Omi's VisitI glared at them from my place on the ground, holding up a few wires and some metal plates from my biggest, best and greatest death machine.Omi's Visit6 years ago in Short Stories
A machine of undeniable power.
A machine of unmeasurable strength.
A machine they were able to cut through like butter. Which wasn't fair! It was my only advantage, and my only strength and they--
They were gloating about it right now. Those losers. I hate them, so, SO much...
"Alright, so you won. Do you mind leaving so I can clean this up and be on my merry way!?" I tried to shove as much sarcasm in there as I could. But they just stood there, like they didn't understand the plain English that was coming out of my mouth.
Should they understand me? I mean, Omi's Chinese, Kimiko's Japanese, Raimundo's Brazilian, and Clay's American. So maybe Clay should be able to understand me, but not the others, right? I WAS speaking English. Whatever. They still didn't move.

Well, sort of.
"OUCH!! DANG IT!!" the evil boy genius shouted in response to stubbing his toe on the end of his bed.
While he proceeded to hop around yelling; he didn't notice the coat he had haphazardly thrown on the floor last night was still there and stepped on it, sliding until he fell with a 'whumph'. He rubbed his head, glaring at the wall and picked up the black trench coat he'd slipped on, throwing it over the messy sheets.
Oh, how he hated mornings. Especially Monday mornings; when he ruled the world he was definitely getting rid of Mondays.
For now, the young boy simply yawned a

“Just, take a look at them and make up your mind.” He muttered before limping out of the room, leaving his only son to stare at the kitchen table and the contents upon it. His gaze wasn’t entirely focused, having slipped away minutes ago to watch the dust particles in the air around him, illuminated by the late spring sunshine. He took a deep, slow breath in, watching as they twirled towards him, before spinning away on his exhale. He felt like those particles at the moment; following everyone else beck and tow but his own. Five year old Clay Bailey was happily playing outside with his three year old sister, Jesse after they had finished milking the cows and harvesting the eggs.
“Cwome Cway! I’s want to you’s to do magic again!” The three year old Jesse clapped excitedly, demanding her brother do his magic with the ground again.
“Al’right Jesse, here I go!” Clay said in excitement, he proceeded to stomp the ground underneath their feet causing a crater to form and the elephant-size boulders to lift up into the air. Clay then started punching them into little pebbles, making Jesse clap in excitement.
Clay had a huge smile on his face at the accomplishment on the move that he had been practicing for two weeks had finally paid off.
Suddenly a loud snort filled the air as both children slowly turned around and saw a huge wild bull glaring down at them with red eyes. Both of the ch

Three of the four Xiaolin Monks sat huddled on one side of a corner, occasionally peeking around it to look at Raimundo who was sitting on the temple steps, staring off into space. Kimiko had the Mindreader Conch to her ear aimed at Raimundo.

Maurice Antonio Rolf Jean-Pierre Gaulle LeGrand IV- Now better known as Ping Pong- had never felt so conflicted in his life. On the one hand, his dream had come true. He had proven himself to his heroes, and now he had won the right to train under them, beside them, to become the next Xiaolin Warrior. On the other, however, the Xiaolin Temple was now lost. The Wu was lost. And, as he watched his new teammates pick through the rubble and debris for the scraps of their old lives, Ping Pong couldn’t help but feel that something far more important had been lost as well.
Looking through the debris by the gardens, Raimundo had smiled in pure relief as he dug out a battered old teddy bear, only to have it fall away to a lost, broken look when he noticed the gaping tear across the toy’s belly. Kimiko noticed this, and gingerly took the teddy from her friend with a promise to the Wind Dragon that she’s sew it up for him later, earning a look of gratitude from the Brazilian.

First the four had to find each other. The oldest was the god of earth, he named himself Clay. Second, came the wind god, Raimundo. Out from the splitting fire came goddess Kimiko. The littlest one would be more powerful than the rest, but he had to figure that out; Omi, the god of water. They met on high temple, on a mountain, called Mount Olympus. All they did was train every day, but one day, one of the gods had an idea.
"Can we not do anything that sits us atop this mountain? There is nothing else around us, I am very bored." The other gods and goddesses agreed with nods of approval. Raimundo continued, "Clay, you formed this mountain of earth and made stone for this temple. Kimiko, you warmed us when it was cold. Omi, you gave us water to keep us undehydrated. The big cowboy sighed. He wasnt really surprised; he knew Master Fung would be enacting some sort of punishment for daring to kiss a girl. The other monks gave him looks that varied from confusion to sympathy.
Clay followed Master Fung back into the courtyard and was startled to see Master Monk Guan waiting.

Clay had noticed the first night in China that the buzz and whirr of nighttime insects was different than what he had grown used to back in Texas, but he had gotten used to the Chinese night noises. For some reason, now they sounded strange, alien.
Clay sighed, staring up at the ceiling above his sleeping stall.
After Master Fung had dropped that bombshell on him about being banned from breeding, Clay had been hit with a massive wave of homesickness.
The truth be told, his teammates hadnt been that consoling; theyd just forbidden him from going near the gardens and given him his space.
So began a long two weeks of rough sighs, deep silence and restless nights.
Rai and Kimiko accused him of being a drama queen, but if life was meant to be lived without knowing the love of another, of knowing them and becoming their partner and starting a family of his own, then what was the point?

They were obvious when everyone tried not to let him know they were staring, since it was rude to stare at someone in a wheelchair. Clay didn't mind, though. He would walk again, and his friends were worth awkward second glances from total strangers. Or when the boy waiting in front of him in the checkout line turned around with big, curious eyes.
"Hey, Mister? What's wrong with your legs?" Everyone around them stilled at the question. The boy's mother looked mortified.
Clay didn't mind, though.

Kimiko stared, still shaking, into her cup of tea, watching the grains of sugar drift to the bottom. The others had gotten it for her a while ago, but she had not yet taken a sip and it was very likely she never would. She hadn't looked up once while telling her story, and did not feel like breaking her streak.
Kim knew what she would see and could not face her friends concern and pity at the moment. Besides, she could already feel their stares.
When the Dragon of Fire had finally made it back to the temple she found her friends looking for her. It surprised her at first, because she had not realized she had been gone long enough for her absence to be noticed. In her world things were going all too fast.
Kimiko supposed she must have looked frantic or in shock the way Clay had talked to her, like he was calming a wounded animal. Omi kept asking questions, all of which she ignored, until Raimudo had eventually told him to shut up. Rai's empathy was
