Artist's Comments

The last of the weekly arts. This is Emme's dragon/death elemental hybrid.

I was really struck by her being a warrior (scarred, sword-carrying, etc) so I tried to push myself to draw her in a more active pose. I tried to play with negative space, but it didn't quite look right in black and white so I tweaked it a great deal in Photoshop to get the texture and the red glow.

And I didn't get the arm wrong from posing in the mirror, she is actually left handed! *triumph*

I commented at PE but wanted to comment again here. This is great, I love the red hue and that pose! Very difficult to pull off, but you did :)

That's a great pose, as has been commented. I think it's often hard to do simpler pieces, yet convey a lot of feeling, but this one definitely works. That hair is great, especially. Just a bit of critique, the shadow looks a little odd.

...I'm inclined to agree about that shadow. I stuck it in for grounding, but it's pretty extraneous. Shall bear that in mind for future art.

She's really lovely here. I like how intense her face is, and the pose is elegant. Great work.
