hair is so sharp, but at the end I didn't want to make the top that sharp, but the hair stayed....

First off, everyone here at deviantART would like to say THANK YOU!!! We have received an overwhelming amount of enthusiasm for the launch of version 6 and believe that this has been our best-received launch to date.
You might even be one hell of a profesional, but if you don't SHOW it and PROVE it, how will everyone know? These facts are important not only when you are looking for a job, but in any situation when you wish to showcase your work. I decided to share a few guidelines that might help you give the best of yourself and help you be a better profesional.

`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
