This felt terribly familiar. Corra’s fingers tapped against her cheek nervously as her eyes scanned the expanse of black out beyond the Beacon’s bay window. Nothing looked back at her but the dark shape of Satieri, silhouetted against the light of its neighboring sun, but that didn’t calm the ocean of worry roiling through her veins.
She’d only been to Satieri once and the circumstances were eerily similar. Leta and Cyrus mounted a dangerous mission on the planet’s surface while Corra and Finn sat stagnant on the Beacon, waiting for them to return, useless and powerless in the outcome. That time too, she had whittled away the time in prayers that all would turn out as Leta hoped.
Finn also seemed to be using the opportunity similarly. He paced the floor of the bridge relentlessly, back and forth, back and forth, silent and stoic. An unlit cigarette sat between his fingers, a desperate lifeline he was at least coherent enough not to partake in.

Myrth Altekin (Pronounced Merth All-teh-kin) is an inhabitant of a future Earth, where things have taken a turn for the worse, creating a dystopian society. Myrth's parents are much higher up in the society, having a say in what goes on. Most people of this society live in peace, though the way it works, is that any people who are deemed 'imperfect' are gotten rid of. The way they're disposed of is being shot away in a space pod, to land on a different planet, where nobody had to see them. Being imperfect can mean many things; You look different, by dying your hair, getting an unsightly tattoo, or even just simply changing your eye color. It can also mean you were born with a impediment; Bad eyes, crippled limbs, essentially any and every kind of birth defect. Lastly, it can mean that you've been getting bad grades in school, anything lower than a 74, and you were sent away.

"Well, that's the last of it," said Jaws, putting down the last box, "Thanks, Finbar. Er, I don't suppose you'd be able to stay for lunch?"
"Oh, I suppose I could manage. Besides, I expect young Alasdair here will want to know a bit more about me."
" Och aye, Ah dae...Ye say yer name's MacTaggart. Onie relation tae oor Captain, ur...?"
"I'll say there is! Jaws here's only my good wife!"
"Och, yer wife, eh? Interesting..." If he was being honest, Alasdair was more than a little shocked; he'd never expected Jaws to be married, especially not to someone he'd supposedly met before. They seemed pretty happy together, though, and Alasdair had never seen such compassion in a space pirate before, "Sae, hoo did she trick ye intae 'at one?"
"Well, we can discuss that over lunch...If I can remember which way the galley is!"
"Don't worry, Finbar," smiled Jaws, "I'll keep you

The Procyon System. Morning. 10:07, to be precise. Not that time had any real meaning in deep space. It certainly didn't to Alasdair Geddes, as he snoozed lazily in his cabin. He'd had a hard day yesterday, what with being captured by a gang of pirates, and then persuading them to release him from his dreary existence on Procyon VI. The Captain-one Jaws MacTaggart-had been only too happy to have Alasdair onboard her cruiser, the Stellar Typhoon.
Now he was tired, and really didn't want to get up. He didn't see any real reason to; he'd only just arrived, after all, and he didn't expect that Jaws would land any heavy duty work on him so soon. He was just going to sleep in, never mind what anyone else had in store for him. Let Kyoko d

“Clyde Wendellson,” a deep voice intoned, “you have proven yourself the most formidable warrior on your planet. The galaxy itself is in grave peril. We require your aid.”
“Uh…” he offered.

“So, I guess I should start from where it all began. I came from a normal town, but will call it Hollow instead. Anyways, one day, a rumor started going around that if you were out at night, you could hear the whispers of the dead. Now, I didn’t believe that at first, since there’s always going to be some rumor about the things that go bump in the night.
“Anyways, a few weeks after the rumor started, people started to act...differently, almost as if a switch had flipped. While I had started hearing voices as well, I merely brushed it off as the situation getting to me. Eventually, people started disappearing without a trace, though I ignored this as well since the voice told me too. In retrospect this should have been a major tip off that something was up, but I ignored it since I had already attributed

This cup was the pride of the coffee shop, but there was something else nobody knew about. This coffee cup had its own favorite customer. He was a young man, a college student. The coffee shop was his favorite place to study and do his homework. Every time he arrived to the coffee shop, the coffee cup was ready to be the one with the coffee he always ordered. The reason the coffee cup liked so much this student was that his eyes were as blue as its own color.
One day, the coffee cup was ready to be with its customer, but he never arrived again. It waited for him, days and days, months and months, an eternity, but he never went to the coffee shop again. The coffee cup stayed the same. Same color, s

I walked into the apartment that Leerik said her family kept on hand and looked around. It was a nice apartment. Two bedroom and actually fully furnished.
“Wow, this is pretty nice.”
“Thanks. So, what cable company do you want to use? Or do you want just Internet for Netflix and Hulu or something? Either way, I still need the Internet provider you want.”
“Whatever is the cheapest and gets me the fastest. I don’t like doing this, Leerik.”
“Taking advantage of your money.”
“You’re not. I offered it and am wanting to use my money for what I want. You need clothes though… we should go shopping.”

(TA) Daring Cliffs (ROH)Kenia and Nanuq paced uneasily along the starting place for the final rite that needed completion for the two of them. They had been through a lot with along with some other tokotas from a completely different pack, a different home. Oddly over the time that they had been running to complete the tasks, not only had the tokos become fast friends, but so had the handlers, and Nanuq was especially missing that companionship at the moment. Having friends steadies one, and without them, the person is partially set adrift. Kenia felt the same way, though to a lesser extent. Neither were particularly happy either when a complete stranger rode up totally at ease in the saddle of his brown tokota. He dismounted and went to go and register himself and his tokota. I, Skylar Carmon, graduated from high school, got kicked out of the house, and lost my only chance at getting into a university all in the same week. Oh, and did I mention the insane award money and private contract? Hell yeah, I'm getting a piece of that.

It was around the middle of October when Vert and Sapphire, desperately needing a weekend to reconnect with each other, asked Tezz and Lex to babysit Juniper for a weekend. Lex was busy in the yard with pruning and raking, leaving Tezz in the kitchen with the youngest member of the Wheeler family.
"What are we making today, uncle Tezz?" Juniper asked the Russian as he bustled about the kitchen.
"Well, my little printcessa," the Russian replied, using one of his Russian pet names for Juniper, "I was thinking that we would make up some time sorbet for tonight's dessert."
"How do you make time sorbet?" Juniper asked, somehow knowing that the normally serious scientist was about to show off more of his silly side that only she got to see.
"I'll cook up a solution with the knowledge I've accrued," Tezz sang as he danced about in a sil

It was past three in the morning when Sky got the phone call.
Sky shrugged, showing he didn't know. "Yes, may I ask who this is?" He asked.
"I work at Stillwater Hospice, I'm calling on behalf of Lawrence Void."
Sky felt his heart skip a beat. "...Wh... What about him...?"
"He's had a heart attack, sir. He may only have hours left, and you're his primary contact. I'm sorry."
Sky froze as Alesa looked at him worriedly. No... No, this couldn't be happening, right? "Sky?" Alesa whispered worriedly.
"If you want to say goodbye, you should come right away. Thank you sir."
The nurse hung up.
Sky stared down at the phone, before he stood up.
"I have to go."
"... C-CV had a heart attack."
Alesa gasped, sitting up. "I-Is he...?!"
Velko and the witchesAt long last Velko got to the first barbican of Moroygrad, the witches’ fortress. Yes, fortress they called it, yet it was a whole city, a city whose size nobody knew, apparently. It could spread across tens of kilometers, even hundreds, for that matter. No one had gone in and back out to tell. Fortress, a fortified city, a fortified country--it was a complete mystery.Velko and the witches18 hours ago in Short Stories
Velko stared dully at the gate.
"Why wouldn’t those retards just go along the walls on the outside and see how far they reach? " he told his dog. "Is it that difficult? I know these are of some primeval civilization, and a ton of stuff’s unknown to them, but still."
The dog did not answer.
"Are you listening to me?" Velko looked down toward his fat, one-eyed dachshund.
The animal was gnawing at its crotch intently. It disregarded him for a moment, then raised its eyes up slothfully--one honey-colored, the other pink--to state, "I’m busy," and resumed its gnawing. The rear’s tiny, blac

When they were done their dinner, they all sat outside on the porch of the house; at least, what had not burned. They sat there, staring at the sky. It was black. They knew a storm was coming, and they knew they should prepare, but still they sat, staring up. Once in a while, the large mat of clouds would move out of the way long enough for one of the four to see a star. It fascinated them. They had never seen one in person, other than the sun. They knew that the stars they saw were to far to go to, but they hoped that one
(TA) Run With Friends (ROF)Malik yawned, wavering between sleep and waking, which was unusual for the piebald tokota. Generally he was one of the early risers of the pack, getting his food before the others had a chance to steal it from him, but this morning was different. He was stiff and sore, and not at all happy with the fact that he had barely slept the night before. As he stumbled over to where the food was laid out every morning he glanced around through blurry eyes and saw Flit. That little ray of sunshine was still asleep, curled up beside her imposing father, both duns snoring, dead to the world. Today was the Rite of Fortitude, which meant a lot of work, and wouldn't necessarily give him time for a nap. He envied Flit for the sleep that she got, and it only added to his decidedly bad mood. He wolfed down his breakfast and turned around, intent on trying to at least get to close his eyes for a couple of minutes, but luck definitely wasn't with him that morning. “WHAT!? Are you certain, Captain!?”
“We don’t know how it got in, but we’ve already called in a decontamination unit to remove it.”

“Not that we’ve seen. It was the Commander who pointed it out though, so he has been quarantined for the time being.”

How many OCs do you have? (post thumbnails here if you feel like):
I have in total 14 Original Characters, for all of whom, I should add, there is no artwork to represent their appearences. They form the cast for my Steampunk fiction set in an alternative universe where in that version of the 21st Century, Britain still has an empire, and it’s original 13 colonies in North America. France and Russia still retain their respective monarchies having never witnessed the revolutions that shaped them politically in our own world. Oh... and steampower is still the main driving force.
Meet the characters!

Traveler (part 8)So they took a twelve hour drive here. Why does that sound off? Oh yeah because no sane person goes out of their way to adopt a kid that lives twelve hours out out. Not only that the kid had been gone for over a week, leaving no time for them to really to know the kid. In some ways I think this is fake but since right now James is in my room watching me as I pack any of the other stuff that I actually own for myself. Technically he wouldn't have been there if Mrs Hendrick hadn't told them that I tend to take off often. A Tale of Two Magic Chefs A massive woman stood in a restaurant, surveying all there was to see. But this was no ordinary eatery--it was one of the largest in the southernmost part of the city and it had a good amount of patrons. Keri had an expression that was fairly divided. She never considered venturing into business, but her husband had no virtual way to be more useful than ferrying her small lunches in the middle of her epic battles. Thankfully, one of her former enemies, Xadoris, encouraged some of his conquered victims to eat there along with the humans.A Tale of Two Magic Chefs1 day ago in Introductions & Chapters
