7 hours spend carving this thing. The shading took forever, I remember why I don't carve pokemon fire very often. I was up til 5 am with this thing. Ugh.

I'd always thought that Rapidash would make a badass pumpkin. Looks like I was right! Despite taking a lot longer then I had wanted, I'm really happy with how this turned out. It looks amazing lit up. I want to keep it forever...

This is dedicated to Freya, my Rapidash on Diamond!

EDIT: What the heck, I'll try for DA's pumpkin carving contest again this year :P

A Sleeping Dragon is Never to be Tickled.

This is the pumpkin that sucked away all my carving time on Saturday and Sunday. That's right, I spent two days on this thing. I was marathoning the movies while I carved, and this one took up half of 3, and all of 4, 5, and 6. It's crazy man. Be sure to check out the full view for epicness.

So this is actually my 100th carved pumpkin in the 10 years I've been at this. I knew I wanted to go big, so I carved the full crest of Hogwarts, complete with both banners! This one was all me, and all about the shading. It took forever. This thing is so gigantic and detailed, the pictures don't do it justice. I'm really happy with how it turned out, but I regret how long it took. I could have easily carved the other 4 patterns I wanted in the time it took this beast. But it wouldn't be Halloween if I didn't show off just a little :D

A scene from Disney's Tangled carved into six pumpkins :D

phew! this took forever. About 12 hours? (i didn't time myself, I'm just guessing). I'm very pleased with the result. I've always wanted to use several jack-o-lanterns to create a scene ^_^ this is the first year i was actually brave enough to attempt it.

Listening to: "Lord of the Rings" soundtrack

Approximately 600+ individual pieces to cut out; 10+ hours of carving, each of the 12 circle weaves taking 30 minutes. Tools: exacto blade, mini flat-head driver. Design is not entirely original, but composited and adapted for a pumpkin by me.

If you make a contract with me, you can carve awesome pumpkins like this too!

I think this is my scariest pumpkin all year. It's like he's staring into my soul. It's seriously creepy.

In case you're not familiar, it's Kyubey from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, one of the best anime I've seen in awhile. I almost forgot that I had planned to carve this one, until the other week. Meant to get to it last week but I only had time to get the one done. I think it turned out rather well, enough to seriously creep me out. Not my fanciest, but I think I'll enter it in DA's contest anyway.

First carve of 2011, and it felt like it. I had to re-learn a lot of things doing this one. 4 hours carving, not including the 3 hours I spent trying to salvage another pumpkin that had started to rot and ultimately fell apart while I worked on it.

I think this may be one of my favorite carvings ever, and I'm betting it won't be nearly as popular as my others. Such is the way of pumpkin carving.

So this is Spook, the Survivor of the Flames, from Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn trilogy. These books are awesome, and you should read them if you haven't already. I'm serious. Go read them.

So this pumpkin is based off one of my favorite images from the third book. Spook, also known as Lestibournes, with his blindfold and burnt cape, surrounded by flames. The pattern also incorporates the the symbol for Tin in the background, and Pewter on his chest. Read the books, it will make sense.

As for the pattern, since I can't draw for beans the credit for this goes to by good buddy Ashleigh! She did a fantastic job of pattern making. Major credit and thanks to her :D

I had a lot of fun carving it as well, even if it took awhile. About 6 hours, I think. I used a lot of the marker technique, but I think it turned out well. I tried to give it a gradient so the ends were more burnt, but it didn't photograph very well. Such is the way of pumpkin carving.
