A movie played inside my mind.
Ive traveled the seas in half the time
Without ever leaving home.
Ive spread my wings but didnt fly
Ive touched heaven, but I didnt die
Had the chance to ask God why
Without ever receiving an answer.
Ive count the stars and made to ten
Lost track and had to start again.
People laughed, but thats how we make friends
Without ever knowing their name.
Ive loved completely and watched them leave
I tell the storysome dont believe
Let them go or did you flee?
Without seeing what tomorrow brings.
Ive cried like I would never smile
Walked in darkness for half a mile
Saw the sun in the distance for a small while
Without ever feeling its rays.
Ive walked the beachestasted the breeze
There was a time that Ive felt free.
Touched my soul and let life be
Without any regrets to hold.
Ive laughed until I could not breathe
Gasped for air a

You compose your conversations.
Fitfully gesturing with whatever you hold,
ending arguments with a flourish.
Make a point, now whirl, quickly.
Make it impossible to counter with your unpunctuation.
You duck and weave, spin, sidestep, pirouette:
One, two, one, two, faster, harder, stronger.
You leave me confused and two steps back,
just far enough behind to appear lost and unsure.
And if I catch up, if I make a point,
you spin again, a trail of words falling like pixie dust
as you make your escape.
And as you storm out, you slam the period behind you,
Ending your sentence with a door.
And I must follow you, my thuds down the stairs preceding my statement,
trying to catch up before the page break.
Now I capitalize a W, and follow with an a, i, t.
And you pause, spin, speak, gesture, spin, continue.
A waltz to counter my four-four.
You don't dance your words-
you speak a dance.
You speak a dance Baryshnikov couldn't follow.
You rapidly reverse the rhythm,
changing tempo in a blur of sound

Love is trusting
Love is thrusting.
if you do-
is a vex;
for the worse.
Pulling the pieces
Through nephews and nieces.
Like the word unheard.
and with luck -
But those who care
Those who live
But what is life
A goddamn vex.
If I Were A LineIf I were a lineIf I Were A Line7 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
I think Id be curled,
billowed and swirled,
and slowly unfurled.
Id sweep over a page,
if I were a line,
with the wind in my hair,
and my heart laid bare.
Thats what Id be,
if I were a line.
If I were a spot
Id be round and fat
(now how about that?)
like an old, well-fed cat.
Id have drizzled and dropped,
if I were a spot,
pittering and pattering
with a slight hint of smattering.
Thats what Id be,
if I were a spot.
If I were a colour
Id be a rich red,
like a painted deathbed
or a sword to the head.
Id lunge for macabre,
if I were a colour,
made oh-so dramatic,
my thoughts all sporadic.
Thats what Id be,
if I were a colour.
But I am a human,
so pale and flawed,
and easily bored,
(wishing I was adored).
I twist and bend
(these hinges, you see?);
my shape is no other
than the one I can be;
My colour, it changes
because I am a human:
a human thats me.

With subatomic subtlety settling on his brow,
he said 'Time's a broken arrow
that points from then to now.'
Once a grain, I entreated him
to stop this flow of sand,
'You're immersed in the irreversible
until, entropical, I land.'
In that glass all is hours,
the busted bucket and the spade,
and each collapsing castle
that our spilt ice cream made.
Since his hands are tide
we can all be shore,
when the sediment slides
there is no more.

the very dead of night, and cold,
the joy of life is measured by
a brace of wind and stinging snow
the bane of hand and eye.
Scudding clouds do not deter
the laughs, the shoves, the dares,
a dangerous game is playing here,
unknown by those who run and slide
a fate awaits the years.
Dot Com Derrek struck it rich,
Stilwell died of cancer,
Alex never found his niche,
William died a soldiers death,
Jack became a dancer.
Sled on dear boys! and show no lack
of boldness off the mark!
One by one, straight down the track,
the hill is life and night is death,
there is no going back.
Butterflies...Our lives are filled with ButterfliesButterflies...5 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
In moments that we seize
They guide us with our heart and soul
Placing themselves in our memories
In days so dark we find them there
We feel them midst our pain
Guiding us to all tranquility
Till we are whole again
We see them in each golden day
They flutter strong and true
Each one more glorious than the next
Their colours a vivid hue
Our laughter guides each Butterfly
To peace and harmony
To place them amongst the flowers
To dance in reverie
Such gentle creatures as they fly
Their silence creating calm
We watch them with surprise and mirth
A cool and soothing balm
Butterflies are our gifts from God
To show us all the light
To guide us in our daily quest
Turning what is wrong to right
So next time you see a Butterfly
Treat this creature with your love
Filling all your memories with their beauty
As they flutter up above

Weave me a dream
Make it the best
That I've ever seen
Fill it with joy
For you and for me
Fill it with hope
For the whole world to see
Paint it in colours
To bring us delight
To replace all the darkness
Except for the night
Bathe it in sunshine
As warm as its rays
Fill it with friendship
To last all our days
Give peace in our sorrow
and joy in our song
Weave this dream soon
Do not wait too long
We all need our dreams
To be and to see
To share all we have
From you and from me
Thank you Dream Weaver
For weaving this dream
It is the best dream
That I've ever dreamed..
an alternate final stanza:
Thank you dream Weaver
For helping me see
That life is as beautiful
As we allow it to be...
The Poet's DreamLast night I dreamt that life was sleeping,The Poet's Dream6 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
And a man held in his keeping
All the souls of all the dying,
Cold and crying, lost and lying,
Harvest of the reapers reaping
And Gods vacant sighing.
With troubled mind I paused his pacing,
Asked him, though my heart was racing,
Will I, sir, end here someday
With all these souls like pallid clay?
Tell me what it is Im facing
And whether I will end this way?
The man just laughed and turned aside,
But still the truth he could not hide;
Said, When you wake upon the morrow,
One day hence will fall your sorrow,
For nothing pushes Death aside
That you can beg or borrow.
I cried out then and cursed my fate,
Can I not my own Death abate?
A poet I, and think while living
What fair gifts I have been giving
To this world of fear and hate
With poems that breed forgiving.
If that is so, my child, he said,
Death may not be your lot when dead,
For though you soon must pass away

Remembering moments of days gone by
My Lovers found and passion spent
Of no regrets and friendships meant
Our souls entwined for evermore
The rhyme and reason, my heart to store
I see myself so fancy-free
Each day was filled with what was me
A woman in a world of hope
Of seeds to sow and ways to cope
With promise and the need to know
Adventures fresh with eyes aglow
I see, I saw, my eyes I close
my precious moments, in time I froze
I hear, I heard, now silence reigns
Of sounds and words, the fear that feigns
the truest part of who I am
Of caring more, to give a damn
I have spiralled headlong within the mist
No consequence in love's first kiss
To feel complete and find my place
Amongst the twisted in this space
Oh please I pray, please grant me more
Of whats behind life's hidden door
Each day my body succumbs to age
As true as writings on this page
My heart and soul remain the same

and heard of your glory
You saved our world from the fallen angels
I saw Messiah standing,
Standing before me with no words
Nothing but "Hope".
When we lost dread, a Demon was laughing
But now you are showing us wonder
Giving your love
With awe, down on my knees again
I've got to know you're the one,
The only one reveals the world
The King has come!
To lighten up our feet
The King has come!
To save us from the dark
Who could ever doubt? We have faith
Let me walk with you when I'm lost in the wild
I know you always lead me to another Eden
Let me bless your name, O Lord, O Lord!
Your words will never fade away
Since we believe you're the light on earth
Reveals the world

Come pray with me for eternal bliss
Of laughter in dreams, and love's first kiss
To hope for days of everlasting sun
Of a bright new world that has just begun
Back in time when all was clear
A world without ego, judgment or fear
Unlocked doors and pleasures of purest simplicity
Of love between Them and Us and You and Me
I laugh, a nervous laugh, a dream I know
Of hidden complexities too scared to show
I guess somewhere, somehow, it once was
Shed with tears of memories, all but lost
Resurrect me not when I am gone, to keep me with you still
Hold me now, to your heart, until you've had your fill
For tomorrow comes but way too fast
For souls bound together, in life's eternal clasp
We leave behind what we have made
Of flesh and true emotions, so tenderly laid
I feel within my very soul, so much for us to share
Play a bitter-sweet tune, that will surely strip us bare
They wish, You Hope, I Pray, but still it is not heard

and then the hatter said, to the tree
'life is the colour you want to see.
black or white or blue or red.'
and then he stood upon his head.
'The world makes more sense upside down,
so now, when I'm happy, I usually frown.'
'I wear many hats, none of them are mine.
I keep them to sell, so please get in line.
Buy them for cheap, and take this mask for free!
Use it to hide the faces you don't want anyone to see.
'tis a neverending tea party, this life, my friend!
time is frozen still, and this will not end.
not joy, nor sorrow, nor love, nor hate
the most you can hope for, is to get a clean plate.'
I watch the hatter (mad), and then I smile
not so much in years, yet quite clearly senile
I shed a tear for his sake, and then I look away
I do not need to hear what he has to say.
and the hatter said to the tree,
'they never really listen to me.
but if they stopped to look they'd find
i'm not completely out of my mind.'
the hatter (mad), he says to me
'we are both the same.'

When the shadows have their due
The clock heralds their transient reign
Till the sun comes into view.
The hands meeting for an instant
Like theyve always done
But always moving inexorably
Until its twelve o one.
But soon there will be a time
When the hands will move no more
When all is still and silent
Time not ticking as before.
When the hands will stop at midnight
For that last and fatal chime
When the shadows will reign forever
At that silent death of time.

Tiny body, little frame,
To my heart its now contained
All is love; youre so naïve
Out there is a world of pain
Random murder, acid rain
What a contrast you provide
To your master's bloody sky!
Go on to sleep once again
Unawares of human shame
Profit gained of blood verbose
Crueler worlds could you have chose?
In this world of human stain
Innocence itself, a strain.
To your virtue, one aspires
Killing off ones own desires
Purring thus, you carry on
To the brink of blood hewn dawn
What to wake? What will you find?
In the hands of human time.

Just saying what I feel
Hoping you can hear me
Praying that you heal
We all fall by the wayside
recover, though we must
Find our strength and courage
Learning when to trust
Though pain is meant to guide us
Tis, a hard road that we tred
Searching where we all belong
Walking tall and not with dread
Our love we give so freely
and yet we are so torn
From what is seen as happiness
Is shattered and filled with scorn
We look within for answers
Searching far and wide
Our hearts filled with our memories
No reason then to hide
Tears will cleanse our soul
and help us start again
To find a better future
and rid us of our pain
Lean then, on those who love you
and accept you for yourself
In those, you will find tomorrow
Filled with hope and wealth
Yesterday, you put within the past
Today , you're walking still
Tomorrow is filled with sunshine
So plan to get your fill..

If wishes were real?
To shed hope amongst the people,
and this world of ours to heal
Give dreams to all believers
and light in every day
Guide us, who have forgotten,
and show them all the way..
Forget about possessions,
As they can implant greed
Could be something just as simple,
As a tree, a plant or seed
To give hope, to nourish and to show
That with a tender love
A garden will surely grow..
It is the same with humans,
we really need to see
That beauty from within
is purest in majesty
The outside will age and fade
and forever be no more
Our heart it gathers love
and inside it will store..
The meaning of life
and how we need to live
To share and to teach,
to love and always give
The trappings of existence
can often bring us pain
Too much in the wanting
with nothing to be gained..
Will leave us feeling empty
and ultimately all alone
If we are left misguided
and never really shown
That what we seek
is in our heart
And all we need to do,

Midst the confusion of today
No purpose or zest left in my step
Leaving me shallow, and bereft
The promise in today has come and gone
Taking the tune from within my song
Dark Shadows cast upon the ground
Silently, yes, without a sound
"But" I say "This cannot be"
For You are You and I am Me
And with this life I have to make
For much is here that is at stake
I sigh and think "Where do I start?"
I place my hand upon my heart
Please open up and let me free
Let me see the joy, there is to see
I could not glance in front of me
What should be clear, was perplexity
I have to free my inner self
To find whats pure and full of wealth
Of what this life can help me strive
To help me breathe and be alive
Dont judge me for my insecurities
For all of us have these tendencies
Tis truely a gift to master those
Of which do cause our heart to close
So smile I will and dream again
Of Summer days and Winter's rain
The Phantom Of The OperaThe Phantom Of The Opera6 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
It was gold and satin that touched the girl's cheek,
and a hushed voice, whispering a lullaby from the darkness,
that pulled her every step, and heart beat.
Hypnotizing, lulling her in, the gloved hand,
connected to a body, of a figure, cloaked in black,
stepped back through the mirror secret door,
as did she.
Candles danced, as if the very voice of the figure,
the man, as far as the girl could tell, commanded them to.
The fires sparkling, and blending with the long-
forgotten tiles of the passage floor,
of the old opera house.
Quickly, a new movement stoked down the girl's dress,
with her laces, and ribbons of silk, dyed a lovely
pink, a pale hand did play. Slowly, it traced up her thigh,
and along her own hand, grasping it, pulling her farther,
her own soft gracefully practiced footsteps,
padding's of a ballet dancer.
The figure stopped abruptly, shadows scowling,
the girl pondered, and suddenly the figure traced his long,
pale fingers over the girl's neck, to her lips.

My mind has split
My heart is ripped
Torn apart, at the seams
Torn between, life and dreams
I am in need, of a friend
Someone to help, my heart to mend
All I want, is to be loved
More often though, I am shoved
I end up face down in the dirt
Put there by those who want me hurt
They hate me, for who I am
They see through, my simple sham
My life is a lie, I tell to myself
To hide the thoughts, on my minds shelf
In the end, I cant win
So Ill be myself, once again
From now on, I shall be true
I like boys and girls, now what to do
