He couldn't hear them.
It confused him. They always spoke to him but they've been quiet – almost silent. He looked around, pulling his hand away before hugging himself – chill suddenly going through him. He took another look around – almost regretting that he told his young friend to stay behind at their base camp. Something felt very wrong in the forest but he couldn't put his finger on it.
He put a hand on one of the tree again – swallowing as he pushed to open a connection to the tree. He leaned his head on the tree, closing his eyes as he did so.
