This is my cosplay of Shinya from the Japanese band Dir en grey during the Macabre Tour. I wore this to Otakon 2005 and is my favorite costume to date.

It took so long to finish this, because it's so detailed. It it made mostly out of red and black pvc with lace for the sleeves. The pattern for this was entirely drafted by me (flat patterned). Both the top and the skirt are fully lined, complete with pockets in the skirt. I don't want to say to much more, because an artist always keeps some secrets ^_~, but let's just I got resourceful for some materials.

I need to find a good full length picture of this costume, one that shows off the boots. I got so many compliments on those. ^^

incredibly fun, yes. it's so out of character for me. and it was actually pretty comfortable (except when i forgot to wear socks the first day with the boots >_< and sometimes the binding would bother me). I had to have my friends do stuff for me though, like out the wrist cuffs back on or tighten the straps on my boots (since i couldnt bend over XD).

thanks. yes, it is hard to work with. it was so humid when i was sewing, i had to cover the plate of my sewing machine with scotch tape and put baby powder on both the machine and vinyl so it wouldn't stick.

I kinda have the same problem bending over whenever I'm in Faire garb, but that's just cuz of the bodice/corset, hehe. So I can sympathize, sorta ^^;
