It was the day before the Founders Festival—an event held every year in the town square with music, food, and activities all to commemorate the founding of Chriswood forty years ago. It also just so happened to be his mother’s birthday. Because Aliss’s birthday always got overshadowed by the Founders Festival, Rook and his older sister Bray decided to do something special for their mother this year. They planned on making a secret trip to Oak Bridge to pick her some tiger lilies—her favorite flower.
For a long time Rook’s grandmother Bess owned the local bakery before passing it down to Aliss and her husband Erigg. Old Bess insisted it was a gift to her talented daughter but they knew she did it just so she could focus on her mayoral duties. Yes, Old Bess wa

I let out a stiff groan and the ringing of the clock caught my attention, of course, I huffed and rolled back over. But the shaking only got more violent. I don't even know how she managed to reach me, ignoring she was on the side of my bed, but I was five bunks up.
"Jeze," Sybil pushed me again and I cracked one eye open. The girl gave a small sigh of relief and sat up a little straighter. "Finally you're awake. The clock just went off, its curfew for the humans which means scavenging for us."
Sitting up, I let my messy blonde hair fall into my face. I made no move to brush it away and I looked to Sybil with my violet eyes. "I heard the bell," I said, raising my hands above my head. My cropped nightshirt rose to a few inches above my bellybutton. I blinked tiredly and saw the others were just still getting up.
I should probably explain a few things, before everything starts up, shouldn't I? Well, in our little society, we like to stay close together. Meaning most o

It was a beautiful in the great country of Sindria. The sun is shining and the birds sing their songs. Walking down the halls of Sinbad’s kingdom you hummed a happy, bright melody as you were heading to Ja’far's office. You are his assistant. Your basic tasks were help file paperwork, running papers back and forth to Sinbad or the other Generals. But it wasn’t like this. A couple months ago you use to be just a normal servant of the great kingdom. It all changed when you were suddenly called to Sinbad’s office.
Sitting in Sinbad’s office you fiddled with your fingers feeling nervous. You were a maid of the palace, always working hard, and never goofed off. So you were a bit scared when Sinbad wished to speak with you immediately. Sinbad sat in front of you with a big smile.
“Um… What is it that you want of me my lord?” Sinbad leaned forward, resting his arms on his desk.

"Have they? Are they tidying it up ready for our rehearsals?" Ms Calender knew of course that the students would just be messing around with the props rather than doing any work, but she liked to see just how good a dissembler Julia was. She was usually satisfied that the girl was a poor liar, but given that one of the supposedly waiting students was Paul, Julia's current boyfriend, she thought the lies might be more credible.
"Oh I'm sure they will be working hard Ms. They will be cleaning it up very well." No, she still wasn't a good liar. Ms Calender noticed that Stacy was staring at Julia again with that vulnerable yearning look she always got around Julia
Dire CircumstancesTwo days had passed with no sign of any animals save for birds and scuttling rodents. The moose they had observed that first night had vanished, a gentle rain slowly washing away his trail. It was eerie to walk through such a forest when not even five winters ago it had brimmed with life. In the spring, one could come across families of deer daily and the moose would spend days in the vicinity of the lake. The woods were alive then, the spirits close – playing just beyond the world of the living.Dire Circumstances1 hour ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This

Since ancient times, there have been two beings whose appearance is known to bring disaster. First is the Emerald Fox, a trickster clothed in green garb, who has the ears and tail of a fox. The second is the Demon Blade, a cursed blade which can transform into the form of a woman. First appearing towards the end of the Roman Empire, the two were said to bring fire and destruction wherever they roamed. The relationship between the two was unclear, up until the fifteenth century, when the French playwright Jacques Thorne immortalised the two in the play, aptly named, “Le Renard et La Lame”.
In the play the fox, simply named Renard, was a slave who fought in the gladiatorial arena, utilizing the Demon Blade, named Lame, as his weapon. As he killed more and more, the sword gained a life of its own, eventually becoming sentient. Lame grew to love Renard, who seemed to care deeply for her. But Renard’s heart belonged to another, the daughter of a
To tame a giant: Prologue Years ago, two worlds lived in peace. Giants and humans were close as brother and sister. Then, the giants and humans realized something about each other: one, the giants realized they liked the taste of humans. Two, the humans realized that after wearing a giant down, then uttering the ancient words of servitude, “Sanguine coniuncti sumus”, or “We are united by blood”, the giants would become much more powerful, and would be forced into a state of servitude or partnership with the human that bonded them.To tame a giant: Prologue 1 hour ago in Short Stories More Like This
As expected, conflict amongst the giants and humans erupted soon after. The giants, who felt they were too powerful to be controlled by the humans, and the humans, who were sick of being treated like no more than livestock to the giants. There was a great war between the two powerful races, which ended rather quickly, with the downfall of the humans, who were truly no match for their giant opponent

It was dusk now, and the outskirts of Arendelle were blanketed in a thick fog. Captain Alek and Queen Elsa rode onward, off of the constructed pathways and onto the darkened fields. The sounds of their horses galloping against the earth were pleasant and serene in the silence of the coming night. With winter in full swing, Alek shivered at the harsh conditions. Even his gloved fingers went numb as they gripped the reins. As for Elsa, well...the cold never really bothered her. She slowed down her mare and removed a glove. Raising her hand high, she absorbed the chill and sent it breezing elsewhere. Her magic did away with the intensity of the fog as well.
Alek looked to his queen, "Thank you."

The off-key tone was bad enough, but Otsoa couldn’t believe that whoever it was, was singing about mullets of all things. Moreover, this person definitely didn’t belong inside. For some reason, the side door had been purposely propped wide open, further piquing

The clock on the wall made Toby flinch with every second that passed. A sudden knock on his door made him jump, and the way he'd been shaking since he was brought in hadn't gotten any better. Slender had found him outside, and he had gone from curled up in the leaves to curled up in Slenders lap, where he still was. "Come in." Slender replied as EJ walked through the door, pausing when he saw Toby clinging to Slender like a small child to its mother. That brought back memories...
EJ cleared his throat so Toby would look up, and when he did, it made EJ wince. "She's going to wake up soon..." He said quietly. "I think it would be good if you were the first person she saw." Slender looked down at Toby, who looked up at him, and gave him a nod. Toby slid off Slenders lap and walked out of the room, grabbing EJ's hand as he passed by. "Will she be okay?" He whispered. He didn’t mind. Admittedly it was exiting getting to wander a new place. Robby’s feet carried him down corridors lonely and cold, strolling through musty chambers. Silent as an owl, he walked. To this day he wasn’t used to not having audible footsteps. It surely had to be one of the odder traits of being undead.
Robby took a turn. He strolled down the lower ramparts to a room with a glass roof. He could tell in one whiff that this place used to be a conservatory. Once it might’ve brimmed with plants, healthy and green. The room was anything but now. The walls were black with age.
Pride 8: The Vault/His StoryThe blood vault rested in an ancient wine cellar below the castle. It stretched as far as the eye could see under a barreled roof. Chandeliers colored the cellar amber. Rows of barrels lined the walls, once filled with wine, but now each of them was marked with a different blood type. The sight of this place was impressive.Pride 8: The Vault/His Story3 hours ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This

“Gotta keep the blood fresh, you know.” Arye said. “You feel chilly?”
“I am still shirtless, Arye.”
“Yeah, but you’re undead too. Temperatures don’t affect you anymore. Well, not to the extent as they did when you were still human.”
Robby nodded. “I miss being human…life was easier then

There was movement at his back, the shed vampires rousing from sleep. They laid their eyes on the taller one and froze. Robby’s hands trembled,
