It's been a while now since they first appeared. The strange markings on my body- the best way I can describe them is...tribal-like. Black, covering both my back and my shoulders. A bit odd, seeing as I'm not really one for tattoos at all. I'll be the first to admit that it scared me. Honestly, I was right to be frightened; even if I didn't yet know their meaning.
If I had at the time, I would have been downright terrified.
My name is Malachai. Malachai James Ruadhán. I'm 18 now, and it's been two years since they appeared. The marks, I mean.
I suppose now would probably be a good time to introduce myself some. I'm male, if that wasn't obvious from my name. The youngest of three brothers, and the shortest too at a mere 5'3”. My hair is auburn, probably best described as 'very messy' and frames my face. It's not long but it's not super short, either. Oh, and my eyes are green and...I'm a bit on the feminine side. Build wise, at least. Whatever you're p

"I've got a few questions for you. I'd like to be reasonable with you and I don't want to force knowledge out of you but I will do whatever I have to."
She clasped her hands in her lap, gentle blue eyes staring peerlessly into the prisoner.
"First of all, I'd like to know exactly who sent you. I want to know why you're trying to impede this revolution."
"Is that what you call it?" Even in such a compromising position, the Scandinavian managed to sneer. He seemed to think it was funny that they seemed themselves a revolution.
The man seemed both intimidating and unimpressive at the same time. He wasn't particularly tall or muscled.

Guardian of the Fallen KingdomThe traveller slowed his stride and lingered an arm’s-length outside the gargantuan shadow. His legs threatened to collapse and his lungs were heavy like leather. He listened to every one of his muscles scream in synchronicity and the cuts and scratches that laced his skin wept in the dry hot air. He pushed these matters to the back of his mind. He had to. He raised his hands and undid the clasp at the base of his skull. The scarred iron faceplate fell and the sand embraced it. He didn’t bother picking it up. He doubted he could.
The traveller peered through his fingers at the sprawling silhouette over the dunes to its source. Standing in the vast emptiness was an enormous slab of stone, twice the height of any tower he had ever seen. It had remained upright for centuries, as though the gods had dropped it from the heavens and hadn’t bothered retrieving it. Beyond it, in the distance, he noted the ruins of a kingd

#44: At Peace
I remember when my people were at peace.
Back before fear of magic grew into hatred and distrust, we were free to roam just as humans did. The barrier magic eventually became had not yet blossomed. Instead, we used our innate talents for the betterment of all we knew. Forests flourished, towns prospered, and both elves and humans were happy, allied as they were meant to be.
But, just as every bloom must wither, so must good times give way unto bad.
Darkness began creeping from crevices long forgotten, infecting the minds of those with power and urging them to use it for selfish, painful reasons. Fear began to spread like a plague, and soon, innocent elves were slain, pursued – or if they were lucky – managed to escape in the quiet of night before the hatred reached them. Our kind fled to places long abandoned by mankind – places inhabited by great creatures we had all but erased from our minds. Bu

NOW....it was no secret that Helena liked shopping.
Of course, she wasn't anywhere near the Eccentri-City at this point. Helena simply wandered the aisles of a normal clothing store she used to visit frequently, colloquially known as "Double Delight's". While she doesn't attend the high school around these parts anymore, she still frequents this particular area due to the very generous selection of dresses, shoes, coats, makeup......All which happen to be designed to fit very generously-endowed women, rather than scrawny little noodle-people like every OTHER "cool" clothing store offers their services to. Like finding an oasis in a desert.
The swan settled for something that shows off her figure. A purple, short, strapless dress with a blue sash in the middle, an ornate hair-clip that allows her to easily pin back her long, silky head feathers, and a brand new kit for eye shadow, eyeliner and blush. We walked in the marketplace side by side, not saying anything to each other. Mustang had his hands in his kimono sleeves, looking so regal and beautiful that I felt like an ugly chicken beside him. Everyone was waving to us and a couple of people even talked to Mustang as if he hadn’t turned into a raging lunatic. He was very polite and I felt like I was really seeing him for the first time.
We ended up going to a small lake that had beautiful cherry blossom trees in bloom around it and a pathway to walk on. We still walked in silence.

“Yes, it is.”

It felt like we didn't sleep long on the mountain, but the sun had risen when I opened my eyes to a world of white. The snowfall had worsened overnight, and was filling the air like a thick fog, limiting vision to well less than a twenty yards. Once our shelter had been disassembled, Handar suggested tying ourselves together, lest one fall due to some hazard hidden under the snow that was accumulating on our path. Being the lightest I was put in the front of the chain, and to my relief much was taken from my pack, in case the others should need to catch me. Even so, my legs screamed in pain as we began our slow march.
I was more aware of our climb that day, counting out the hundred and fifty stairs between landings. When we had ascended the third flight the stairs were replaced with a l

God created a line, and it was endless, forwards and backwards. 2 God cut this line, and turned one half into time. and the other into Tehom, also known as the Infinite Void, the Dark Water, or the Essence of Chaos. 3 God came down to the cutting point, this is the beginning of time, He formed the Tehom into land and sea and sky and canopy. For over a month, his entire world consisted of blue skies, screaming seabirds and the briny taste of the ocean spray that clung to the insides of his mouth. But soon, he’d have a reprieve. The ship he had traveled on had finally made dock in a tiny port-side town. It needed supplies for the rest of the journey so the stopover here would be brief. Just long enough to unload some minor cargo, take on fresh water and food, then take the next available tide back out in the morning. But it would be long enough to do a little exploring in town, maybe even get a drink of something other than the foul swill the sailors guzzled. He was not going to pass this by.
He stood on the edge of the ship’s deck, waiting anxiously for the gangplank to drop. Solid ground was calling him. As he waited with long-sword and short-sword scabbard on his hip, knife tucked behind in the small of his back, he shifted his duffel bag across his shoulder, in an attempt to hav

It was midday by the time Greyden and Ymaine passed through the gates of Janwall.
The majority of the trip thus far had been spent in silence.
The longer the pair travelled together the longer Ymaine saw that there was truly no trace of the old captain he had known. That man had been ready for anything, always quick with a laugh, always kind, always witty.
Ymaine had not seen him smile once so far since their re-acquaintance - not truly - not like he used to. Gone was the man who could rally a force, who could inspire new recruits with the fewest of words, who could encourage people with vast differences to unite.
He had at least thrown Ymaine a few dishevelled smiles at they travelled, but they were so half-hearted that Ymaine wished that he wouldn’t. He felt himself fighting the urge to slap the man, to tell him to snap out of it. It was no use though. Greyden was clearly grieving.
