Late Night PonderingsWhat does nighttime look like from the middle of a field?Late Night Ponderings1 day ago in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
It looks like a black soupy mess,
You feel like it will just drop on top of you and you'll drown.
The trees blend into the rooftops, and the grass blends into the sky.
The lights twinkle in all directions enticing you to come up and touch it.
It's a feeling.
A thought that, maybe, if I rise just a little more higher I'll be able to fly.
To touch space.
To flit from moonbeam to planet ring.
It is a peacefully calming feeling, and it makes me smile.

The mighty king of the savanna had arrived.
He strained to arch his back,
His battle call rang through the air.
The challenger shook out his untamed mane as
The proud beasts prepared to show their worth.
Their rippling muscles tensed with anticipation growing.
An unheard whistle was blown and in seconds
They both charged and strived for dominance.
The king roared in triumph once his opponent was down.
His lover, the owner of the king’s heart, strolled by
And he caressed her face with his own.
The little ones scampered by and he grabbed for them,
He hated to be away from loved-ones.
His cubs teethed on him, their attempts at fighting back.
They were just like him, the king thought:
Strong-willed fighters with fiery hearts and tempers;
Yes, just like him, he purred.
He was proud to raise a strong family:
A family of kings-to-be.
The family’s voices bellowed from their windpipes.
Birds were awoken from their peaceful slumbers in the trees.
