An Octopus AvengedA conqueror from fathoms deepAn Octopus Avenged3 weeks ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
who makes the poorest maidens weep
will rise again from deepest sleep
to kill without command.
The brightest day of all the year
invokes in hearts of all, such fear,
that out of oceans, eyes may leer
into the souls of man.
Eruption out of murky depths
and tendrils struck and people lept;
A sushi stand: destroyed, decryp't;
an octopus avenged.
The flames, they reap the coastal air
and fill the lungs with black despair.
Retreating to his ocean lair
his seven tendrils fade.
For one was lost to Japanese
who hacked it off with simple ease.
A vengeance sworn, no man will please
the hunger of the beast.
An octopus lay deadly still
and soon the men will eat their fill.
A silenced heart that beat to kill
destroyed by rage its own.
