Commander (y/n) Shepard let out a heavy sigh as the headache inducing thumping of the obnoxiously loud music thundered all around, making her insides vibrate along to the fast paced beat. She had never liked clubs…..well, despised was the word that was better fit her feelings towards these kinds of places. So why was she spending her valuable time here in this bar when she should be out saving humanity from the Collectors? Well, the long and short of it was that her companions thought that she was working herself too hard and needed to let loose, even if it was just for one night at the near

"I'm proud of you kid," said Anderson.
"Just remember you were a human before you were a Spectre, you represent all of humanity with your actions," said Udina.
"I won't let you down," said Shepard confidently.
Anderson stepping down and giving Shepard the Normandy? It didn't feel right to her. Pushing papers wasn't his thing but he wanted to give her every chance to succeed in this mission. She knew how much this meant to him and she wasn't going to let

Shepard sighed heavily as every step she took felt harder to make. She trudged through the base; intent on saying her goodbyes to her beloved crew. She walked around in a daze, looking at the destruction of the base area alone, until her eyes fell upon a familiar face.
"Hey Commander," Vega solemnly said as Shepard approached him.
"What? No Lola?" she teased with the biggest smile she could muster.
"Huh?…Yeah, sorry," he replied as he looked down at the ground.
"Are you okay?"
"I don't know what I thought I'd feel coming back to Earth," Vega said, "I was ready to fight - ready to die if I had to. But seeing everything like this…"
Shepard swallowed down her own concerns and fears as she braced Vega's arm; knowing that his resolve needed to be strengthened in that moment.
"I know it's hard, but this is only temporary," she said as she locked eyes with him. "We will win this. So stay focused and don't let them shake your resolve."

Sera awoke to the sound of the incessant beeping of her omni-tool.
The beeping reverberated inside her head, pulsating out a rhythm of pain. Laying there in the middle of the bed for a moment, she willed it to stop, absently muting the offending noise. A light snuffling sound from the couch caught her attention but she didn't want to move to find its source. She pinched the bridge of her nose, closing her eyes, trying to breathe through the pain in her head. Only when the pain had sufficiently subsided did she dare to open her eyes and click on her omni-tool. A message from her mother blinked at her.
Rise and shine daughter! See you in an hour!
Sera groaned in protest as she remembered agreeing to breakfast with her mother and Anderson the night before. That was before her mother ambushed her. Suddenly, the memories from the night before sporadically started to fill her brain.
The thought bolted her upright

“Boom! Head shot!” (F/N)’s voice rang through the team’s headset. She and Garrus were currently assisting Shepard in stopping the latest threat to the galaxy. A large scale mercenary group had been planting for the kill of several Omega trade merchants, however the commander had taken on the job to end mercenaries before they did the same to anyone. To put it simpler Commander Goody To-Shoes was saving the day… again.
“Last one,” Shepard announced while firing his pistol. The mercenary on the retrieving end fell to the pavement, blood pouring out of his hest plates. Coming out from behind their bearers the small squad re-grouped. (F/N)’s armor had taken small damage, but nothing major leaving the group intact and ready to move on.
“I’ll go farther in while you to stand guard. Don’t let anyone in,” Shepard got nods of approve from both companions. “And while you
His Kiss of Choices"Snow?" Garrus asked, tilting his head as he processed the information. Shepard watched her companion carefully and her lips twitched at the sight of his curiosity. The turian's eyes narrowed, but the Commander had enough patience to wait out his apprehension. "What do you mean, snow?" His normally husky voice grew more vicious as he quickly became frustrated. His Kiss of Choices5 years ago in Short Stories
And he took the bait. Shepard's smile broadened and she felt her fingers twitch with the adrenaline, "I mean the weather- 'snow'. Is there any other kind of snow?" Snorting her own skepticism, she waved any possible answer away as if Garrus could consider one.
"I understand what the term snow refers to, but I'm more confused by your intentions with it," he responded with mild concern. Ducking his head further into his armor, Garrus unconsciously backed up a step, but Shepard had him in her sights. Uncomfortable, the turian's shifting glances focused on the stars passing out beyond the safety of the ship.

Silence .well, not perfect silence but a familiar and comforting one nonetheless. The hum of the ship and its crew going about their daily activities was something Shepard had come to find a certain peace in. The Alliance had given her a sense of belonging and the people she met and served with gave her a sense of family. Following in her parents footsteps gave her a sense of purpose. She never expected to come as far as she had. Still, it made her sad to know that her father would never know or see what his daughter had accomplished. Standing in the cockpit with Joker looking out the window, watching the stars streak by in the vast expanse of space, she was lost in thought
"Commander? ....Joker to Shepard .Hello?"
" ..what?" she absently answered still staring out the window.
"Oh nothing, you know, just trying to fly the ship here. Waiting for your orders while the Reapers hunt our ass and Cerberus gets away the usual."

I've recently become enamoured with the Mass Effect 'verse, thanks to a beautiful piece of Garrus/FemShep art here on DA: Mass Effect - After the Reaper by *ghostfire, and while I haven't actually played the games yet, I did do some research and fell in love with Garrus and Shepard's story and decided to try my hand at writing the 'ship.
Now, my vision for this is that it's going to be a series of short stories about Shepard and Garrus' relationship, so they won't always be in chronological order. I'll let you know in the ANs just where about it fits in the ME timeline and if the story in question is companionable with any of the others.

Shepard walks away from the three paths that were opened up for him and towards a window, "I refuse," Shepard said, "I believe that the army that I have constructed will defeat your Reapers."
"They cannot," the Catalysts said as he stood beside Shepard, "you are a fool for believing in your army."
"No you are the fool," Shepard said, "I helped unite the Quarians and the Geth. They had been fighting for three hundred years, but with my help I stopped the war and united them together."
"That peace will not last," the Catalyst said, "eventually a Quarian will kill a geth and the war will be restarted. If you destroy all synthetic life the peace will last."
"No, I won't destroy all synthetic life. It won't bring peace between the Quarians and the Geth it will just destroy the Geth and that is not peace. I believe the Quarians and Geth can live in harmony," Shepard said, "perhaps a Quarian like Xen may try to dissect a geth but if

This takes place a few weeks, possibly a month, after the destruction of Sovereign.
Exiting out of the CIC, Garrus Vakarian strolled down the stairwell toward the living quarters of the SSV Normandy. The celebration that had followed the defeat of Sovereign was going on all throughout the Citadelthroughout the parts that remained relatively intact, that is. He was all for revelry after the hell he and his commanding officer had gone through, but it had turned out to be livelier than he preferred. He noticed how empty the ship felt, especially with the looming silence in the air. His mind began to wander to the faces he had seen at the celebration. All the crew from this ship, the people he knew from C-Sec, high ranking officials he had investigated, ev

'Twas the night before the reapers came, and all through the land,
the people wanted Shepard back in command.
The rifles were strapped to their holsters with care,
while thinking of gunshots flying through the air.
The husks were skewered all snug on their spikes,
with visions of devouring cute human tykes.
Garrus in his turtle shell, and Joker in his cap,
Had hustled poor James in poker, the poor noobie sap.
When down on Earth there arose such a clatter,
Shepard leapt into action to put an end to the matter.
Down to the Normandy he ran oh so very fast,
and thought of the decisions he had made in the past.
The moon was one of the first places to go,
and the civilians could do little but cry "where'd it go?"
When, what do my wondering eyes should appear,
but a big badass Krogan drinking a couple of beers.
With a giant shotgun, so powerful yet quick,
I knew in a moment Wrex had asses to kick.
More rapid than the Ascension the Normandy came,

Shepard crouched behind one wall, glancing out into the adjoining hallway for any sign of enemies. Her knees ached from the constant need for cover, but it was a necessity with the constant barrage of bullets.
Behind her, Garrus and Mordin moved with enough efficiently to make her think she was alone in the deserted hospital. All this trouble for Mordin's former assistant, but she couldn't say no to a life in danger. Besides, Mordin had given so much for the success against the Collector's that she couldn't have said no. He needed this as much as she needed him.
Exhaling sharply in relief, she tentatively shoved away from the wall and began inching along the cool rock walls farther into the destroyed building.

"Spirits, Sol, yes I am! I heard you. The first six times, and I'm going to hear you the seventh, too. I get it! Now stop--"
"Who you talking to, Vakarian?" Shepard asked, leaning over his shoulder, trying to get a peek at the console.
"Oh, is that...looks like I gotta go, Garrus. Talk to you soon. Love you, Garbear. Bye."
Suddenly the screen went blank except for a general Other user has logged off message.

SSV Normandy, Captains Quarters:
Commander Sarah Shepard dragged herself down the steps as she stripped out of the cracked and dented armor she wore down to Tuchanka. She was so tired and just emotionally done. She staggered a bit and caught herself against the wall by her desk.
She couldn't believe Mordin was dead. He was such a good friend, she loved hearing him ramble on about STG, his work, ethics and even art. The black cloud gathered around her soul again. Everyone she valued and loved died. She sank to her knees and leaned against the wall as she tore off her chest-plate. Exhaustion, loss and pain swelled up in her breast making it hard to breathe, to think. The pain was thick and heavy but she fought it, pushed it down. Down with all the rest, Alenko, her parents, brother and friends on Mindoir, Elysium, Pressly, her last crew, a

CHAPTER 17: TRIAL
He stepped into the elevator, looking at Shepard's cabin as the doors shut and wondering if he was doing the right thing. Her whisper still rang in his head and haunted him. It was no more than a few hours ago that he had agreed to her terms and now he was going behind her back, sneaking off to see what Liara had found. If Liara thought it was important enough for him to see, he couldn't ignore it, could he? Still arguing with himself, he stepped out of the elevator and rounded the corner. Standing in front of her quarters, he weighed the implications of what he was about to do. If he went in, he risked losing what little connection he and Shepard had started to re-build. If not, it might be detrimental to the mission. Things in their lives had a nasty way of popping up
Two Turians and a KeeperGarrus and Chellick were busy reviewing footage at their desks into the late hours of the evening. They were working on a case together involving suspicious cargo that was being run through the Citadel. All ships docking were legitimate which meant that when they finally pinpointed the ship, either the entire crew was "dirty" or they had an extremely shady crew member that was very good at hiding his illegal activities. In any case, they had to pinpoint what ship, or ships, the cargo was coming from and this was proving to be quite the task. They reviewed hundreds of tapes from the course of a few months, watching every ship dock, watching every crate that exited, checking the docking records to make sure everything matched up. So far, they had turned up nothing. Two Turians and a Keeper3 years ago in Short Stories

The conversations and laughter, the music, the sound of the glasses clinking on tables he couldn't hear any of it. He was too stunned, paralyzed by what she had said to respond. As she walked out of the bar, he wanted to go after her and drag her back, make her explain how she could know so much based on so little.
Slowly his eyes began to focus and the sounds of the bar registered once more. He looked down at his hand and realized that he was holding Hannah's drink. He brought it eyelevel and examined its contents. Ice in a drink with fruit - who puts fruit in a drink?? He brought it to his nose and sniffed it. Commander Shepard wasn't present on the deck. Amidst the beeps of technicians typing at their stations, Kelly had the wry idea that he was down in Engineering spending time with a certain Quarian.
I'm glad they got together, they're both such wonderful people, She thought to herself glancing over at his Console. They're so cute.
Her thoughts at that moment turned to the ships newest... "Crew Member", and what was to be done in regards to it.
I mean... I trust Shepard, he knows exactly what he's doing... but a Geth? Activating a Geth on the ship?
Kelly had examined the psychology of all the Crew carefully. Jack, Grunt and Zaeed had made her uneasy with their presence, but she could understand them a to a certain degree.

Yet you are nervous about being married to the woman you love? I don't know about you but that seems a little messed up to me." Garrus said. Coiln couldn't stop his hands from shaking.
"I'm not nervous, I'm happy." Colin argued.
"You are not helping." Garrus smiled.
"Want to know something funny?" Colin asked trying to distract himself.
"Everything good that's happened to me has happened to me on the Normandy." Garrus thought about it for a moment.
"I think I can say the same thing. Alright let's get you ready, it's almost time to head down to the Cargo Hold."
"You look beautiful, Tali." Tali looked up to see Kal standing at the door.

CHAPTER 16: CARRY ME HOME
He glanced at the wall behind the large table in the back of the bar and understood what she meant. Pool He vaguely recalled watching some of the humans playing it earlier but really didn't take much notice. Now, he was sorry he didn't.
He walked over to the wall and blankly stared at all of the poles that lined it, unsure how to choose one. Shepard watched him with amusement for a couple minutes before joining him. She plucked one from the wall. Holding it in one hand about a third from the base, she balanced it, testing its weight. Satisfied, she set it on its base and leaned it against the wall. He watched her from the corner of his eye and when she walked away, he did the same thing. After selecting one he thought was acceptable, he dropped it on its base and leaned on it, watching her round up the funny looking round balls he'd seen earlier.
After racking the balls up she looked over at him, keenly aware that he was watching her every move.

Garrus and his dad don't really like the idea of Chellick being with Solana. For Garrus it might be understandable (because he knows Chell's faults since they worked together), but Chellick's actually a nice guy so why doesn't Dad like him?
I'm thinking there was a misunderstanding of some sort that made Papa think Chellick wasn't fit to date his little girl.

Garrus and Chellick slinked out of Pallin's office. The rest of the officers on duty gave them both a wide berth; talking and snickering amongst each other. It was no secret that the pair was a notoriously infamous pain the in ass for Executor Pallin. Every time the two turian Detectives went into the Executor's office, it was pretty much guaranteed that the rest of the office got a live audio play-by-play of the duo's latest antics.
