To say that they were not all feeling some manner of trepidation would have been disingenuous: all were quite aware of the myriad things that could go wrong before they even left the ground, but it was tempered by a firm optimism. Indeed, being surrounded by Americans, it was the kind of relentless hopefulness that made one slightly bitter. Why couldn't all people be as miserable as her rainy backwater island, Emma thought. Though she was not ungrateful to be here – far from it. Ahead of her was the greatest journey carrying the greatest responsibility in the history of humanity. It was a bright, clear day in Florida in the year 2023. Much as she hesitated to admit it, Emma Arianna Thompson was entering the third decade of her life. It seemed she had been half that age half as long ago, like the years hadn't passed her by as she ran on autopilot in ferocious pursuit of her dream career. But now she had attained

Chapter 1: Make Yourself at Home
When I first arrived at the dome, I waited for something to happen. I don't know what exactly, just something...
There was food and water, as promised. Though, it was less than appetizing. Astronaut food, they call it.
The next day came and went and still I was alone in the dome, waiting. For something.
The next day came, then the next, and the next, and the one after that. I started to lose hope of receiving letters from the people who had promised that they would never forget me. And since the satellite video screen was not working as planned, I didn't get to speak to anyone either.
Then another week went by, and each day I just ate and drank, and then sat by the virtual fireplace all day.
A month went by, and still, no letters. But there was an endless amount of stars and galaxies that never changed enough to entertain me. It had been exciting at first, but not anymore.
I stopped expecting anything around month two. I was sure my deares

After drying himself off with a towel, he looked over on the toilet. On the cover were his pajamas, a pair of briefs with a blue trim… and the diaper his sister gave him.
“There is no way that this is going to fit,” he said, studying it. Cream was still able to fit in regular baby diapers — she wasn’t even big enough to wear Sizes 5 or 6 yet.
He only had two options: either lose another pair of underpants to another possible accident or squeeze into something that he was seven pounds too heavy to wear.
He thought back to Cream. She gave him her diaper because she didn’t want him to be sad in the morning.
“Well,” he said, swallowing his pride “here goes nothing.”
Tails set the diaper under his butt and tried to tape it up. The tabs barely got to the landing zone.
Standing up, Tails walked aroun

"Uh... Lewis?" Lewis looked away from the ginger dwarf of the ground as his white-coated companion called him.
"What is it, Duncan?" He asked.
Duncan stared at the paper in his hands for a moment before snorting. "Sorry..." He said. "I shouldn't laugh but..." He showed Lewis the paper they had found near Honeydew.
Lewis stared at it for a moment as he read it, then realized what he had attempted to do. He too let out a snort and burst out laughing, covering his face with his hands. "Simon!" He exclaimed incredulously.
"Stop callin' me that..." The dwarf moaned suddenly.
Lewis got a grip and helped him sit up as Duncan squatted down next to the two. "Sorry pal, you're stuck with it."
"What's that from?" Duncan asked curiously.
"Simon in code for 'self destruct' where I'm from." Lewis explained.
Duncan laughed. "Oh my god
Resurgence Chapter 1The salvage truck’s engine slowly chugged, reluctant to start. Craig Steele frowned and folded his grease-smeared arms over his chest. After a solid week’s work on the engine, it should be starting. Everything that Craig knew how to do had been done.Resurgence Chapter 17 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
“Shut it down,” he called out, shaking his head. The motor died and the cab door opened up. Evan Crewe, Craig’s friend and business partner, jumped down and landed lightly next to the truck. Small clouds of sand floated up around his feet.
“Starter might be going bad, Craig,” he said, spinning the truck’s keys around on a finger. Craig shook his head.
“Shouldn’t be. I just checked it. I don’t know what it is.”
“You check the battery? If it’s not that, it might be the wires for the plugs. Could even be the plugs themselves.” Evan wiped his greasy hands on his coveralls. Craig
Kurrel Crocodile Chapter 8Kurrel and the gang continued their journey, the teammates talking amongst themselves as they walked. “I don't like this,” Jack said to Sammy. “This Tirek guy seems like he might stab us all in the back at some point.”
“Yeah,” The shrimp agreed. “But Kurrel seems to know what Tirek might try to do, so I can't tell if this will go well or not.”
Driskull remained silent as he listened to Jack and Sammy, but his expression was enough to show he felt the same way. The alien looked at Tirek for a moment, studying him. He hoped Kurrel would put the centaur in his place if he tried anything funny.
After a while, the group came upon a small town, the settlement resembling a stereotypical cowboy-style town, with a gray windmill in the distance beside the civilization.
It just so happened, though, that this town at that moment was being

So the day came and went, nothing new and nothing really all that special. With all his assignments turned in though, and with nothing else added to his schedule it seemed he had the weekend all to himself. Seriously, it felt like his wrists were about to snap in half after all that drawing he had to do the night before, but with that out-of-the-way, and with no extra assignments added the weekend was looking pretty good to him. No sketch pads, no colored pencils, and no stress; the up coming weekend was going to be awesome.
With both classes complete and his books all packed up he looked down at his watch and saw that it read almost one in the afternoon, and he knew what that meant. With his books packed up, and his spirit held high he made his way out of the building, and across the street towards the fountain where he could see Nika waiting for him.
"Thank you." he whispered as he crossed the street.
Once across he was home free, and it looked as i

And like soldiers, they were guided to the mess hall for breakfast shortly after getting dressed. They ate quickly under orders to prepare themselves without delay.
In the afternoon, they donned their WEAPONs, and took turns sparring with their teammates in the Defense Force’s specially modified arenas, warming up and preparing for the events to come.
They rested, they waited and they prepared their hearts and minds in bated anticipation for the fated hour.
And then the time was upon them…
The first annual WEAPON Combat League tournament began.
The tournament was scheduled to take place over the span of five days. On the first two days, the first round matches take place. At the end of these four matches, the semifinalist teams would be decided.
The third day would serve as intermission, giving the semifinalists a day to rest after their

Ducky: I don't think he ever will. Nope, nope, nope.
The Bad End Estate Pt.1A girl, the age of sixteen, was standing in front of a large mansion. She clutched a crumpled invitation in her right hand. She sighed, which formed a small puff of steam that evaporated in the cold night air. Her waist long hair, dyed the color of turquoise, framed her pale white face. She walked to the large, broken, elaborate wooden door.
She formed her hand into a fist and prepared to knock. Before her hand collided with the wood, the door opened to revel a tall man in a sophisticated suit with a long tail coat. The girl retracted her hand to her chest and took a step back.
"My, oh my. What a beautiful young lady. Can I help you?" The tall man asked. He had long magenta hair tied back in a ponytail and ruby eyes.
His eyes were such a shade of red that you could easily get lost in them, which the girl started to do.
Cold Shadow - Prologue There was a time when our race danced across the stars like gods; when we were the ones building new civilisations – instead of relying on nature's rule of natural selection and balance. With time, our work soon bore fruit and from the oceans came the first conditioned sentient life – young, timid and innocent we kept watch over them like we would our own children, we supplied food from afar and even kept the cosmos' unforgiving nature at bay whilst they grew larger, faster, stronger and smarter. As the ages went by we had witnessed the birth of so many; each with their own morals and laws.Cold Shadow - Prologue4 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
They had all made so much progress – but despite their advancements we could only see an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, power and resources, such greed was known to burn a hole in any race's heart – and we knew all to well that any hole burnt by greed could never be filled, for we had seen what it had done to our

Not that Erras and I spent much time in there as our walks consisted more of walking through the halls and not being confined to the small gym.
With full permission the rest of my known life slipped into this comfortable routine: wake up, eat, work with Dr. Whitten, go on a walk with Erras, then to bed. I kind of enjoyed it.
Most nights, after a good six-hour sleep I’d awaken bored out of my brain and then go bug Erras for a few hours.
One night, I shouldn't have, but then again I think that every time I make my escape to my bunk, yet this time I’m glad I went and

A warm orange sun shone from a blue sky onto a richly green meadow. Delicately leafed trees whispered softly in a cooling breeze. The lovely scent of recently blossoming flowers was brought to the noses of anyone present.
At current, two were present in the meadow, settled on a picnic blanket on a high, grassy rise by the river that flowed through.
One was a young Jack Russell. She wore a bright orange shirt and knee-length jeans with sandals, typical attire for a Summerkin youth. She had one leg over the other and was rocking it, her sandal bobbing gently against her foot.
The other was a Border Collie – or, at least

The team sat still in a circle formation around the wingless plane, waiting for something. Mike glanced at his watch and whistled as he moved to the open cargo door. As everyone came in, he looked at their faces and saw the look of defeat.
“Listen, I know we had our plane crash on us, but we have a choice. We can continue the mission, or get rescued and leave. Keep in mind we have civilians that are still in need of rescue,” said Mike.
“How? We are only have six people. It won’t be enough to rescue these settlements,” Shaun pointed out.
“Sometimes, all you need is just one person at the right place and time; they can make all the difference. Imagine what six can do,” said Kasperi.

NaNo 1The soldier looked down at the sudden metallic ‘ting’ that he had heard. It wasn’t the first such sound he had heard that morning, and to be fair hearing any such noise in the cacophony of the station was hard going. Between the billowing, gurgling engine suspended from its track in the ceiling and the constant rattling clang of the other cars being loaded and shuffled about, it was a miracle he could hear his own heart beat. That was only possible because of the close fitting metal helmet he wore that only allowed him a narrow T shaped slit to look out of.NaNo 114 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
When one joined the army of the Inland Empire, swearing loyalty to God the Ever Wrathful and Emperor Gustav the VII, there was a reason why they didn’t say you’d see much of the world.
The soldier looked around, making the tooled leather armor move against skin which had become clammy and uncomfortable by the heat of the place. Who ever had thought to build a city in the middle of the Barrens had been a
