It’s getting away! Fueled by a fiery hunger, the rusty tabby took few precautions in her pursuit. Up the tree went the squirrel with Odessa close behind. It whirled its way through the branches, thinner and higher, thinking that certainly no cat would be foolish enough to follow. But the squirrel was wrong, and with a great leap the tabby’s claws reached out and it was done. Hooked by the tail, the squirrel lost its grip on the branch and down it went, cat still attached. Out of the tree. Down, down.
A terrible screech split the morning air. It was difficult to tell who it came from, but when all was said and done the squirrel lay dead and the cat injured. For a long while Odessa was still on the ground, stunned. Her mouth parted slightly, she stared vacantly at the forest as a trail of blood trickled from the open wound on her leg. But she’d caught the squirrel, at

Cryle - SO Not Normal ch.1That boy. He came in every afternoon and bought a lemon iced tea. He'd approach the counter, and I'd ask him if he'd found everything alright. He'd say yes, as was routine, and then he'd pay the one dollar and eight cents for the tea. Then he'd smile and walk out. Over time, we began to become familiar with each other. After the initial, 'Did you find everything alright?' (to which he always answered 'yes, I did' no matter what), we began to chat about little things as I rang him up.
"It looks like it's gonna rain today."
"Yeah, I hope I get home before it does."
After a while, we began to get a little more comfortable with each other, and we'd always greet each other as he walked in.
"Hey, you guys don't carry If he hollers anymore."

La alta torre negra lo miraba amenazante,
en medio del desierto se alzaba:
muros negros, obsidiana cortante,

The high black tower looked to him threatening,
in the middle of the desert it rose:
black walls, sharp obsidian,
massive ruins around it,
and, in its shape, madness was looming.
The hero was, little by little, advancing
in his confident search.
Gone were the mountains,
gone were the plains
and even further was the sea,
where large ships had been floating,
led by him.
His bravery unleashed,
and with fury commanded
to his emboldened armies.
Surges in attack arranged
but never to the battle came.
The wall of sound advanced
and terror he only saw.
The coastline destroyed,
thousands of ships
smashed against the cliffs.
The castles demolished
and their foundations burned.
His army behind him died,
only he stood.
The destruction was indelible,
the memory remained.
But his purpose was forgotten
the name was forgotten
of the hero who resigned.

"Daddy, are we there yet?" I ask my father.
"No, not yet." He responds, never taking his eyes away from the window.
"But I'm bored!" I scream, throwing myself on one of the luxurious seats. "I want my laptop!" I scream again in my shrill, childish voice. My father is rich, I am spoiled. The limo comes to a halt, forcing my little body forward.
"Now we're here" my father says, "be good."
The door opens, and my father steps out. I follow him and am greeted by a gun wielding tour guide. He wears a gray t-shirt with the logo "First Contact Inc." and a baseball cap made out of tin-foil that says the same. He looks d

Good Intentions Chapter 2Ant had passed out during Spider’s trip home. Spider wasn’t sure whether that was a good thing or not, and contemplated where to put the ant as he stepped into his house—which was the inside of a giant red-barked tree, furnished and with a warm fire burning at the hearth in the living room.Good Intentions Chapter 22 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Finally, he decided upon his own room. The couch wouldn’t do, it was much too uncomfortable for someone so wounded. Spider nodded to himself, pulling the off-white blanket back from the bed to set Ant down. Ant winced, his blood-red eyes fluttering open. He tried to clench his fist, but he could hardly muster up enough energy for even that. He wasn’t able to fight Spider off as he pulled the cover back up to his waist before leaving the room.
Ant looked around the room, antennae drooping down over his face. He gave a small scowl. The place seemed too comforting and bright. The furniture was all plain enough, in rich reds and browns and a bit weathered. It seemed that Sp

We at Monsanto have heard your list of grievances and though we have done our absolute best to ignore them, including but not limited to the Monsanto Protection Act we slipped through Congress (its a good thing none of those puppets actually read any of the bills they are voting on in the first place), it has gotten to the point where not only can we no longer ignore you, but we have a list of complaints of our own.
You people have done everything from public protests, criminal trespassing, criminal vandalism, harassing our employees and a myriad of other activities that we really wish you would stop doing. Even our stocks have been suffering as a result, and we don't think that is very nice either.
So in a last ditch effort with the hope of gaining some mutual and fair understanding of each other, there are some points which we would really appreciate it that you get firmly planted into your minds, absolutely no pun intended.
We truly do

The sound of Alyssa's footsteps on the ladder echoed throughout the hole, giving a hypnotic rhythm to her descent into the unknown. Alyssa had a few problems climbing down, mainly because of her skirt, but once she said the magical word that turned her skirt into trousers, it became much easier. She had been climbing down for quite a while, and was wondering when the ladder would end, when suddenly, she felt a stabbing pain in her shoulder, the one which had the Unblinking Eye glyph tattooed on it. AH! she shouted, clutching her shoulder with her hand, as if it could help to ease the pain. And it worked. As soon as she put her hand on her shoulder, the pain disappeared.
Hmm... that's odd. she said. The pain was obviously a side-effect of the Unblinking Eye, but it was the first time she had ever felt it, and she didn't know what it could mean. Was it a forewarning about future dangers? Or was someone trying to use some

ForgivenessThe girl ran onto the train franticly as the train doors slowly closed, in the background she could hear a drowned out voice; "Passengers please stand behind the yellow line as the doors are closing and the train is ready to depart". The girl breathed a sigh of relief, if she had missed this train she would have had to wait another thirty minutes for the next and she would have been late for the rally. She looked around her as she stood in front of the train door holding onto the railing. Today the train was mostly full; the girl lived near the fifth station on the line and the train was usually fairly empty at this time, except for the few rare cases like today. She saw a free seat as she inspected her surrounding's, the girl walked over to the seat and quietly sunk into the seat, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible seeing as she had just before run onto the train like a madman. However, he constantly caught her sitting in complete silence, sometimes with a worried look on her face. As such, he was still frustrated about her recent ex. She explained to him that he didn't need to worry, and that she had it under control. She'd take care of the guy. Devlin knew that hen his sister said 'I'll take care of this', that it could mean anything from just talking to getting kicked in the face. After brunch, Emi hung around with Zeke, Amanda trailing after him. Obviously, she had developed a crush on him so much for not liking black. She kept trying to talk to him. The key word is 'tried'. He didn't really hate or like her, but the questions Amanda pestered him with were slowly driving Zeke to hate Amanda. Many things that she asked about were: where he lived, his favorite music, his past, why did he move here, if he's single, and a whole bunch of other nonsense that Emi didn't bother remembering. She could tell Zeke was getting annoyed, because she was also getting annoyed, and she had some patience when it came to Amanda. Amanda soon sensed their annoyance, said bye and then left to pursue her other crushes being the teenager she was. Only thing is, she dragged Emi off with her. Zeke just didn't know what to think, his face was going, "?"
"?" was on Emi's face too. "Why you little---You just made me ditch Zeke, Amanda!" Amanda let go of her and looked at me, sligh
Living in AfricaA lot has been said and written about the changes that have taken place here in South Africa over the past decade or so. I may be white and I may be an Afrikaner but, first and foremost, I consider myself as an African. I was born in Africa. For the past 300 years, my ancestors have been born in Africa. I do not belong in the Netherlands. I do not identify with the French, nor do I speak their language. I am a white South African. Get over it. I'm not lily-livered and do not wish to run away and live in Australia or the UK. This is my country and I love this land. I am fascinated by all of South Africa's people, no matter what language they speak or whether they are Hindu, Muslim, Christian or practice traditional African spirituality.
