"Fire And Ice" is my rendition of the Crab Nebula. It's basically a bunch of tranluscent layers painted over each other to create all the different layers. It's one of my 1st painting (9th to be exact). This painting (along with all my astrological painting) was choosen by my son as one of his 10 inheritance paintings. Unfortunately, he no longer has possession of them, as he left them at his bosses house where he was living at the time but when he was fired he was locked out & not allowed to pick up his belonging. This painting "Cosmic Egg, Eyes of Jupiter, the armadillo sculpture" along with several personal items & electronics was lost during this transaction.

This is really cool. I love the depth perception.

Thank you, Gilly. How is your persute of painting portraits coming along? I am currently attempting one of my daughter Amy, but it is not coming out well as she looks a lot older then the image I wanted to portray. I thought about asking you for help.

I really like this piece. The depth is great and the colors compliment each other and bring vibrance to the art!

I used a very loose paintbrush technique to accomplish the fire & to blend in the colors without mixing them too much.

I am flattered! But I'm afraid it would be a case of the blind leading the blind! Remember, I have only ever painted 2 portraits - I did a painting of my mum a few weeks ago. I'd like to soften the colours a little, but never seem to have the time or inclination! Perhaps this weekend..... Watch this space!

I had no idea you had done any astronomical paintings! :)

The Crab Nebula is beautiful... this is a wonderful interpretation of it... I'm so sorry that you lost it... :(

Sometimes two blind people leaning on each other can accomplish much...looking forward to seeing your Mother's portrait.
