The challenge this round was to create a costume for a dark but beautiful princess, in Cirque Du Soleil.

I wanted my design to be beautiful and dark while still being sleek, sexy, and bold.

Now, since the client was Cirque Du Soliel comfort, flexibility, creativity, and versatility were all major elements of my design. The outfit can either appear to be more of a dress, could be worn as just a skirt, or could just be a leotard.

The dress aspect of the costume is made up of: the leotard with the long attachment, the skirt, and the wrap around top part of it. The top is a burgundy mixed with gold chiffon. The chiffon attaches to the side of the leotard (on the right side), and is then wrapped around the leotard and finally attached to the side once more. The skirt is then added which is made of the same golden burgundy.

The leotard can either be worn with the long piece of chiffon attached or detached. This feature ensure that the performer can do all necessary ticks without getting weighted down or caught on anything.

The leotard is made of a chocolate brown (with a hint of red in it) cotton spandex blend. There is then a layer of the golden burgundy chiffon that is rouged at the side. There are then ruby colored and topaz colored gemstones. Whether they would be real or not depends on the amount one would want to spend on this costume.

The shoes (which I am in love with) are made of an amazingly large amount of the same colored gemstones. They would be lined on some clear material and then attached at the back. (I’m aware that they are not practical for acrobatics, but the performer would obviously take them off before performing anything of that sort)

The headdress includes gold spikes with ruby stones on top, and a veil attachment lined with rubies.

Her makeup also goes along with the whole theme and color scheme. It includes an eye shadow mask and loads of mascara. Her lips would have a line of lipstick on her lower lip and a fully done top lip. The performer would wear golden powder and also have a jewel forehead design.
