With every passing moment we get closer to death, closer to the moment of oblivion.
But what then?
Nothing left of us but a few memories, good and bad, but even those will fade away with time.
Everything we do now will have little impact on the world, nobody will know that we ever existed.
Yet I’m happy.
With all this pointless time spent doing nothing, I understand why people turn to religion,
to feel like they have a meaning, a purpose.
Believing that we’ll be rewarded for all our actions.
Following fantasies looking for a meaning that doesn’t exist.
Yet I’m happy
Wasting time wondering if tomorrow will be better.
Putting on fake smiles.
For something just out of reach.
Yet I’m Happy
Days pass by without us really acknowledging them.
Time flies and we never notice until we don’t have much left.
Friends come and go, leaving you behind.
Letting you wonder if you really mattered to them at all.
And yet I’m happy.
