Written in but one sitting, freely formed.
Assume not a moment of hesitation stayed hand or pen; pencil or keystroke.
Assume that years if not a lifetime of study crafted this work. No artificial legal person or collection of persons.
Assume this was once scribed in French & translated to English. Even then, a mere derivative of an even greater-in-prestige literary figure.
Supposons pas un mot a été laissé dans une langue autre que l'anglais.
Assume no word is indeed French.
Not a single edit or error ever made.
Assume the author was seeking enlightenment;
Rather than illuminating.
Assume that meter & measure; rhythm & rhyme were accounted for.
Assume that immense effort was poured into a brief instant of literary revelation. No pondering over the words or even the inkling of concept.
Assume the writer was not the speaker & the speaker indeed trustworthy in every word written before and ever after
Assume that only answers are given without question
FairytalesShe was sixteen years oldFairytales5 hours ago in Free Verse More Like This
When her anguish grew, rooted.
She was locked in her room
Like a princess in a fairytale,
Staring each day at the people
Who smiled, and laughed, and lived
Their lives, free of their constraints
But she was not a princess,
And her story was no fairytale.
