I look around, the street was empty. I look back to him, he was staring at me.
"Me?" I ask.
"Yes." he stands shakily.
"...Hi...?" I look at him through squinting eyes.
"Who are you...?" he asks, his voice slowly turning into a low drone.
"Me?" I laugh slightly, "Who are you?"
"Why does it matter?" he asks.
"What did you do?" I tilt my head, floating toward him.
"What-what did I do?" he seemed confused.
"I'm a demon, only bad people see me...how can you see me?" I float over him.
"How are you a demon?" he asks.
"How are you talking to me?" I ask back.
"How come you're wearing that hat?" he shoots back.
"How come you're not?" I ask.
"Why do you have boots on?" he asks.
"How come you're asking so many questions?" I snort.
"And you're not?" he crosses his arms.
We sit there, staring at each other.
"...It's cold." I say.
"What?" he asks.
"It's really cold up here, not like at home, and as for the boots, it's wet too." I say simply.
"Oh." he's still loo

Werehyena by Definition
Were-hyena is a neologism coined in analogy to werewolf for therianthropy involving hyenas. It is common in the folklore of North Africa, the Horn of Africa and the Near East, as well as some adjacent territories. Unlike werewolves and other therianthropes, which are usually portrayed as being originally human, some werehyena lore tells of how they can also be hyenas disguised as humans.
In the Kanuri language of the former Bornu Empire in the Lake Chad region, were-hyenas are referred to as bultungin which translates into "I change myself into a hyena". It was once traditionally believed that one or two of the villages in the region were populated entirely by were-hyenas, such as Kabultiloa.
In Ethiopia, it is traditionally believed that every blacksmith, whose trade is hereditary, is really a wizard or witch with the power to change into a hyena. These blacksmith were-hyenas are believed to rob graves at m

“I think she’s waking up finally.”
The voice is soft spoken, happy. “Sit up dear, would you?”
As vision clears, she sits up from what seems to be an operating table.
“Who are you?” she tilts her head and looks at the figure before her. He sits in a chair, a mask covering his face.
“I’m your creator. You can call me Father.” he gestures his hand to his left and she turns her head to the direction he was pointing to. “This is Phoenix. I am also his creator.” There was a moment of silence before Father stood before her. “Do you know your name?” the girl shakes her head and he sighs. “I was afraid you would say that. Considering you took a while to regain your consciousness.” he chuckled.
“Father. Will she be alright?” Phoenix stepped forward, his amber eyes locked with the girl.
“Well….” he took out a min

One day of hard work almost done.
The briny stink of fishmongers filled her nostrils as she hurriedly swept around the tables and bar, and she cringed in disgust. By now she should be used to it- even her husband was a fisherman- but she was not.
The years had passed; only three years since her dash to freedom! Though she did her best not to return to her memories of slavery, she found that sometimes she missed the rich earthy smell of tilled soil and the tingling taste of fresh scuttle.
Three years and she had met a man. A good strong Nord fellow, with a head of wood and a heart of pearl. She had opened a bunkhouse-tavern. Even mothered a juicy, happy, spoilt son.
Hla Oad was anything but exciting, but it afforded her and her family wealth and prosperity. And was as far away from her past her

Rougarou represents a variant pronunciation and spelling of the original French loup-garou. According to Barry Jean Ancelet, an academic expert on Cajun folklore and professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the tale of the rougarou is a common legend across French Louisiana. Both words are used interchangeably in southern Louisiana. Some people call the monster rougarou; others refer to it as the loup-garou.
The rougarou legend has been spread for many generations, either directly from French settlers to Louisiana (New France) or via the French Canadian immigrant’s centuries ago.
In the Cajun legends, the creature is said to prowl the swamps around Acadiana and Greater New Orleans, and possibly the fields or forests of the regions. The rougarou most often is described as a creature with a human body and the head of a wolf or dog, similar to the werewolf legend.

Outside, things were not going well.
The newly resurrected Demechrelle, her body now hewn of rock and stone, was finally bringing the full might of her magical prowess to bear. The air buzzed with magic as Demechrelle cast spell after spell. She was no longer underestimating her opponents. She was truly using everything in her considerable arsenal to remove her enemies. Lightning forked downward from the clouds; geysers of molten lava erupted from the streets of the torn up city; and balls of fire streaked across the sky, seeking flying targets like guided missiles. Each time one of those balls struck a target, they would detonate with a puff of fire and smoke, like the shot from a flak cannon.
The fairies had their hands full just staying clear of trouble, much less trying to protect the virtually defenseless flying humans and their harpy mounts. Although the fairies had magic at their disposal as well, they were limited in their powers. So

---December 25, 2012---
I sat on the couch in my living room, just below the Christmas tree. I remembered bitterly how I'd missed Christmas four times because of Darkrai, but that was behind me now. Now, I only had the future to look to.
It had only been a month since Darkrai was killed. I still had nightmares about those three years, that fight with Darkrai, and my trip to the other side. But, I was getting better.
I glanced at the clock. It was still early in the morning, and no one else was awake in the base. Or at least, I thought no one was awake until I heard footsteps coming from the hall.
There stood Mary, staring at the Christmas tree, just as she'd done everyday since we put it up. "Mary?"
She jumped when I spoke. "Oh, Pat. Sorry, I was just looking at the tree."
"What about the tree?"
"Well, it's just...I've never been able to celebrate Christmas...this is all new to me."
"Well, then this will be your first, and I hope it stays with you forever," I spoke
Where Scribes Fell - Part IThe rays of Halla scorched Peti's neck through the white veils while he climbed up the steep hillside of Hammer Mountains. The fine sand dust had dried his mouth and throat, but water had to be reserved for the return trip, and the liquid he was after was far from potable. If only his companion, Ustis, hadn't been devoured with most of their equipment by a nasty sand swallower. Onom's mercy upon their core, Peti reflected in the welcome shade provided by a large overhang. He soon realized that he was now very close to his destination since the overhang was shaped as an eagle spreading its protective wings.Where Scribes Fell - Part I14 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Small window holes of the cave abode were well hidden amongst the rough rock formations, but small decorative features, such as stony flowers, revealed the place. Peti located the entrance under a tall arch guarded by a stone-conjured knight statue, which was threateningly holding a traditional Nendian warhammer in its right hand. Luckily, master Guenkue had taught him that no stone

Getting There, Chapter 1I looked in the mirror and watched my face crinkle into frustration as I struggled with my bowtie. Today was my first day of high school at Lake Edge Preparatory School and already I was facing obstacles, mainly the uniform: Freshly ironed black pants, crisp long sleeved button down white shirt, and a dark green bowtie. I felt like some sort of miniature butler. Also my name was a little weird- Rusty. Okay, my full name was Russell Hallan Phillips, but nobody called me that. My best friend, Joey, had come up with his own nickname (Smudge) to make me feel not so out of place, but still.Getting There, Chapter 117 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This

I opened the door and hurried down the stairs

The dragon closed in. The distance between the beast and the elf girl shattered. Fear shone in the elf's eyes, no matter how hard she tried to conceal her fright. The great creature's hot, sulfurous breath washed through the cave that the elf had turned to for her desperately needed shelter. She knew, now, that she should have chosen a different cave. Not that this knowledge was of any consequence now. She was doomed to the intestines of an enormous, fire-breathing, water-dwelling dragon.
A low growl rumbled from the dragon's throat. Another, more insistent, growl came. The pitches fluctuated, as if he was trying to speak. The dragon blew smoke at her impatiently, as if in wait of an answer. The girl coughed as the smoke enveloped her. The dragon grabbed her in its talons and promptly put her in what appeared to be a box. A box made of cold, cracked stone. The dragon’s talons scraped against the roughly-hewn

A monster made out of metal came at them from the corner of the group's eyes.
It's metal arms snapped menacingly at the targets with hungry anticipation.
"Elemental blades!" A girl cried unleashing her magical attack on the unsuspecting enemy!
The girl did a flurry of strikes as four huge blades wielding the elements tore up their metal bodies, in a combination of electrical sparks darting towards the enemy, wind blades cutting up the enemy, blue flower petals made up water exploded around the enemy, and finally finishing up with a flaming finishing move. It was an outstanding overkill. The four huge transparent blades disappeared and appeared in magical sparkles as a single sword strapped to the girl's side like nothing happened. Pink glossy lips curved into a proud smile at her success.
With their mouths agape, everyone was in awe at this powerful move.
"Hehe, another one bites the dust!"
`All of my training has really paid off.'
The girl smiled h

The wild boar raised his massive head. He was suspicious. Very suspicious. And with good reason. He grunted and swung his head from left to right. His breath came out in clouds of vapor in the cool air of late autumn. Suddenly, the thick bushes to his left parted and a large, blond, heavy man charged forward, roaring at the top of his lungs, holding an impressive spear in front of him. The boar turned and attacked, but not fast enough. A second, slightly less tall and much lighter and more nimble figure appeared as well and thrust his spear in the animal’s flank. A third hunter, almost as big and broad as the first, jumped out from the undergrowth to the left. The two heavy hunters simultaneously struck and skewered the giant boar with their spears. The animal squealed one last time and dropped dead.
“Got it!” the blond hunter exclaimed. He slapped the nimble hunter on the shoulder, which made him almost fall over. “Now how did tha

All was quiet in the town, the wind whistled through the town as no life was to be seen or heard as the crunching footsteps of the demon army marched through, destroying all in the way as they approached Thanesan castle. Upon the outer walls of the castle, stood Jurian with a red bandana upon his head with his arms crossed as he was entrusted with leading the army in the coming battle. He looked upon all the soldiers that had assembled for the coming fight, many veterans and novices stood in varying levels of armor and wielding what weapons they could gather. “Good people of Thanesan, I, Jurian of the Ursine Moon, stand before you as I we face the armies of Argosia. I won’t lie to you that we face Death like never before but I have the utmost faith in you. Legends of Time: Chapter I: Home A girl danced around the large room she was in, her bright blue hair flowing out behind her as she danced. Inside the area, was a large mechanical forest that was filled with crystals, and now snow due to the fall of Cocoon. In the middle of it, a flash appeared, leaving Ken, Vanille, and Fang there as they landed on one of the mechanical tree limbs, looking around.
"Whoa...What is this place?" Ken asked while he kept looking. "Any one of you been here before?"
"Nah, never did before." Fang said before looking at Vanille. "Did ya?"
"No, I never have." She said. "But I think...Maybe this is the Gapra Whitewood. A place where the Sanctum tested some...Things." They all looked around, seeing one of the panther-like animals half machine, lying there dead and covered in snow.

As Ella took Sir William's hat and coat, her heart stung at Ariana's words. 'The servant girl...' that was as highly as her own sister thought of her. She'd been called that and worse many times b

I allowed the boat to drift to the bank. It rocked a bit once it hit the bank, but we managed to stay in. I watched in the windows of the house; it was relatively small, a simple place for people with simple needs. Wouldn't have to be too big, even with a dragon in there.
I was the first to step out, making my way to the door. There were plenty of squelching sounds from the mud on the ground, and the sounds of wildlife made it all the more eerie.
I brushed aside the Spanish moss hanging down from the trees over shadowing the porch. This was followed by a couple of hard knocks on the wooden door, and a few seconds of waiting. After those few seconds, the sound of a shotgun being loaded came from within. "If you're a friendly, say so. Otherwise, you're breakfast," said a man's voice.
"Rio sent us out here. We're looking for Alex and Snowsong."
Footsteps came to the door, and the old hinges squeaked as the door swung open. There stood a werewolf with a double barrel 12-gauge

“The pelleds seemed to think otherwise.”
Hari gave an annoyed sigh, not wanting to bother taking the argument any further, when he felt his own stomach give a yelp. His ears flattened with embarrassment as Della gave a snide chuckle.
“Seems I’m not the only one eager for a snack.”
“We’ll ask Bejda if perhaps he has anything we could eat when we get to the apothecary,” Hari muttered.
Before their conversation could continue, Della lifted her tiny nose to the air and gave a few sniffs. “Do you smell that?”

News spread of their power as travelers, merchants and passer-bys return to their homes and tell tales of a land inhabited solely by mages.
