People were too afraid to stay in their rooms that they had all filed into the lobby.
“Ladies and Gentlemen,” the PA system said cheerfully for the fifteenth time this night. “We would like to thank you for your patience. The next ferry will be leaving in forty five minutes. If you require immediate medical attention, please report to the nearest health attendant.”
Right now, patience was a luxury no one could afford and the amount of people needing medical attention was baffling. A man was holding his wife’s hand as she lay on a cot, a bandage around her arm from a Dimorphodon bite. Another man hissed in pain as his head was bandaged by a nurse. A fair-haired family sat by the fountain, despondent at the whole outcome of the day.
Over by the door, Riku Dold, Kyros Dold and Victoria Dorman were sitting on the floor. Riku Dold, being a generous man, gave his seats to an elderly couple and took a seat with his subordinates.
Keena Part 7- The PrisonerWell… this cage was larger than the one at the circus. And she wasn’t made to do any of those stupid acts or make a complete fool of herself just for cheap laughs.Keena Part 7- The Prisoner16 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
But those facts did not change Keena's bitter hatred and undying anger towards the world.
Again, the cage was barren. Again, there was virtually nothing to do or see. Again, she was always confined. Again, she was alone.
There was a large ball, a plastic tube tunnel –which Keena destroyed in a matter of hours- and a plastic slide, which she would just perch on top of, staring out at the rest of the world outside her cage. She’d sit up there for hours… staring. It’s all she could do. That or pull the fur out from her chest or gnaw on her limbs, unaware of the pain or bleeding that she would cause herself. It would only briefly relieve her of her crippling boredom.
When she wasn’t sitting on the slide, she was aimlessly pacing her cage. Which wasn’t much larger than a dog
Boll Weevil: The Story of Redemption Chapter VIThat week turned into two, those two weeks became a month, and that turned into six months, and those six months turned into a year. In that year, I trained, and learned, and waited. The stars were aligning for my eventual clash with Sidney. The news of me training had gotten far in this small burg, and it apparently reached Sidney, who was understandably nervous, although she would never admit it, to herself and her friends. It eventually got to a boiling point when the people at my old school started chanting “BOLL WEE-VIL! BOLL WEE-VIL! BOLL WEE-VIL!” at her whenever she was in public. It got so bad that she eventually shut herself in, not going anywhere. I could not feel sorry for her, she was a victim of her own deeds, and now she was being punished for it. I suppose the ultimate irony is, is that she was placed in her own hell, by someone named Dante. And deep down, just like the lost souls in the Inferno, she knew she deserved every bit of it…Boll Weevil: The Story of Redemption Chapter VI10 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Upward Over the MountainIt was early morning in the valley where the tribe had pitched their summer camp. Only a few clouds were swimming slowly across the pale azure above. The last peach hues of dawn were still fading away through the pines, but most of the valley’s inhabitants were already awake and busy with their chores.Upward Over the Mountain14 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Aulanerk had already been up for a morning trot and sniff around the camp before the sun came out to join her. Feeling accomplished and reassured that all was well in the valley, with high-held tail she jogged back home to her handler’s ger.
There she found that Deniigi, Kaniq and the other Tokotas of her “family” were now nowhere to be seen. She put her nose to the dewy grass and surmised that they were probably strolling around nearby, having felt the desire to stretch the sleep from their legs and greet the day, just as she had.
Poking her furry head into the ger, Aul was surprised to see her handler Tuaq still asleep in his bed of skins. They had just returned
Eternity Ch. 4Evelina was quaking with fear as she followed him out to his car. It wasn't a flashy one. It wasn't that old, but it wasn't new. She didn't know much about cars, but she knew that much. "Usually when a man opens a door for a lady she should be polite and accept the considerate gesture. Not that you can't open the door yourself, but I was raised when men were chivalrous to women." He motioned for her to enter the vehicle, but still she didn't move.
"I was always told not to get into cars with strangers," she said. His playful expression softened.
"I'm not going to harm you. I promise. If at any time you don't feel comfortable I'll take you home." He stepped away from the door to show her he wasn't a threat.
"I'm sure all serial killers say that." She gave in, sat in the passenger seat and put on her seat-belt. He chuckled at her comment and closed the door after she

The sky was bright that day. The sun was shining, in the only real way the sun would know how to, and the rays bared down into the great rocky valley below. The area was almost a desert, with sand spread far and wide across the area, and bright orange rocks making up the few steps to an unforgiving fall to the bottom of the valley below. Dusty winds swept across the valley as well, both on the surface and in the valley, kicking particles of anything that would float across the stone-heavy expanse. Here and there was the odd bulbous plant pod, leaves still growing strong in the spring air, while creatures of every shape and size roamed the area looking for their next meal, hopefully something alive. Nearby, impossibly, was some sort of forest, its trees extending way into the air and almost blocking the sunlight completely. And inbetween those two expanses, a wonderful combination of the best of both, lay an oasis; a deep and crystal clear pool of water that housed fish and frogs that s
The Perfect Girl part III - Paradise LostIt had been one year since the Perfect Girl ended. Emily and Antoinette remained very close, and within weeks, ‘Nette’s evening visits began to last overnight. It wasn’t long before things progressed enough that she moved into Emily’s loft. They were both scarred in different ways and found it far more comfortable staying in at night than braving an often judgmental and cruel public. The Perfect Girl part III - Paradise Lost11 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Having been deprived of her own locks, she doted on Emily’s long hair fully. Emily loved the attention and the feel of their tantric brushing, oiling and stroking ritual, which Antoinette did for her daily, but felt extreme sorrow and shame whenever she saw the other girl take off the knit cap she wore nearly constantly since that day. The blonde’s hair had grown a little since the contest, but she hadn’t been able to bring herself to have the mess cleaned and evened up. As profoundly ugly as her hair was, she couldn
Wildfire! [Exploration]Korina whistled while she packed up her gear. She and her tokota, Caine, had spent the last few days just relaxing out in the mountains. Caine ruffed and nuzzled Korina’s hands, asking for treats. She laughed and pushed him away. “Nah, come on, Caine, we have to get back. We have work to do.”
The graying brown tokota sighed and glanced up at Korina hopefully, as if asking if they could stay for just another day or two. She wished they could, but there really was work waiting for them at home. “Can’t spend all our time playing,” she murmured, tightening her cinch strap and turning to survey her campsite one last time.
“Fire out and ashes scattered,” she muttered, absently pushing her hair behind her ear and tugging on her green bandana, checking off her mental li

Pokie licked at his ice cream and pulled a face when one sticky blob dripped down onto his green square of origami paper. His attempts at wiping it off only served to spread the stain further. Camryn rolled his eyes and chuckled softly.
“Here”, he said, handing over a fresh sheet of paper.
It was a slow, hot day. The sun seemed to be making one last ditch effort to keep the summer going and today temperatures had soared. Camryn did not like heat like that. It made his insides buzz.
“I’m going to get a job”, said Pokie, binning his soiled paper.
Camryn, who’s area of the table was covered in neat little origami frogs, glanced over at his friend curiously.
“Don’t take the bus”, he said, half teasing.
“Camryn! Don’t joke about that”, Pokie scolded him, sitting back down and looking most unimpressed.
For a moment they were both silent. Pokie crunched loudly on the ice cream cone an

"Zachary is. You're going to a testing continent which I will be checking on. There you will learn how to spawn better and teleportation." The woman turned and leaned on the table. "Sound fair?"

It was clear to Lilly when they had arrived before Sonia even said anything. The ringmaster’s cart was huge and painstakingly decorated by wooden carvings painted with red, blue, white, and gold.
“And here you are chica. The ringmaster should be in there. Would you like me to come with you?” Sonia asked.

The only thing that was normal about that day was that the sun rose from the east, set from the rest, and that I ran out of Cheerios. I had to settle for the grainy powdered stuff on the bottom.
“Ugh,” I mumbled under my breath, tasting the gross combo of Cheerio dust and milk. “We need more cereal,” I said to no one in particular.
“I don’t think it matters anymore,” said Carmen, my sister. She preferred to be called “Wolfy” for some particular reason, but I only teased
Minime ~Chapter 21I woke up earlier than usual the next morning, my guilt ridden brain unable to find much sleep at all, really, after Marcus's comments the night before. I'd lain in bed for hours, my eyes staring blankly up at the cream plastered ceiling. Distant memories of my past with the shrunken flittered in and out, refusing to leave me in peace from the endless suffering I'd inflicted over the years. I'd just be drifting off and then Marcus would scream in agony in my head, just as he'd sounded the day I broke both his legs to stop him complaining so much.Minime ~Chapter 2120 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This

Several men had indeed survived, albeit crippled. A majority of them died on that field.

No, just her. The man stuck his hand in the bag and fished out a melon half. Keena took it from him and studied the yellow fruit. She took a cautious bite out of it. The next few months were nothing but a blur of noise, voices, lights, the feeling of something being attached to her arm, the feeling of drifting in and out of consciousness at random moments after having some kind of mask placed on her face. Everything was strange, but Keena barely reacted. All she could do was lie there in a partially dazed and weak state. But she still had some of her senses. She could still feel the pain in her back from the bullets, the wound on her leg from the boar and the bite on her arm from the Alsatian. They were still terrible. But something was different. Now, whenever it became so painful that she would cry out, she'd feel a hand stroke her head and hear a quiet "Shhh...." She couldn't react, but it was soothing... she wanted to open her eyes to see where she was, but everything felt far too heavy and aching for her to do so. Strangely, I awoke laying on my side, while that did happen occasionally, it didn’t often. I passed by Carmen’s room on the way to the bathroom. She looked like a pile of fur, I attributed that to the possibility that she had her fuzzy blanket wrapped around her. The AC did make it too cold sometimes, I hated the cold, I always felt like it slowed me down in some way.
I stepped on another God-forsaken LEGO! I made a loud hissing sound, startling myself. “I didn’t know I could make that sssound,” I mumbled. I figured brushing my teeth and washing the morning grogginess from my eyes, which was unusually strong today, was my first priority. A quiet life. That is what most think of when they think of a retirement.
But that is impossible when living in a rowdy group of chimpanzees. But Keena liked it that way. There was always something to do, someone to be with and something to look forward to. A whole new world that she had never known. It was beautiful. Her life had suddenly become beautiful.
It was a quiet summer afternoon –about two years after Keena first ventured out- and Keena and four others were busy in a grooming session. She was grooming Rita, who seemed to be enjoying her pampering. She suddenly felt a pair of hands on her shoulders and she turned to see Mitch grooming her back. She huffed and continued to groom the female. Suddenly, she heard a loud shriek meaning Patch had been annoyed by a member and was now in a display.
