Literature Text
She was the quiet sort,
tsunamis tucked
within her eyes,
anxieties pinned
to pottery skin;
she would mold herself
into moonlight butterflies
and glist'ning calla lilies,
pure and white and
beautiful.
and when night cast
itself upon her in
heated, hard'ning flames,
she’d smash herself
upon the rocks
and in morning start
again.

Eurydice
His voice enveloped me, and I became
Myself again--I heard it in the song:
A mordent on a note he held too long;
A stutter in his voice. I heard my name
In these and felt a happiness the same
As when I saw him first. Oh, I had longed
To hear him sing again, but this last song--
It was so beautiful. And it remains
The best of human works, though none shall hear
Its sorrowed notes; the lyre's meand'ring tune
Through vast arpeggios and Death's expanse
Except the dead. It will not disappear
'Till all the world's destroyed, and hell's exhumed--
Such music must be worth a backwards glance.

Nothing Lives Forever
i.
When you were a child, we would sit on the porch to talk about your day. And sometimes, we would find a dead bird, or a frog on there. And you would ask me about death and why it happens, looking at the poor creature in my hands, its life cut short and touch it tenderly. I would always say the same thing.
Nothing is meant to live forever, my dear.
ii.
The school called me in on your twelfth birthday and asked if I had known how clever you were, that your test scores were the best in the state. They asked me if I knew I had a genius child on my hands who grew bored easily in class and tended to distract others in his classroom, sometime

Sonnet XXII
But give me leave to love in silence that
which I cannot possess— and give me such
inspired defiance of the urges at
my breast— and give me strength to never touch
my lips to hers, my soul to her soul— give
me heart and hale to weather every storm
that may unfold: But tell me how to live
without my hand in hers, its honest form—
and tell me how to wake each morn if not
to wake within her arms— and tell me how
I am to carry on, and how I ought
to act and speak and be, around her, now,
and ever: tell me, and I'll on my way
as still and quiet as the passing day.

I would fill her with poetry,
breathe it in her skin; she is the perfect metaphor,
so beautifully whole and wrecked.
---------
I sort of was infatuated with a poet finding someone whom he wanted to write words upon—thrust his passion upon.
Your thoughts would be much appreciated (and any critique you may have: I'm still learning!)
EDIT: HOLY CRAP A DD! thank you a million times over!
I just want to express my overwhelming gratitude. I'm really just blown away that people would think it good enough for such an award. All the comments, favorites, and watches are extremely appreciated. This just means the world to me.
Also thanks a bunch to `HaveTales-WillTell for the suggestion and ^Beccalicious for the feature!

It's an amazing poem! I love the gentle but powerful emotion it brings. It is an amazing expression of love. 10/10
Honestly, from one poet to another. This is the kind of poem you should take to a slam or a contest. With something like this, you would give your competition a run for there money.
