It's because they can have their own kid, a new one, who hasn't been used before. Like buying a car: you want the price of the used one, but you want the new one for a fresh start- one you can truly call your own.
I sling my bag over my shoulder and open the window. The night is cold and clear; I can see all the constellations above. I leave a note- they should at least know how I feel. My feet hit the ground with a small thud and I run.
I know I need to get far away before the sun comes up. It reminds me of a line from one of my favorite movies.
I pay for a subway pass and board. My plan is to ride until I get to the edge of the city and catch a train from there. I might hitchhike at some point during the night. I take a seat in the empty car; funny, I've never been in an empty subway car before.
I say empty, though there is one other person in the

Monsters live within UsThere was a forest once that no sensible human being ever dared to enter. And each who had was never seen again. And there was one girl with a desire, burning at her chest, to enter, to understand what happened to those who entered. The forest in front of her seemed to be watching her, daring her to enter, luring her in. As she stepped forewords, the trees seemed to whisper to her, with a slow, low rumble, their hissing sinking into the deepest and darkest crevices of her being. Their branches, began grabbing at her soul, willing her to give into the darkness, to succumb to the evil within. They pulled at her, begging, pleading that she remain with them where it was safe. Safe from the cares of others, the stares, the judgments, everything that she hated about mankind. Death groaned as he shook his head. "You are beginning to act like you are my father. Jesse is my son, not yours. Besides, he wants to stay here with me..." he paused - "but...on second thought, he does need help. You know what? Fine. Just give me a moment." Bic nodded in understanding as Death knelt down to be level with Jesse.

The wind howled outside of the pale stag's den. Snow had not fallen last night and it was not falling now, though it was still biting and chilly. Nightfall was quickly approaching and it would only grow colder. Many huddled together, trying their best to stay warm and keep from growing too cold. They stayed in large numbers-more body heat that way. But, one stag had isolated himself from the others. He lay alone and shivering in his own den, curled into a tight ball. His eyes were squeezed shut, tears welling around them as he blocked out the world. He had done his job today... It had taken all that he had in him to finish his patrols and his rounds.... Now he was off duty and home...now he was fighting back the pain even harder.
They were gone. His sister...his nieces...his nephews... His son. They had all fled with Drustan when the herd had formed an angry mob... Lune had know that his family had fled, but...not Lux... It was not until afterwards that he realized that

The summer was a magnificent time of year, especially in the lush forest of the earthen kingdom. Here life was buzzing even when the season was starting to come to a close; the forests were greener than ever and while the amount of flowers had gone down they still flowered all over the place, to an extend helped by the new 3 year olds who ran around happily growing whatever they could whenever and wherever they wanted. It was a delightful sight to those who had fawns close to their heart. Amongst those who did so was a certain lord known well for his weight, but also for calm heart, level-minded head and ability to speak. Lord Hrothgar did, despite not having many fawns, greatly enjoy seeing the years’ (royal) crop running around happily, doing whatever was appropriate for their age. Once in a while he even joined it himself, if even for mere moments by growing a little filly a flower or by letting a colt ram him without saying no. Oh the joy of young life; so car

And in one of the dressing rooms, a striped Hissi with blond hair was getting ready for her own performance. Her name was Faith Handler, but her stage name was Whispered Faith. She was a singing diva and pop idol. She had many fans and she adored the crowds of people who came to listen to her. But she was always haunted by one thing, even though she was only 21 years old she still thought that she was getting old. She had been singing for her fans since she was 18 years old, first in a band called Impurity, then out on her own. Aria led Org straight to her house.
“This is where me and my father live. We can rest here tonight, but we should put the animals in the stables first.” Aria led Org around the house, casting a worried glance over Beast's massive frame.
Aria quickly walked Boaz into the stables, removed his saddle, and locked him in one of the two stalls. She was in a hurry. Right outside the tiny building Org had gotten off Beast and was holding the reins in one hand and another over his mouth in a thoughtful manner as he scanned the stables. The building was only meant for two, maybe three horses if you didn't mind packing them in. It would've been a tight fit to get Beast in even if there weren't stalls.
“Um, I really should go warn my dad about you.” Aria winced

“Like, I'd know!” Bane angrily shouted back.
Aria had only met the two of them earlier in the day, and they were a strange pair. Nate was tall and twiggy, and had the air – and attire for that matter – of a scholar, not the master of an adventurer's guild. Bane on the other hand was just as tall as Nate – albeit with a hunch the gave Nate the lead – and muscular arms that seemed like jokes when paired with his receding grey hair, and distended beer belly. Bane was much more like what the leader of an adventurer's guild should be, a wizened, crippled old man with a story for each of his numerous scars and at least ten for his limp and twenty for his hunch. Bane, however, was the secretary.
If Aria had been left to guess, she would've assumed the two shared a father son relationship, mentor and student, master and apprentice. She wasn't even close. Bane was a surly old man w

Rapid clicking and twitching. A small unenthused part of his distracted mind had to wonder what had that spider so aggravated. Perhaps being in the small enclosure upon the desk was bothering it so.
Maybe a test was performed on it that it didn’t quite approve of. Perhaps it was just bored, or saw pray just out of its reach.
He gathered his brother could have shed some light on the matter but said spider demon was fast asleep on the bed next to him.
The exhausted, though wide awake deity turned over, noting the textbook atop Claude’s face, hearing the mumbled breaths of a dozing man beneath it.
He quietly sat up, removing the book and leaving it on the desk beside him. He took a moment, simply looking at him thoughtfully, before smoothing out one of his out of place bangs and leaving him to rest, softly exiting the room. Slowly tiptoeing out into the hallway. And inevitably sneaking out the front door of their hidden home within the sma

He stepped lightly so as not to wake her. The dim candle light flickered and cast strange shadows on the wall behind him. One small floorboard decided it would torment him by creaking as he placed his weight on it. Freezing in place, he turned his neck to look back at her. She breathed regularly and did not stir. He refused to exhale while he nimbly moved on. The floor whispered as he removed his weight from the floor, but she continued sleeping soundly. Eventually he escaped the room without another noise.
After moving through the hall, his shoulders relaxed and he walked more freely through the living room. There were no candles lit in the living room, but he did not need any source of light to successfully find the book on the shelf across the way. Counting three books from the left, he pulled the volume back gently and smiled. The smell of paper filled his nose as he thumbed through the pages. His eyes were closed, yet he could begin to s

In our eyes, life isn’t always fair and square, let alone an easy task. Life comes with a hundred, even a thousand of little hurdles. May it be a fear of heights or spiders. Or someone dear to you who passed away. Or even just a bad grade at school.
All those little and big things in our life never seem fair to us.
But on the other hand we tend to forget about all the beautiful things we get in life. The warm feeling of the sun on our skin on a beautiful spring day. Our favourite song playing on the radio. Or that genuine smile we got from that stranger we passed by the other day.
But let’s put that away for now and get back to the initial topic. I get carried away way too easily.
To be honest, I don’t remember how many times I already wished for something. There are so many wishes that come up through the whole day but then I forget about th

It was snowing and the ground was gathering up the snow from all around, covering up the streets of Silverfang until it was up to the ankles of the foxes. Distraught, some of them escaped the winter nightmare to head back to their buildings or home. Closing the doors as they had locked them, Isole chuckled and turned her head. She, unlike everyone else, loves snow and wants to play in it. Her bodyguard, Kaira, disliked the snow and stayed home in the castle. Hello folks, this is my latest addition to my library of fanfiction stories. I hope you enjoy the first chapter to my story. Enjoy!
The sky is a mix of light red and light yellow. There are few clouds in the sky but the very few that are present are heaving with color. What little wind there is brings a sense of calm. A long road in the middle of the landscape is quiet and devoid of any movement, and has been for some time. All in all, it's a nice day outside…but this is a calm state that will not last for very long, for a storm is approaching.
A van drives past the speed limit toward a farm house. The van screeches as it comes to a sudden halt several hundred feet from the property. A young man inside quickly takes out a Motorola Razr from his pocket, flips open the phone, and makes a call, "Come on…come on!" He shouts loudly to himself before exiting the v
