MI5 agent Niles Townston awoke in a comfortable but strange bed, with his partner Kate Morrows still asleep in his arms. She had been too tired last night to do much else but sleep, which wasn't surprising. The evening before they had confronted one Jacob Schutter and his family, thinking they had been up to something. After Melinda Thorn the MI5 Director, who had been meeting with Schutter, revealed that Niles and Kate had Jake under audio Surveillance. The two Agents
Blinded: Part 5The indescribable color of the portal between worlds flashed red as Nero's troops poured out of it, red like flowing blood seeping from a wound. They would never return to the other world, one way or another.Blinded: Part 513 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
The Dragon was wheeled out next, asleep on a rolling wooden cart, which the portal had distorted in order to fit such a large contraption through. It was an experiment the first time, letting the Dragon enter the portal, but though the portal distorted the creature, it was apparently unharmed.
The Shade came next, hovering silently as death above the muddied soil of the Netherland's forests. It had been apparently satisfied at the Thing's death, knowing full well that the most prominent threat to its existence was vanquished. If it was possible to float with an air of smugness, the Shade accomplished that feat.
And lastly came the devil Nero himself. He still wore the long trench coat accompanied with shades that he had apparently taken from one of the dead criminals. His red skin
Double Acts (Chapter 1: A double split friendship)''Oh gosh, how the heck is it 7am ALREADY?!" moaned Misty as she reached out from her bed and tried to find the snooze button to shut her mum up. "Wakey wakey sweetie, it's Friday and time for school" chirped her mother, even though her daughter was still whacking her up the head trying to get her to shut up and go away. "Misty, get up or no pancakes." Said her mother. She couldn't handle it. Misty sat up in bed, turned around and bolted up and out the door towards the kitchen for a special Friday breakfast, her favourite, Pancakes with butter and sugar. Simple but beautiful. After the usual morning routine of breakfast, get changed, go to bathroom, yada yada yip yip, It was time to leave for school. Misty was a fifth year at her school. she was also one of the younger ones in her class, turning 16 after the Christmas break. Amy and Sticks had been talking quietly at the other end of the room. Now they hurried to Sonic, eyes wide.
"What's going on?" Amy asked.
Sonic shrugged, pulled out his headset and plugged it into his ear. "Hey Tails, you there?"
"I'll tell you what's happening," Sticks said darkly. "A thousand million robots are outside, trying to find a way in." She produced her boomerang and brandished it like a gun.
Sonic nodded, listening. "Looks like Eggman sent some spy drones to see what we're doing out here. How Tails and Knux know that from downstairs is beyond me."
"We knew Eggman would find out eventually," said Amy with a sigh. "I just hoped it'd take a while." She looked at the broad staircase leading up to the entrance, and tapped her chin with one finger. "Actually. Why don't we do that?"
She grabbed her backpack a
Brain Hacker - Chapter One "Sit back and relax, Mr.Drabek. If I am correct, this should only hurt your brain just a little~." Dr.Soulton, the scientist, told me as he led me over to the metal armchair. I nodded and shakily sat down onto the cold seat, rubbing my arms before relaxing as much as I could. I don't know why I had agreed to partake in this experiment of his. Everyone, especially me, knows that he's crazy. Shame on me. I just hope I don't regret it afterwards.Brain Hacker - Chapter One18 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Dr.Soulton strapped me to the chair with thick, leather fabric, making me nervous. "W-what was this experiment for again..?" I asked him, stuttering and looking around with my eyes as he strapped my head back onto the chair. "I told you~." He chuckled out. "A very special psychological experiment to see if it's possible to edit memories! It will involve a needle, and sadly I don't have any type of drowsy medication, so it seems you'll just have to stay as quiet as you can as to not alarm anyone." He chuckled again, but

"You are all alone?"
"Do you live around here?"
"No. I do not have a home. I wander."
"I also wander," Yolanda said. "Do you use your magic to travel?"
"No. That is still too difficult for me."
"Yes, it is difficult. I have a ship that I use to travel. Perhaps I can show it to you."
Margareta was quiet for a moment. "...I would like that, yes."
"Wonderful. I look forward to showing you."
There was a short silence. "Are you all alone, Yolanda?" Margareta asked.
"...I am," Yolanda replied.
"Why is that?"
"...I do have a sister," Yolanda said quietly. "She is not with me, however."
Yolanda found herself bothered by the question. And Margareta knew this, as another smile came upon her lips. "...Are you lonely, Yolanda?"
"Are you, Margareta?"
"Not at all."
"Well, I am, I suppose."
Lirin - Chapter 9The fog was thick, her field of vision only encompassed by the cloudy white. The further Nin traversed through it, the sluggish her movement felt as if she were a snail traveling through molasses. When she stopped, the fog swallowed her second half, but that’s when the nagging feeling blossom to truth: This had to be the cause of lirin.Lirin - Chapter 910 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
She couldn’t sense the force, but could feel it. When she erected a finger, drawing the lirin to her, the fog curled about it to the pinnacle of her nail. Nin drew her lips thin and shook her hand to disperse the cloudy white. The limniris wasn’t sure what to think as she had never encountered such a predicament before.
I could wander for days in this and never find a way out, Nin thought. That could be a problem.
Her only options were to press on, so that’s what the elf did. Nin waded through the fog, each step slower than the last. Despite her predicament, she felt strangely calm, as if there really wasn’t t

It’s been several years since we stabbed Mustang. We must have really done it right because he still hasn’t awoken. We all take turns looking after him to make sure the he is alright. Nero and Dad did everything that they could for him, but the plan worked out a little too well and he was so close to death that they were surprised he wasn’t already dead. After the first year, Nero said that the machines were probably the only things keeping Mustang alive and that we should take him off of it. Remy blew a gasket about it and so he’s still on them…

A Dark Horse Dreaming- PrologueThe nightmare started out simply enough. Hallon found himself in a dark place empty of any light, sounds, smells, or objects. The darkness suddenly tore down its middle like a great seam being undone. Blindingly colorless light immediately gushed from the opening and his eyes smarted, watering at their edges.
No, not again.
The light bled out until there was no darkness. Everything suddenly felt blaring and obnoxious and a longing for returning to the quiet blackness rubbed his insides sore.
Please, not again!
A mysterious, gray-purple shape formed from where the darkness had been cut. At first it was small, just a shimmering disturbance in the light. But then it began to grow. It grew at an alarming rate. Hallon felt his heart begin to beat faster and faster.
No. No. Stay away from me!
His voice was lost in the light. The shape grew

"Shut up." She turned around, her eyes dark with irritation.
"I can't concentrate with you talking. So don't. I want to do well, so don't speak. If you feel like you might, go to another room. Please."
A flash fell over his glasses and he tilted his chin upwards before gesturing back to her specimen and backing off.
She pushed her hair back over her shoulder and tied it up quickly, sloppily.
The pig had only been dead for a few hours, cold but not as cold as it could be.
Bruised on it's backside from how long it had been in that position, she noted, the blood sinking and lowering.
The scalpel in her hand was clean, a steady-toned ringing in her ear at a constant as she closed in.
She cut a 'Y' and peeled back the flesh, clipping it to the sides of the animal.

"Uhh, hi." I said awkwardly. Lana stared at me for a few moments, deciding if I was worth talking to.
"Hi." She said after a silence that felt like an eternity.
"I'm Sam, what's your name?" I asked, even though I knew. I didn't want to seem like a stalker.
"Lana." I nodded at her response. More awkward silence. Her eyes never moved from me though, almost like she thought I would be gone if she looked away.
"Might I ask, but what century is it?" Whoa, hold on Lana, it was a weekend. Don't make it process sentences like that on a weekend.
"Its 2015." I said, almost saying 2014 forgetting that new years was seven months ago.
"That is, not possible...1910..." She clutched her head and pulled her knees to her chest. Oops, maybe I shouldn't have told her. Then again, she would probably be smart enough to figure out otherwise.

“Alright, just stick to Dalton Street and Whisner Avenue. You’ll find everything we need there and it’s a pretty safe area. But if someone looks shady or homeless, they probably are so, don’t go up and talk to them.”
“Oh golly, I shouldn’t talk to strangers? I never would have guessed!” Kathy sarcastically replied, grabbing a worn brown jacket from a hook on the wall. “I sure am lucky to have such a sage older brother!” she said, awkwardly pulling her mechanical arm through the hole where the thin jacket’s left sleeve used to be.
“Hey, I just want you to be safe,” Tom said, stuffing a folded piece of paper into the pocket of her jacket as they walked down the hallway toward Richard’s study, “As your older brother it

As the ripples from Alavon's plunge disappeared, Samuel stared at the place from which they had originated.
"That...wasn't her, right?" he said into the stunned silence. "That couldn't've been her."
"Sam..." Teresa murmured.
He tore his gaze from the water to look at his mother's crushed expression.
"She wouldn't have survived that far of a fall." she said, her tone gentle.
"No." he said. "No, that wasn't her."
And yet why did her scream still echo deafeningly in his ears? Dan started the outboard motor with a swift tug and untied their small boat from the dock. Three planks crossed it, like benches. Samuel and Damien sat in the front, Theresa with Michael in the middle, and Dan in the back beside an empty space where Alavon should have been.
As Dan exited the ring of the hotel and made it
A Lycan's Legacy: Chapter 66There wasn't much to talk about on the flight back to Redbank; the previously fatal and potential triggers to my overwhelming transformations on board the plane proving insignificant to faze me in my quest to return to the town that needed me - the people who had treated me like dirt for all of my life as a werewolf inexplicably unleashing the protective and nurturing side of the wolf with the thought of an imminent danger threatening my pack. The first thing on my mind upon touching down once the plane had landed was getting to Redbank as quickly as I could - a feat only possible when resorting to the fastest mode of transport…

Of course this resulted in me having to fully turn. But strangely enough the transformation was quick and painless like it had been for the last couple of shifts, only this time with the added bonus of no longer feeling fully exposed upon morphing, granting me more confi

I snuck out early. I needed to be up early so I could sabotage. I wanted to win. I wanted to represent the fact that robbers are normal people. I hiked hard, club ready. I saw a suspicious-looking forest. I went in. I saw a fairly large tree- big enough to be a home. He went in the largest tree, to find a boy sleeping. He was made of metal. I lifted up my club very high, and slammed my club into him. Fuck. Only a dent. The metal man awoke, seeing me. "Wanna fight? I actually have allies." The green woman, sorceress, that I saw earlier, appeared. She said to words. "It's on."
I raised my club to swing at her, and she sent magic fumes at me. I rolled away, and swiped at her feet. I hit her, very minorly. She then sent fire at me, putting burn marks on my coat. I swung again, but that smart cutie struck me down. I got up, and hit her in the back with a spike. She fell, blood all over her. I noticed that the sword guy was running away. That no matt

Arden piled just enough wood to make it warm, “Lumina, can you help me out?” He'd already laid the warding stones, so the smoke shouldn't be seen.
Laris was setting up a tent, watching the old soldier, his hair barely covering his head, but his beard full and thick. She sometimes thought she loved him, but she wasn't sure in this dangerous time. She didn't want to add any strain.
The five year old girl sat squatted by the fire pit, where the supplies were pilied, clutching her doll to her chest with her finger entwined in the hair, almost like they were braided. Her cheeks were red, eyes big and scared, “Where's Saira?” She looked from Laris, to Arden, “Why hasn't she come yet?” There was an empty feeling in her heart, a hard feeling of need, like a chord stretched tight, pulling harder as the distance grew, ripping into her young heart. She rubbed her chest, looking up at Laris with those big copper ey

"Prince Colin!" The maids hurriedly curtsied to the said male at my door.
"Hello, Colin. I'm surprised you're here!" I smiled calmly on the outside, but on the inside, I really wanted to jump up and down as I squeal in excitement.
"Yeah, your parents invited me. I thought I'd come up here and say 'hi'." He smiled.
I was feeling a bit confused, and I'm sure it showed on my face as I asked, "What were you invited to?"
"I think you should just ask your parents that." He looked a little flustered.
We descended the stairs together as the maids trailed after us. They said that they would be teaching me the rules of being a royal, and I happily agreed. I don't know a thing about being a princess, or even a queen!
My parents were excitedly discussing something that I couldn't quite hear, and neither seemed to notice me. I cleared my throat, causing me to receive their attention immediately. They smiled warmly, but Mom had a mischie

Jack In the Box
How to begin my story…
How does one begin any story, really? Begin at the beginning and end at the end. But where are those points? Birth and death, I suppose. But it would be rather difficult to write of either. My birth I do not recall (and I prefer not to ask details from those who do), and as I have not yet arrived at my deathbed I cannot claim to remember that either. And all the blasted details that go between those times! What a terribly long, dreary story that would be. Besides, I do not write this story for myself so much as I do for another. The most important person I have ever known.
This is a story of dragons and knights, true love and cruelest heart break, poisons, cures, battles, magic, and the humor of destiny. But mostly, this story is about Jack.
Ah! And there is m
Born in Flame- Ch. 3Domino and I flew south along the east coast, leaving Bellmore far behind. We had left before dawn broke the next morning, and judging by the sun, we were making great time. Domino was having the time of his life. The mutt was sitting on my head as I flew, occasionally barking at passing flocks of birds. I could hear his cheeks flapping in the wind as his tongue lolled. I stretched my wings, reveling in the late autumn afternoon sun. I caught a thermal, rising a few hundred feet into the air. I locked my wings, letting the wind carry us towards Jackson, South Carolina. There was a teleport there that would take us to the Alps, where the dragon homeland was. I could fly us there, but that would take about four days. My mother was a little picky about her timelines. Three days meant one.
We had just made it over the North and South Carolina border a little while later, when Domino began to growl. He faced behind me, hackles raised. I gent
