Will I question your words, I wonder;
Or gaze at you, without protest?
I am tangled in you already
It's too late to leave now, it's too late
I observe the contrast of your warm eyes with your cold skin
and try to snap from this trance
To once again remind myself of the situation I'm in
But you hold my gaze, and take my cheeks in your stone hands
And I quickly throw any doubt I had up in the air
Not bothering to see where it lands

between what was day
and what will be night.
A time of transformation,
of endings and beginnings,
where boundaries are crossed
A time when reality,
having been one thing,
becomes something else.
Ancients from a time we have forgotten
named this a moment when
the veil between the worlds
was temporarily lifted,
making what had been inconceivable
This transformation reminds my soul
of things it has forgotten
and opens me to possibilities
that blinding daylight
or dreary overcast hours
could not anticipate.
A potential for transformation,
a capacity to be transformed
waits, aching to be realized,
hidden from us like stars
in broad daylight, or by
the emptiness of reality
we try to convince ourselves
to inhabit, so we neither
remember that which waits for us,
nor act in accordance with its promise.
What the ancients named magic
waits yet to be uncovered
at the edge of the night.
