In writing, people are able to read through something and say, "That character is a lot like you. Did you model them after yourself?" It's especially easy to do if you're intimately familiar with the writer! I've noticed this trend with many writers, and--not to offend or insult any grouping--more specifically among the fandom writers. People have a primal desire to insert themselves into fantasies and dreams. Who wouldn't love to wake up one morning inside of their favorite show, or open the door and step three hundred years into the past? I definitely would. What better way to do this than with writing?
