Numb was probably the closest you could use to describe how he was feeling, yet it did not encompass everything. Yes, he did feel numb, but there was a great surge of emotion that seized up his limbs. It was pervading. No rational thoughts existed and no outward physical activity. It was likely the shock of the whole experience. It was so surprising, so sudden, and entirely difficult to figure out what exactly happened first.
