A long, long time ago...
The young son of the late King Midas, only about the age of 17 years, put on his usual clothing in his room. His garb was a robe of black cloth, topped with a hood, lined with golden stitches on the sides.
Midas opened a drawer and sighed, picking up a glimmering glove of gold. He slipped it on his hand, one last time before walking out his door.
Rain was pouring down on the small village of Mythriad, and the moon shone bright down on the stone walkway.Midas’s gloved hand brushed against a tree as he was walking. The small area he touched began to slowly turn into gold, the blotch expanding outward until it stopped at about four inches in diameter. This was normal for Midas, so he kept walking. It was finally time to get rid of this curse once and for all.
Outside the village was a lightly wooded area, where only six guards -armed with long swords- stood. A pit had been dug, about 5 feet deep, and its bottom encased with a strange me

The first thing that came back to the girl was a pain in her head. It throbbed so horribly that she wondered if she had been hit by a metal pipe or something harder. Normally the cause of her headaches was the overuse of her plant based powers. Yet the teenager couldn't remember using said powers to such an extremity. Surely the thing with giant robots had just been some weird dream; it was too weird not to be a dream.
The second thing that came to her was the thing she was laying on. It was firm but much softer than what the girl was used to sleeping on. Despite the fact the girl was anything but relaxed. Last she remembered the teenager was in a forest; sleeping in her rabbit form until that boy got her attention. Not even a bed of moss of a pile of leaves was this comfortable. Was it possible that the whole escape was just a

"This better be good." Katelyn sighed, "Right now I'm missing a Thanksgiving Party with my family."
"I love to break it to you but Mario, Sonic, and their friends are not your family. They're always having problems with each other and are not even real."
"You...take....that....back." Katelyn said getting steamed.
"Oh I'm sorry Catlyn." Goldman said.
'That guy is so insulting.' R.K thought.
"Remember when I said that I'm bringing a special guest to help you test? Well here are your first guests."
Goldman snapped his fingers and suddenly out of nowhere Empress and Allison appeared together.
"Hey what the?" Allison cried, "I was just getting ready for Black Friday and now I get transported to this world?"
Then Allison looked at her 39us self and screamed.
"AHHH!!! A zombie?!?! GET IT AWAY FROM ME!!"
"I can't." Empress said.
"Because I'm you."
That made Allison scream again.
"So in today's test we're cele
Thousand Year Sword 07: Curse of Yam-Dora She nearly died, a revelation for Rhulan whose had not felt the close sting of potential death for some time, a lot longer if she let herself dwell on the whole dragon for thousands of years thing; thankfully most of that time was as something with little to no memory retention, and even beyond that it was mostly a blur as apparently dragons are poor judges of time. Any who, the reality was that these “Eldrith Abominations” these horrors from between time and space that invade material worlds for the express purpose of causing madness and destruction apparently, are a lot stronger than Rhulan gave them credit for. She would not make that mistake again, the mistake of taking one on, power to power in direct conflict without a plan other than *attack*.Thousand Year Sword 07: Curse of Yam-Dora5 minutes ago in Short Stories More Like This

It was all going so well. We started off as best friends and then became mates later, thought the ginger tabby cat as he lay in the sunlight next to his aunt's tree. The ginger cat glanced around then got to his paws mewing aloud, "What did I do wrong? Why would she decieve me like that?" He began to walk forward, remembering the past events.
Few Months Earlier
Sand, the ginger tabby, was hunting with his mate, a beautiful black-and-white tuxedo cat named Rain. Sand and Rain were best friends until they decided to become mates. They had been together for two months, almost going on their third.
Sand scented a vole, big enough for the two of them to share. He crouched down and began to stalk it. The ginger tabby crawled towards the prey and just as he was about to leap, Rain leaped at it and killed it. She placed her white paw on the prey and purred. "Ha!

Ashes to AshesThe rain was a relentless silver curtain, cutting trenches through the earth and clotting the gutters with fallen leaves. The trees had no hope of holding it at bay, branches tossing and shedding the last of their garments before the strength of its onslaught. Grass brown and matted, barely moored in mud, and lines of motley stones standing like the fingers of buried giants. That mist obscured them beyond the third row, reducing the world to a sliver of its typical size.Ashes to Ashes9 minutes ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
It was fury broken across the city's least cheerful corners, and then, far too suddenly, it wasn't. The wind tapered like a spent sigh, and the downpour reduced itself to a dancing, irregular rhythm across the treetops. Its remnants traversed the vertical faces of those stones like teardrops, and wherever those same traces of water found their way to his skin, they hissed in immediate evaporation.
Too warm beneath the weight of the coat that concealed him, standing inch-deep in mud beneath one of those battered trees.
Robin Williams came into my dream, told me this. You see, I was not trying to give you an extra chip, I was trying to take away. For me, I only need all of these chips in this bag to keep me full. The Fallen - S:1: PilotLoneliness, the strongest emotion a human can feel. A feeling he knows quite well...for he has been human longer than most. “Walking the streets at night is just as calming as a good smoke” he mumbles to the air as if someone was listening. Almost as in response to his statement it starts to rain. He welcomes the cold for it has been better comfort than the Boston air. Up ahead after walking for a while longer a small boy stands coughing under a street light. “Perhaps the light gives him comfort.” As he approaches the boy, he can see how the boy looks under fed and that he could be catching a cold, kind of reminding him of the strays he sees around town. He steps into the light and puts his hand on the boys shoulder, and as his hand makes contact with the boy, he stops coughing. He smiles, “You should find someplace warm for the night.” The boy looks at his hands confused...then looks back up at him and smiles the last thing he says before he runs ofThe Fallen - S:1: Pilot13 minutes ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This

Velrayne pulled her fur-trimmed wool cloak over her and readied herself for sleep. She was tired, and the hot water that had seared her pores clean had also added to her sleepiness. Tevwyn had elected to spend the night in the hot spring, a fish buried in the soft mud at the bottom of the pools. Velrayne sighed and curled up underneath soft fur, reluctantly enchanted by her sister when she’d caught Velrayne sneaking out of their house.
“Don’t go,” she had begged, tears in her big blue eyes. “Don’t leave us,” she pleaded.
“I’m going, Ari. Leave me be.” Velrayne said coldly, donning her dark woolen cloak. Aridia had grabbed at it, pulling it away before Velrayne could fasten the clasp.
“You’ve only just come back to us, and now you intend to leave again? Why?”
“Because this has never been my home. I need to find my own way in life, my own path, and one that is

Dearest Cathleen, you have certainly found an interesting soul mate. How he passed through the portal to our world is a mystery. Of course, having the bonded soul mate mark on his hand and the intense magical aura could provide us with the how. The very first thing he did upon arrival was a demand to speak to me. He practically oozed danger. Sister, I do not envy you.
I read your journal from beginning, to the abrupt ending stating your intention to return here without Owen Snow-Clover. I cannot begin to imagine how horrifying and stressful your situation has been. You may have changed appearance, but your heart is still the same- caring to the point of insanity. If I had known why you wanted to go to his world, I would probably have tried to stop you. If I were you, I would have fought back instead of enduring such horrors. You are made of sterner stuff than I gave you credit for.
After talking to Owen and the council, it has been decided that you can never come back.
TIME AWASH WITH BLOOD-- Chapter FiveTherazine banged a wet fist on the door. She was hunched over, clutching her roiling stomach. A mix of hail and rain fell in sheets. Her hair clung to her skin and stuck in her eyes, in her mouth. Six hours ago she’d exited the off-world station, and already she was hating being back on Celedin. Stepping through the aperture between Lormian and this wretched place had stricken her like a fever, as she’d anticipated. She dry heaved, fell to her knees on the stoop, and then banged the door again.TIME AWASH WITH BLOOD-- Chapter Five20 minutes ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
“Vexxer,” she shouted over the pounding rain. Every inch of her body was trembling and cold. A nauseous, burning feeling swam through her nerves, up her spine, and into her brain. She wanted to tear her flesh from its bones and escape this torment. Death would be significantly preferable to this. Oh, to find comfort in oblivion…
“Vexxer Roz,” she screamed.
The door swung open, and a shirtless man stepped out into the rain and put a gun to her head. With

Blazing, burning, crackling, roaring, screaming-hot fire all around her, closing in as her mouth dried up and her tongue stuck to the roof of her mouth, and her eyes burned something awful.
She was pulled from him, her dragon-brother, their consciousness severed and cut, but not so cleanly. Pulled by the teeth and wrenched from the womb, naked and bleeding, her skin torn from her musculature, a whirlwind howling the end of the world and all the universe, and then wretchedly silent.

Staten didn't wear a cape.
There was no need to.
After all, he had wings, and big ones at that.
They flared themselves out now, as he posed beneath the moon in front of a cowering criminal.
The man had been little more than a bank robber, a juvenile delinquent if anything. Staten would put a stop to his actions before he could get any worse.
"W-who are you?" the criminal whimpered. Staten had been a terrifying force of nature, in his eyes. With wings that could propel him through the air like a jet liner, the strength of a hundred men, skin like stone, and the most fearsome glare this side of the Pyrenees, Staten was the cream of the crop when it came to gargoyles. It was a good thing he fought for the side of good rather than evil.
"I am Staten the Gargoyle!" the heroic gargoyle thundered. "Lord of the Night and Punisher of the Wicked! Repent for your crimes, evildoer!"
The thief broke into terrified sobbing and curl

Sounds of ship cannons sounding woke up a five year old Valerie. The young auburn hair girl rubbed her hazel eyes as she climbed up the stairs that lead to the deck. Her older brother, Will smiled as he saw her
“Up Early” Will said/ asked
“Can’t sleep” I replied Will chuckled, but braced for impact as the ship we were on became under attack
“William! Get your sister to safety, and whatever you do, keep yourselves safe” I heard our father say
“No, papa!” I cried as Will grabbed my left wrist as we ran across a now burning deck towards the life boats somehow in the thick of attack Will, and I got separated from each other. I was roughly pushed into a half filled life boat.
A Week Later
I felt something warm on my skin slowly I opened my Hazel eyes, and looked around
“Ah, I see you’re finally up” I blinked, looking up I saw a young black hair, blue eye b
Why We Do Not Drink and CastThe house was originally some sort of warehouse south-southeast of Austin, outside the original flower child impact crater, but it was still handy to the colleges. Marigold and Sānti were passing around the cakes and ale after the annual Lammas not-a-foot-race (with a high that afternoon of 32.5 °C, most of them just moseyed through the park) and a lovely barbecue. The couple were not the most traditional of hippies, nor were they considered traditional teaching mages. Their circle of journeyman mages had settled in to watch the sunset from the roof deck on top of the garage.
There were only two of the Untouched living in the house this summer, and both of them had gone off to visit family during the university break. So with the wards up, the talk had been pretty open by the time they were on their third or fourth round o

Half midnight. Are they online?
Probably not. Still, worth waiting. I drum my fingers irritably on the desk top. God, they're never online these days. I tap the bottle of cheap beer with my pen.
The little green circle flickers on. Typing!
That's odd. Not the message, of course. But I've always made the first move, first lines of the conversation. I pull up my sleeves, sip the bottle.
[Hi! How';re you?]
Bugger, typo. Still, given the cold it's excusable.

My heart jolts, as it always bloody does whenever that golden phrase is trotted out. It never means anything. Last time it was about a type of yoghurt. It's like one of your lottery numbers coming up the day you didn't buy a ticket.
The little animation plays, letting me know that they're typing for a while. I finish the bottle, and sli
Best Friend For Hire Reprise, Entry 37 I made James and Jarod start off with a meditation exercise, though neither of them were quite flexible enough for my preferred position. James was quick to show Jarod an alternate position, which he explained had been learned while studying Tai Chi. James was such a cutie, not that Jarod was bad either. There was just something about James. He always stood out to me, playing with the rhythm of my heart. I took a breath and tried to empty my mind again, despite wanting to take another peek at James. I wasn’t certain how much time had passed since we started, but Jarod obviously wasn’t getting meditation down very quickly. Nonetheless, he eventually made some progress, at least appearing to be relaxed. “There is energy all around you, tiny points of light like glitter floating through the air and reflecting the sun.” I told them as I observed the lights. My analogy was perfectly fine, but Jarod still faiBest Friend For Hire Reprise, Entry 3741 minutes ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
