An Open Letter to the White KnightPrincesses aren’t perfect. An Open Letter to the White Knight19 hours ago in Traditional Fixed Forms
They’re just like any girl
For a princess can break your heart
And tear apart your world
So think again, my dear brave knight
Before you risk your life and limb
For with her words
The pretty girl
Can destroy you from within
Sometimes you fight a dragon
Or a wizard, dark and wise
Sometimes you fight the princess
A witch in enchanting disguise
She may have loved you, my poor knight
But now you’ll never know
She hurt you badly
And now sits sadly
She’s reaping what she’d sown.
Whether it’s your fault or mine
It hardly matters now
My words can never bring you back
Though I would try if I knew how
I said I’m sorry, my white knight
I feel it more and more
But damage made
By word or blade
Can be hard to ignore
And if I might have lost my chance
I’ll take that fact in stride
For even the most horrid witch
Can be a princess if she tries
I wish you well, my dear white knight
Though my heart longs to see you again
Poem - Angel WingsAngel WingsPoem - Angel Wings18 hours ago in Traditional Fixed Forms
Could I fly with angel wings
aided by this beauty seen?
From my slumber I will spring
when this loveliness is my dream.
My breath is held prisoner
by the guardian of heaven's gate.
I release a gasp when I can
as I struggle in splendor’s grasp.
My tongue is tied in knots
as it seeks to full express.
Mere words cannot describe
a beatific view of paradise.
I'm lifted to the tallest heights
by vision of this celestial sight.
Moved beyond my sunken depths,
I am now free to sally forth.
Grant this mortal lover's boon,
undeserving of your grace,
that we may dance as partners do
in celebration of beatitude.
This taste is sweetest fruit,
sate an appetite long famished.
Penchants blessed by the flesh,
savored when not repressed.
The sight, the touch, so much more,
could I be blessed at this time?
Paradise gained in your these arms,
seraph please shine your light.
Thus I fly with angel wings,
beauty is as beauty gained,
not mine to own, just to share,
the embrace of dancer's lov

ValentineEvery time I think of you, a statue of Mary in the yard of some cathedral weeps bloodValentine16 hours ago in Traditional Fixed Forms
Every time we make eye contact, one of the lightbulbs in a chandelier that hangs over a hearty banquet table in some grand mansion flickers and burns out
Every time I see you happy with someone who isn't me, another windowpane in the future home I've built for us in my mind shatters
But most of all...
Every time we accidentally brush hands against each other's, the veins and muscles in my hands immediately move to pick up a pen and write you something that can never articulate how beautiful and precious you are to me
...such as this.
The Hairy EggFive grand may seem an arm and leg,The Hairy Egg22 hours ago in Traditional Fixed Forms
A lot to pay for just an egg,
An egg with hair, or so they say,
Was offered to me if I pay.
“I can't pay that!” I said with haste,
“Although this egg looks good to taste!”
“Too bad, that's what the egg does cost,
If you don't pay it's you that's lost!”
The egg could speak! And then it stressed;
“You know this egg is just the best!”
I thought of yolk and runny whites,
I thought of all those egg delights,
I thought “Oh god what could this be?
This egg with hair has scrambled me!
I'm just a poor boy, rich with strife,
I live to love but hate my life,
Despair does vex my skin to itch,
Lonely chains now call me 'bitch',
I ask you please, I ask you nice,
O little egg please drop the price.”
“You know the cost!” Said Egg once more,
I tried to fight but knew the score;
“It seems a lot, but what a treat,
My God I'd really love to eat.....
So now I said; “I'll
Sister, may I kiss you?The ordinance was silentSister, may I kiss you?1 day ago in Traditional Fixed Forms
And the silence seemed to ring
Shadow those who sing
Art beside a Priesthood throne
Are you statue? Are you light?
I heard that we were birds once
Who God had granted flight
Sister, may I kiss you?
Where your hair turns into the sun
In the hallowed halls of this temple
Where the blood of our people runs
Our mothers blacked their journals out
And taught us to do the same
But no one taught me how to love
A girl made up of rain
I think they spoke of witchcraft
And the call for a fire was strong
I left while they were still chopping down
The forests I'd loved for so long
I lost you long ago, my love
To a god who would murder my heart
And in the silence and in the rain
My soul sings as it falls apart
I don't know where I'm going now
And I don't know where I am
But this river runs through eternity
And no one's constructed a dam
