This was done using just watercolor pencils and drawing ink (no gouache this time!). I think I'm starting to get a handle on the pencils, although I'm still a bit sloppy. The gown turned out exactly the way I wanted it, although it nearly killed my hand. I think I spent about 3 hours on that alone. The birch trees were no better and I'm not sure about the branches. Hate the ground, I always struggle with the ground ... any suggestions?
The woman is just an original character to showcase the gown. She was originally going to be a brunette, see scraps , but I felt that it left her completely detached from the background. I think the white-ish hair ties in with the trees a bit better.
The gown is gorgeous, and I love the folds! The entire thing looks so delicate. I think it was a good idea to have her hair be blond, although it still would have looked nice brown (just would have expressed a different thought ) I love the details in the trees, and I wish I could give something for the ground, but the [lack of] skills I have for backgrounds make for bad suggestions XD So I will sit here and admire in silence
