The sound of a quantity of high-speed motors began to die down; no one had even really noticed that part in their attention to the vibration and humming in the Pepper vehicle. Once the actual ‘shaking’ had stopped, their trip apparently ending rather abruptly, they all felt the smooth motion of ‘being carefully set down on the ground again’.
The monitors continued to show whatever station they’d been tuned to, which in the short span after they’d vanished from the parking lot, meant most of them got turned off. The main, larger one on the wall separating the pilot’s cabin from the rest of the craft however remained on and split into half a dozen smaller views. It looked to Groove rather a lot like some of the war rooms and simulations of attack plans he’d seen. Some of the sections showed interesting calculations, while others large overhead maps.
When the high-pitched motors faded out of everyone’

Carramba’s Summer Road Rally
Considering it was Summer, the well-known high school campus was quite thick with people. Any other school in almost any district this time of year would be all but vacant, possibly hosting a few errant ‘better pass this course or have to repeat the grade’ classes at best.
But Carramba High was hardly just any school.
And this was no typical weekend in July. It was the weekend after Independence Day, which had been Friday, when a lot of folks could have been staying inside and sleeping their party hangovers off. Today though, a lot of those same people shook through it or had even been up all night, in anticipation of the upcoming events.
The wide West Parking Lot was set up with a strip of banners and divider ropes, mostly clear of regular parked cars. Those were all in the South lot, and there were hardly any spaces over there either. Hundreds of people milled around the warm asphalt and tried their best to remain in the shade of the old

You might recognize my voice. My name's Tim. You know, from the bar. I’m here to tell you an occurrence so stupefying you’ll be rocking
in your seat. Forgive the Texan talk, seems to suit me best amongst the many voices I've had as an 'Interpreter of memories.
Way out in ol ’west coast, there’s a fella I want to talk to you about. A man known as Ralf Rebolwski, or rather Snigiliput due to the fact
that Ralf was too confining to his person (for whatever that meant), now Snigiliput, that’s a weird ass name around my parts, or any parts
for that matter. Well, that seemed to suit him just find, going around places telling his name was Snigiliput to see people’s reactions. The
one reaction that surprised Snigiliput was that of Greg Zook…
Wine is fine but whiskey’s ten times better
It was late at night in Seattle; Greg Zook could not see a thing in the darkness although there were plenty of lights from th
Terraformed Chapter 1Summary: In the far, far future, join a more advanced Earth, a purple oceaned Mars, and planet of floating cities Venus tackle the responsibilities of having life on their planets and, in Venus and Mars's cases, adapting to having life. Featuring Earth, Terraformed!Mars, and Terraformed!Venus. A collection of oneshots.Terraformed Chapter 119 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
The surface of Earth was truly beautiful. From space, it was the jewel of the solar system. The deep blue of its oceans occupied a majority of its surface with wispy-like clouds dotting the skies of the planet. The greens, browns, and whites of the continents resided snuggly in the blue oceans. On those continents were people walking amongst animals and plants, creatures that only existed on the Solar System’s precious blue jewel.
Now, it wasn’t the only one that harbored life.
The sea of Mars’s North Hemisphere was vast. The water itself was an odd purple-blue tinge from the red dust that settled in the bottom of the new sea. Other tha

“It really is a good thing this hovercraft is as maneuverable as it is,” Una said, subtly clutching the armrest on her left and Dane’s arm on her right. He seemed to appreciate that at least to a point: when her claws came out, he had second thoughts.
“It’s two lanes wide,” Dane shouted back, “I’m just glad Orion actually knows how to drive it.”
He didn’t have to shout, they all had headsets fit to filter the wind and fan noise. But perhaps, Una thought, it was his way of dealing with excitement or fear. Wait, wait, no, he wasn’t afraid, he was probably just excited. She’d heard Rocky discussing it earlier with him. If he triggered to fear, he’d probably just leap from the moving vehicle.
Of course, if he triggered to anger… She’d have to fluff out to her combat-worthy half-cat form. But for the time being, it was actually Una that was fe

The transformation of the Silverknight vehicle from bipedal to ‘four on the floor’ wheeled travel was surprisingly smooth, if a little weird to watch from the inside of the cabin. Windows slid into place along the sides of the van proper from their upright robotic form, rotated different directions or moved over themselves in a fascinating manner.
Any hint of gear motion, pulleys, or other mechanical operation, were hidden ‘somewhere’ in the machine. Under the floor board? Behind the passenger portion of the interior? There was a good amount of unaccounted-for space, behind where the passengers sat and where the actual exterior of the van was.
Much of the movement of the parts, however, seemed to involve no mechanical effort at all. If anyone had asked, Gordon would have said, magnetism, because he’d seen similar motion at Black Mesa’s experimental Anti-Mass lab. It did slightly worry him, being in proximi

Team Blue (and Team Low-rider, Pandora, Pirate Flag, and possibly Unmarked Van)
The traffic of the city was behind them, but now Team Blue was met with a new fold: they had to make it through San Diego and its suburbs, which if anything were an order of magnitude bigger than Talon and Crescent cities. Though they’d thought out their travel plan, it seemed as though the world had other designs for Rich and Ashi and Aern.
As they headed southward on the 5, eventually becoming more and more aware that traffic wasn’t going nearly as quickly as they’d imagined on a Saturday, even this Saturday (the racetrack wasn’t even hosting a horse race, what was going on?!), Darkness suggested they head inland a little.
“We could take the other route, but we would have to cross west at some point,” Ashigaru said. “Right now though, that doesn’t seem like it’s any worse than this.” He waved his paw at the cars that pa

By now, most of the teams were settled into their vehicles – some of them barely packed in, others with the luxurious space that a dedicated large sized craft could give.
Feng’s team enjoyed a moment or two of pure bliss when they discovered that the ‘Lambdis’ as Feng called it, was definitely bigger on the inside than the outside. Not just an illusion: there was a front seat, a back seat, and then… some kind of device, and … more back seat. It wasn’t necessarily roomy, by any means, because the head room was low – the entire vehicle was ‘low’. But there was more than enough space for Armorshot’s munchies, Lethe and Miranda’s suitcases, and the assortment of supplies and gear everyone else had brought.
In the Underwood camp, similar ladders had to be used to get everyone on the hovercraft. It was among the broader of the vehicles in the rally, but clearly designed for speed and maneuverability. It had thick s
