Within days, Klyte sees how hard their job is. The vigilantes of the kingdom are desperate to reveal the veil of lies, to show the citizens how blind they have been. They want a rebellion, and they'll do anything to get it. Visere calls for a hunting trip, a much-needed break from the job. It soon dissolves into chaos and, for the first time, the Liars are faced with a group of people just as cunning as they are.
Then Klyte realises that his worst fear shouldn't be the vigilantes. It shouldn't be the impending civil war. It should be the person right in front of him, smiling that knowing smile and twirling a knife behind their back.

I am fifteen years old, nearing sixteen, yet I have never seen the stars that scatter in the night sky. The ancient stories describe them as a beautiful sight when you have just had a rough day, but nowadays the sky is nothing but midnight blue bleached over with ash.
Centuries ago, my ancestors got careless. The world was already in a dangerous state, but no one took any action against it. Instead, they ignored it and kept playing with their scientific tools and technology, taking everything from nature but not giving anything back. Problems kept popping out, accumulating over the years, and by the time anyone had realized what they had done, it was too late.
Mutations started popping out, too vicious to kill, escaping from labs and cages. They were the results of too many DNA experiments, and careless ones at that. Monstrosities of creatures thought to only exist in fairy tales and legends now existed, hideous freaks sending shivers down the bravest's backs.

Mother, who still tucked me in every night, up until that last fatal day. Father, who was always so patient with me. And Aryn... my younger twin sister, someone corrupted by power but in the end, still found love in her heart.
I've lived a long, harsh life. I've lost the ones I loved most. I can't say I'm alone in this world, but at times it certainly feels like it. But from everything I've experienced - love, hatred, grief, jealousy, and betrayal - I've learned lessons. More than one.
Humanity has its limits. There's only so far we can go before having arguments and eventually war. Fights break out and blood will be drawn. Peacemakers exist, but not everyone is one. Hotblooded fools and stupidity will be with us until the end of time. If we try to push ourselves and

NANO2011 ExtractI watched out the window as the clouds drifted casually through the dark sky. The sun was slowly setting as day became night and I became more and more scared. I listened to the sound of the cars rushing along the busy main road, everyone with somewhere to go, whether it be home to their family or out to see their friends. What I'd give right now to be in my car off to my boyfriends for the night. Instead I'm led here, no place to run or hide. Thoughts of today fill my head, and thoughts of way back then. I thought the past was forgotten, done. Little did I know that it would come back to haunt me like this. I hadn't really meant to tell her what I did. I guess I got caught up in the story telling, trying to invoke at least some kind of reaction. I mean it was a pretty dramatic story, maybe overdramatic, which would have been fine had she kept it to herself. I knew I should never have told anybody, no matter how much they said I could trust them. I guess the pressure just got too much.NANO2011 Extract3 years ago in 2011 More Like This
NaNoWriMo Days 1 and 2Kendra concentrated hard on the banana in front of my face. Scrunching up her nose and squinting her eyes, she focused really hard. Suddenly, it burst into flames. She smiled, satisfied, and spun around as she heard a scream behind her. She saw a pale faced foster sibling backing slowly out of the kitchen. "What are you." The child breathed, their eyes wide in panic.NaNoWriMo Days 1 and 24 years ago in 2011 More Like This
"Jesse no, don't be scared. I-I lit it on fire." Kendra said hurriedly, wishing the fire would disappear. To her dismay, it did, making Jesse's eyes widen even further. "Th-th-that's unnatural!" She screamed again. "You are a witch!" With that, Jesse spun and ran out of the room and bounded on the stairs, and Kendra watched her go in dismay.
As if summoned on cue, another voice popped into her brain. I told you not to practice magic in front of others Kendra! The voice was exasperated and tired sounding. Kendra grimaced at the tone of her brother, Lane. Lane looked identical to Kendra, except for the small fact that
