FFM Day 2: The AutomatonThe ground quaked under Jof's feet as the jarring sound of twisting gears echoed through the courtyard. The boy's head spun around fast enough to see a great brass foot smash down from behind the barn, followed by the thing it was attached to. The metallic behemoth stood twenty feet high and spanned ten feet across. Its arms, which ended with claws for hands, were stubby when compared with its legs, but one would be able to tell that they could extend to twice their original length. Once it had cleared the barn, the brass giant turned its dome of a head towards Jof, who stood frozen in terror when he saw a menacing red glow flicker in its eyes. Stoark was never able to tell Jof about how automatons like this one worked, but something in the boy's mind told him that it saw him and recognized him as an intruder.FFM Day 2: The Automaton17 hours ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This

No one starts their life as a warrior. No one begins their road on the most dangerous world in existence. This road was no different: An unseasoned teen, Brahma Fizement, drummed his fingers along the spine of the book in his lap, adjusting his position as the wagon he was in hit a stray stone in the road. He gave a short look to his father driving the wagon, were it not apparent what there relation was, anyone who saw them would immediately see that the father was just an older version of his son. Though that similarity was trumped by an outstanding difference… Brahma’s eyes flicked to the book in his lap, while his father was an honest merchant, his son had taken to training as a priest- though he had yet to take up any real responsibilities. He was still a trusted member of the church and dutiful in his studies, so when one of his father’s business trips had taken them close to a holy battleground where a demon lord was said to have been van
HOG/Mimpossible Black Sheep Chapter 18Mim was listening to Jack recall the last time he was in London, he had been chasing down a rogue blizzard that Zvezda had let get way out of hand, when Calvin trudged in and leaned against a wall, looking at her. She told herself not to do it,to focus on Jack’s story, laugh with Tooth and nudge North when he made weird comments, but years of knowing that something was on Calvin’s mind had made her realize that on some rare occasions it was something actually important. So she internally groaned and stood. Kissing Jack on the cheek with a quick “be right back” she made her way over to Calvin. If Jack was worried about her abrupt exit, he didn’t show it.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” she said, guarded knowing that anything could happen here, with him at least.
“Little-Miss-Mini-Boyfriend said we need to bury the hatchet.” Calvin was working to keep the ann
Daily Deity #79 IoSo, I talked about Io when I was describing Argus, but I didn't really give a complete story. So here it is.Daily Deity #79 Io7 hours ago in Short Stories More Like This
I'll start with Io. She wasn't really anyone that important, just the daughter of a river god. Which really isn't that impressive of a thing. There really are only three fathers that appear in Greek myths: Zeus, river gods, and a king that is probably related to Zeus.
Anyway, Io happens to catch the eye of Zeus. So, that probably means that Zeus looked down from Olympus, saw her first, and said "I have got to have some of that." And thus begins another affair of Zeus.
Now by this time Zeus has gotten pretty wise to the fact that Hera is almost positively watching him. The king of the gods solution to this is to change the form of Io. This honestly is a rather inspired idea. Zeus had already changed his form hundreds of times, and he had only been able to avoid the gaze of Hera for a short time. At least in this way, he has a better excuse and won't have to remain trapped in the

Winter had arrived once more and with it came the snow. It blanketed the lands with beautiful, sparkling white- so bright that it practically burned your eyes, reflecting the sun. Rut was still raging in Glenmore, stags clashing and does giggling as they were fought for. However, it wasn’t quite as manic as the fall. Many does had already been claimed, so the competition wasn’t quite as fierce, in some aspects… But, in some aspects it was. Stags were getting desperate for mates. Lunemyr, however, had no interest in the ongoings of rut. He’d never been one to put his heart into rut, even if he had sired two fawns in the past one. However, he not fought for the two does he’d bred to. It really had been planned, in all honesty… It just kind of..happened.
He’d broken up many fights that got too bloody already today. Despair lingered in their air, mingling in with bellows of victory as stags pranced off with their feminine prizes in t

The sun disappeared below the horizon
and one by one the stars twinkled in the sky.
The moons shone on the Sea of Urðr
reflecting off its calm waters.
They spread their blanket rolls on the soft sand
and in comfort lay to sleep for the night.
When the sun rose, Seiðr opened his eyes.
The others still slept.
He arose without disturbing anyone,
stretched his arms and went for a walk down to the sea.
He took off his shoes and stood at the edge of the water,
letting the waves roll in over his legs,
swishing around him as the tide receded.
He loved the sea. He looked to his right.
The sandy beach spread out for miles, dotted only with a few palm trees.
Looking to the left he saw a pile of rocks covered with seaw

The sky above Glenmore was an ominous grey, with clouds too thick to see any sky through them. Heavy sleet was pounding down on the forest, and the sound of it hitting millions upon millions of leaves drowned out any other noise. The perfect, crisp snow that had been covering the undergrowth earlier in the day had been washed away, replaced with a muddy, grey slush.
The trainees had noticed the change in behaviour as soon as Aytan had returned from speaking with Acka; their ears had flicked forwards with concern, and they suddenly did everything he asked without a word of complaint, afraid of the consequences if they played about. Not that Aytan had noticed: somewhere between watching Acka fly away and arriving back at the training glade he’d gone numb, and barely remembered anything that he’d taught or said afterwards. He’d shouted though, he remembered that,

Then they would make their way down to the kitchen with their little push trays, where they would each receive one part of the king’s breakfast and wheel it down to his room through the passage ways built for them. Over the course of the day they would cater to his needs as and when due. For example, when he needed them to fetch things or when he needed them to clean up little spills every now and then. Two weeks into Baritorin’s stay and everything had been swell.
One thing was surprising though. The children realised that despite their massive responsibility to the king, they had a lot more free time than they normally would have had with their regular duty schedule. This was because the king didn’t have as many needs as they assumed he would have. He wasn’t at all like their queen who liked to be waited
