This, my friends, if the first glimpse into the far-future world of The Ruby Key, eventual sequel to The Heart of Mar. Obviously TRK won't be posted until THOM is finished--duh--but I'm working on it right now anyway, because I know exactly how both stories are going to turn out and only really need to make sure the petty details match up.
I sketched this out today waiting for fireworks to start--they started a half hour late thanks to a couple stupid pyrotechnicians--in my notebook, and was so happy with it that I decided to post it. I intend to do proper linework and color it, so when that happens--or when I get tired of looking at lined paper on my front page, whichever comes first--I'll throw this one in Scraps.
Here we have Daxter all decked out for the final--and somehow first--war with the Dark Makers. See, the Dark Makers come to re-terraform the planet in the far future, when even Kras City has fallen to ruin and Haven is a pocket of about four hundred people, when Spargus is the biggest city on the planet with a population of two thousand. Things don't go as planned, and a swarm of their advanced troops--Hora Quan, Metalheads, whatever you want to call them--end up jumping through a Rift to escape, drifting around in the space between times until the last Rift Gate finally opens and the Core Metalhead can push his way through in an attempt to stop a fifteen-year-old Jak from jumping to the future to eventually live long enough to become the greatest of heroes.
I love writing paradoxes.
In any case, this is Daxter. In his Precursor armor--a gift from the Precurian troops that arrive to fight the Dark Makers on the planet with no name--complete with a gem-tipped staff not unlike the Precursor Leader's from Jak 3, though the actual design leans much more towards Damas' staff. I can't say how old Daxter is here, but I will tell you it's a significant amount of time since the trilogy closed, even with the time travel involved.
Good picture though his face looks a little too human, and his hands could look a little more paw like. Other than that I love the detail in the armor, and the creases in the clothing of his pants.
-- I am perfectly fine in my own insane little world, do you want to join me?
It's the same coppery colors as the rest of the Precurian armor featured in the games, while his undergear--his pants and tunic, because he is wearing a tunic here--are off-white and brown.

OMG YAY!! TIME-PARADOXES ARE AWESOME!!!
And occasionally confusing if you don't write it down on paper... >.>;;
I really like this suit of armor... how pretty and shiny it must be if it's made out of precursor metal.
... And I've always liked how you give Daxter a more human face than an ottsel-face. It always reminds me that he's a person, not an animal.

paradoxes are fun, but they are a PAIN to explain to your parents >.<
my dad wanted me to tell him how the timeline worked for the trilogy and even after 20 minutes he still didn't get it -.-
nice detail... I hate it when I do some good sketch on lined paper. I have no program to fix it up on my computer

You might even be one hell of a profesional, but if you don't SHOW it and PROVE it, how will everyone know? These facts are important not only when you are looking for a job, but in any situation when you wish to showcase your work. I decided to share a few guidelines that might help you give the best of yourself and help you be a better profesional.

`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
