Bones and Stones 'Twas not a bad place, by any stretch of the imagination, though of course she had not seen the whole of it. Jamiel's courtyard was easily the most welcoming of the rooms she had seen, however; and it was to this the effect of her thoughts were aimed. The dome of it seemed to be made of a clear material, something like glass in function if not in actuality. So far beneath the lake, a glass ceiling would easily prove fatal in the event one of those dark, cloud-like shapes took more than a passing interest in the sanctuary.Bones and Stones4 minutes ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
Despite her less than tasteful 'initiation' into the Brotherhood, she found she was not ill at ease here. At least in the moment, beneath the soft glow of the faerie lights, drinking in the night air and listening to the sounds of an ecosystem out of place. Though, fairly, she recognized that this ease would only remain if she gave it little thought. There were still many things that wriggled in the back of her mind like la

Friday came along, me and Yuu finally went to Crystal Beach. It was way prettier then I thought! The rock's seemed to sparkle in the moon light, the water sung it's slow, quiet song. We walked along the beach for a bit. I made sure to look out for that one special rock. Yuu talked about the water, and the beauty of it. I thought he was more beautiful, though. We eventually came across one rock. It was a heart! Just the right size, to! I rushed over, with my bag and put it in, making sure Yuu wasn't looking. I came back to him, and threw my arms around him. He wrapped me up and laid us down on a blanket. We stared at the stars. I saw many constellations. Big Dipper, Little Dipper, ect. Yuu rolled on his side and smiled at me. My face got warm, I smiled back. He slipped his hand into mine, squeezing my hand gently, muttering gentle "I love you's".
Our mother's came and parted us. I pretty sad to leave Yuu, but I would see him tomorrow. Besides, I have a rock to work on. I go

She went into the bathroom and stared at her reflection. Her hair was mostly dry, and she ran her fingers along a section of it, wondering if she should get her hands on something sharp and hack it all off. The only time she'd ever had a significant amount of it cut was in prison, and at the time she'd sworn she'd never do it again, but now…well, it was tempting.
It wouldn't make him leave you alone. He'd just find some other way to freak you out.
Probably true, but it was still tempting. The bastard was making her hate her own hair, and it was likely only going to get worse.
She grabbed a handful of it and held it out. The grey had advanced noticeably in the weeks since she'd come here, threaded among the black. It was the only really pretty feature she had, and she was starting to loathe it. Da

Daniel had to admit it, his trip to the aquarium didn’t turn out half that bad with his school group. Actually, he thought, it was better than okay, it was great. He would have never thought that his studies in marine biology would in turn make his experience at the aquarium into a memorable one. As he and his friends chattered as they walked towards the exit, he smiled. The opportunity to actually go in and dive in some of the tanks, and then, after all that, actually being able take part in feeding the sharks? He highly doubted this trip was one he would forget.
“It’s too bad there’s a butt load of homework to go with all of this.” Alan stated, drawing out long groans from Daniel and the other member in the group, Eli. “Hey, I won’t lie. It why Danny here was having such a fit b

When I was young, my parents went missing. One day, they were here in my nest with me, but back then it was our nest, and they were singing to me the rules of the forest: a person must never hurt the trees or the animals and whatever is taken inside the forest must stay inside the forest. Not even fruits may leave, unless the person has permission from the tree the fruit came from to spread the seed somewhere else.
A person cannot abuse the animals or try to turn them into pets, because they are as much a part of the forest as the trees are and they are proud creatures. The birds cannot be caged and the ground must be left just as it is without false shelters. Nests are fine, that was why we lived in one. But the forest’s canopy was our roof and the trees gave their branches to us when we were cold in the winter and fruit or vegetables when we were h

Escape had seemed like a game to her, an obstacle course. Capture had been terrible, but it could have been borne. No, it was the corpses that broke her.
She hadn't seen many physically disgusting things in her life, and even her worst nightmares hadn't done justice to the horror on that tarmac. For the first time in her life, her sunny nature had deserted her.
Geezer often sat with her, silent but there. He didn't say much, but he never needed to.
Gerald was the unexpected one. He brought her little gifts, the things she liked: hair care supplies, chocolate, even a bottle of whipped cream vodka he found God only knew where. Geezer made sure she rationed it, and she shared it with him, though he complained horribly about the taste. The surprising thing was that Gerald asked absolutely nothing of her in return. Katje had plenty of experience with men plying her in an effort to get in her pants, and

He'd had plenty of time to shower and change when they returned. The orderlies dealt with the inmates, imprisoning them in holding cells deep underground. All but Donovan, with whom he needed to…talk.
He'd had no idea she'd be capable of something like that stunt she'd pulled with the helicopters. Taking down walls required only brute strength; taking down helicopters took a precision he hadn't known she possessed. She probably hadn't known it either, until just then. The woman was even more trouble than he'd bargained for.
She was currently still very unconscious, laid out on a gurney at the center of the room. Sooty, sweaty, filthy, her hair matted and filled with debris -- she looked quite out-of-place in the otherwise tidy room. The light of his (third) desk lamp was muted: he didn't want her seeing anything with clarit

The morning found him broken, in a crumpled heap with half his aching bulk frozen numb in the icy creek. His breaths were audible, frosting against the chilly air, and he counted out each one as it sounded, numbering them against the beating of a heart he might have never heard again. He was alive. And more importantly: so was she.
Jamiel's unfocused eyes drank in the sight of the rising sun, the pastel colours against the bleary blue of the waking sky. His inner monologue was not composed of coherent sentences so much as a great, outward spewing relief; he let the tide of it wash over him to ease the terror from his mind. She lived, and she was safe. Every breath he drew was a testament to it, and he had to work those breaths down from the grateful hiccups they wished to become. A rhythm, now, was the most important thing, for both of them.

The whir of computers, the beeping of life support machines, and the smell of rubbing alcohol would be the first thing many people noticed when they stepped into Norman’s military-financed laboratory. The glass containers filled with the developing fetuses of numerous species of animals would come second, and the short guy in the corner mumbling obscenities under his breath would be third; that is, if you could manage to see him through the tangle of computer wires, stacks of medical journals and lab reports, and dirty takeout containers. The home and haunt of a modern day mad scientist. But Norman Scarpezzi wasn’t mad, he just loved his work, even when it did stupid shit like deleting his previous report on the development of the newest biological weapon the government had commissioned for him. He didn’t like the Scandinavian weather much either, but that he could handle. This, though, was serious.

Anything you want to reveal is fine by me, although after watching that… *ahem* "show" you put on when you died; I'd like to know more about who that sleeping person was.
"Oh him? You want to know about him? He's not really all that interesting to say the least…"
Well tell me anyway.

I almost called for Kai, until I realized that I was on top of Luke, still in my wedding dress. I sat up on the bed, and remembered last night.
Smiling, I walked towards the bathroom, and took a long shower. Walking back out in a light green dress, with purple accents on it, I saw that Luke was awake.
"Hey." I greeted.
"Hey..." He mumbled, scratching his chestnut hair.
"We have to get up, and spend our first day as husband and wife!" I exclaimed, pulling on his arm.
"Since when did we get married?"
I glared at him, and dumped snow down his back.
"Ah! Cold! Cold cold cold!" He screamed, jumping out of the bed.
I grinned at my hand. Mom was right. That DID work.
Through the door, Luke shouted," What are we supposed to do together again?"
"Go on something called a honeymoon."
"And what is that? Some trip we go on after our wedding?"
"Of course not..." I grumbled sarcastically.
I was surprised when Luke and I walked down to the kitchen, and Momma a

“I mean, seriously. Badger moles are smart animals and all, but if one popped out of the ground to say hello I’d just bite its head off.” Toph rubbed her little aching belly. “Maybe I could eat you. You feel

He walked slowly towards his window, amber eyes narrowing as he looked around. The sky was a deep blue, and the grass was a bright green, and the flowers outside his window were just as vibrant as the two combined. There was a sudden tinkling noise, though his wind chime was silent, and suddenly a colourful light flit in front of his eyes. There!
His hand suddenly darted out and caught the small figure, and Sean grinned triumphantly at the little sprite caught in his hands. “Gotcha, you pesky little smidge!” he crowed, and the spring spite huffed and chattered resentfully.

“Is that?” breathed the boy and Riene nodded.
He took the compass and it began to spin and looked to the box that was tied to Riene’s belt.
