The news; A window on the world
With clouded glass. Man's craving
For knowledge comes to a point when
Powerful political people
Of a 'plainly politic position'
Take it into their own hands
To manufacture knowledge,
To brainwash the curious cats,
To cloud the glass.
Conflicting sound from two TV screens
Each with their unique take on the scene
Both the same pictures, not the same sound,
"20 are injured"; "6 hit the ground".
What to believe, and what to dismiss? How
Can the indivdual grains of sand
That make up this clouded window
Be sifted through
To find what is pure, honest, true, And what
Needs to be thrown away; what impurities
Should be removed
To make the window clear once more.
Only then can we truly see
The true extent of the casualty.

All around she could hear the screams.
Screams of terror, screams of fury,
Some were screams of shame and regret.
Glass broke, people scrambled.
Some in a blind fury and others with a real objective.
She fought to hold back tears.
She fought to keep going.
Just one more minute.
Just one more moment.
Just one more glimpse of paradise to keep her going,
Just one more light to keep away the darkness.
She choked on tears and finally gave in,
Salty water seeping into her cuts.
And suddenly she awoke
In a hospital room
To a nurse's worried face.
She could still hear the screams.
And she remembered the thoughts that flashed in her mind:
Terror, fury, shame, and regret.
Just too much to handle for such a young woman
Just about to give in.
Just a bit more hope,
Just a bit more stability,
Just a bit more forgiveness.
Just a bit more.. And she might make it through the night.
